When I took up an interest in watches a couple years back, I thought I'd slowly grow out of my fondness of Timex. Quite the opposite has happened. These are fantastic looking watches with features and prices that are great. Thanks!
Timex was never really gone, but Timex is most definitely back! Lately it seems like hit after hit. These are all very nice. Sapphire! Sapphire! Hey Seiko, even Timex is doing sapphire!
I was looking for a video on this exact topic yesterday. Instagram gave me an ad for the new Timex 1983 E-Line (or something like that), which is a new auto in a retro TV style case and it just led me down a rabbit hole of Timex’s new edge into the enthusiast market. I bought a T-80 just a few months ago because I am from Connecticut and thought it would be fun to have a watch from a brand with ties to Waterbury, and I love it. I wear it basically every day, switching off with my vintage GUB for when I’m feeling dressier. Casio is the better value no doubt, but something about the T-80 feels like more quality than any A158/A168 I’ve owned. I am just really excited about many of the Timex models, especially the Ti Deepwater and the E-Line, but the quartz models too.
The stainless version is everything I’ve been looking for in a dive watch at a good price. I especially like that it is quartz, believe it or not. I’m sick of dealing with automatic watches.
Seriously, the constant worrying about accuracy along with the more fragile movement and needing to re-set it, has really turned me off... I think the black stainless would be best - classic good looks, reliable and will look good with just about anything short of a suit (and even then!)
Each has their place. About 5 yrs ago I got rid of all my quartz watches, only to leave myself collecting a box full of mechanicals. I have a rough and dirty job so I only wear watches in the evenings and wknds. And that leaves me to almost every time I pick one up it's dead and I have to reset it. Quarts is looking pretty good about now.
I went to the timex site and was blown away by the styles of watches they have been putting out. They have some damn good watch designs and interesting models. Good for Timex and good for us.
I think you're the ONLY one who's covered the SS GMTs here... cost me £200 you have! 😜 I went for the blue/red rehaut on black with bracelet. A tad annoying that you can't buy the strap separately... at least I haven't found it. I know it isn't (it just looks that way in some photos) but the rehaut would have still worked in blue/cerise. Hard to tell what colour it actually is but probably just plain old red.
I’ve been looking for the stainless steel bracelet to buy as I went for the blue black GMT which only comes on rubber strap. On closer inspection is does look like the watch body on the blue black is darker steel, looks like Ti colour. Would love to have a matching steel bracelet as it would just look epic!!
@@simonstaveley121 Through bitter experience, the bracelet, although nice and chunky is a nightmare to fit to the wrist correctly. There are no micro-adjustments. None! I also thought that the time setting is sloppy, along with the terrible bezel alignment. Overall it's a keeper but the honeymoon period lasted about a day. :(
That Deepwater Reef 200 automatic is incredibly well specced for the money and looks very nice. Timex was never on my hit list - until now. Watch out Seiko...
A lot of people confuse 80's and 90's Timex and Casio. Because they both had Bibles of entry level quartz watches, and similar design aesthetics. But TIMEX is vastly different than Casio. And has a greater, much more storied history. Timex was actually known for mechanical timepieces for decades.
I got mine today too, but I'm not completely happy with it. I've noticed the hour and minute hands hardly glow in the dark compared to the rest of the watch. I don't know if it's a problem with my watch or if they're all the same. Is it the same with yours?
@@joseluisrodriguezvazquez6082 How odd is that, I have had exactly the same problem and I have sent it back. I spoke to Timex and the advisor asked me to leave it in bright light for an hour and then test it in the dark again. I did and didn't make any difference. Could be a faulty batch. Shame, because I did love the watch. Also, I have small wrist and another punch in the strap would have made it a snug fit. I might consider buying it again.
@@merlinhotspurs Based on the information I have, I´m afraid it's not a faulty batch but a design flaw, so buying it again won't make any difference. I´m also considering sending it back. My watch was purchased 2 years ago from MAMACOO and, to this day, it still looks and runs as well as it did the day it arrived. That movement has never missed a beat despite never having been serviced. I can't complain about that.
Have you had any luck? I got the blue GMT and the watch colour is darker than the normal stainless steel on the red GMT so that strap won’t work. Can’t find a Ti strap yet that will fit and look good
Finally a really good looking watch from Timex and it seems quality is also there, they've done a good job. I love the black version, if they ever bring it to German Amazon I'll most likely buy one.
I started diving in the ‘70s and my first dive watch was a Timex. I did my first 100ft dive and it killed the watch. I then got a Rolex for my 18th birthday. Still got it. Would be great to own a great Timex diver again even though my dive days are over now. Great looking watches and as you say, not homage watches… Timex is back.

got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on MAMACOO 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.

Love the look of the Ti variant. I wonder about the application of lume on the rotating bezel. Is that lume protected somehow or just completely exposed to the elements? Could it not easily get scraped or discoloured?
Thanks for covering Timex on a regular basis Chris. Wouldn't it be awesome if Timex filled the vacancy left by Seiko in the affordable watch range? These look really good. Wish the quartz models were solar, like their North field watches.
They all look good imo. I like the titanium the best, I’m not a fan of cyclops date windows but it looks so good I could overlook it and that lume oh that lume. Timex has been killing it all year.
Great review and agree these are really great watches. I purchased the blue GMT which only seems to be available with blue rubber strap. Have you seen/do you know if there is a stainless steel strap?? The blue GMT has a slight darker titanium colour to it so not sure the red gmt stainless strap will work. Wow, Timex lineup looks really impressive. Serious dive watches, on par with Seiko/Citizen/Tissot. Casio just needs to release a Duro in 40MM, with a sapphire crystal, and BGW9 lume to dominate the dive watch market.

I'm definitely in favor without the date. The wave pattern really adds to the watch. The yellow strap is definitely something I am leaning towards. It's such a great price at $200. But the automatic version is a good price as well considering its features such as sapphire crystal, auto, and titanium. You probably won't be paying $480 if you shop around. $400 is a great deal for the watch and I'm sure you can find one for that price.
I have a Rolex, an Omega and several Seiko’s and Timex Auto Harborsides - I will definitely get the Titanium Auto but as I live my Casio Duro, I see these quartz Deepwaters as an upgrade to Casio and I am warming to quartz. I bought a GMT but can you believe Timex don't sell the rubber straps separately? Unreal... Update to add: Now that I've received one, the GMTs are nice but they're definitely a £200 watch and worth no more than that. I'm not disappointed but not thrilled either. A San Martin would be a better bet in the quality department by a mile. No micro-adjust on the bracelet should be a real consideration for those considering buying one. For me, the bracelet is either very loose or very tight with no wiggle room in between. Timex really dropped the ball with this and they'll only redeem themselves if they release some kind of half link. Go to it, Timex!
I absolutely love watches, the high end watch brands are out of my budget but the MAMACOO has literally an almost duplicate of every single watch on the market . Always a great but no matter your budget.
Glad to see Timex stepping up their game.
It's hardly possible for them to do otherwise.

I understand dark dials are best for visibility purposes, but man do I wish they made that 200m diver with a white wave-imprinted dial.
I want that seamaster dial
THANKS,,,,,GOOD VIDEO !!!!!
MAMACOO's always amazes me how much beauty and precision are added to the parts of watch 99% of people will never see.
I absolutely love watches, the high end watch brands are out of my budget but the MAMACOO has literally an almost duplicate of every single watch on the market . Always a great but no matter your budget.
9 series needs to be in these models happy to pay a few shillings more
