As a sous chef, part of my job is to taste everything. The chef makes to make sure it’s good to go before it goes out to the public in the customer.
I used to be a sous chef myself. My chef would ask every time when I put a plate together if it tasted right/good. If I said no cause I didn’t taste it, he’d just yell “TASTE!” And do a taste test himself

I’m in the northeast metro not far from you. I’m too old to even know for sure what a growmie is but life is good. I waited for legalization so the wife would be ok with growing for fifty three years from the first time I tried it at a WBL apartment until last fall. The wait sucked.

Here in Sin City it's mostly mids unfortunately. I stick with consistency and good growers like Nature's Chemistry, Fleur, Shango & GLP. I still miss the old cronic from the 90s before regulation?

Telling the buyer that weed shouldn't cost more than 200 an Oz is setting the buyer up for failure and keeping the AAA buds out of the hands of the dispensaries. A dispo told my buddy they'd buy his AAA's for 2000 a lb. He laughed and left. Then, he got rid of it for twice as much from someone who appreciated true quality and wasn't trying to scam the grower. If you want top buds consistently, you need to pay top dollar.

Rob…. You hit this description, a lot of OH dispos, right on man… used to be able to smell and see some of the things you wanted to try… not really at all now, lucky to get a peek thru the bag and a suttle squeeze to check bud density… not the way I make up my mind if it’s “The One” for me 🤷♂️

As a grower, I would most definitely be in the store talking to everyone. We need to get this info out there not just for the consumer but for the longevity of of being able to provide medication for the people.
The most obnoxious type of customer
Bean Bag Chairs. If the place doesn’t have beanbag chairs, my wife and I say No Bueno. Lol
I worked retail for years. The companies that put customer service as the #1 priority will always be the best companies to shop. Should be the same at dispo's but it isn't. Idc about thc % to a point. It's not my #1 go to for buying weed but it's the first thing a bud tender will bring up. Sad

The ones in western MA need to stop selling such dry weed. Even with a Boveda 65% inside the zip bag , it seems like a recovery effort more than anything.
I recently started growing because the dispensary is too expensive for an all day toker. They few i go to have good customer service tho and decent bud but your gonna pay for it. Gotta give props to amazon tho, ordered stash blend on my lunchbreak friday and it was at my house by the time i got home. A rarity but still nice

@diegomontoya796 I went with the apachetech 800w led. I helped a homie do a run under a 600w hid over a decade ago. It was great for the times, but shits changed. I've helped a friend more recently under leds, and it's a lot easier to manage the environment and still get an amazing herb without heating the whole house, which my snakes and geckos do enough as is.
I was just in Maryland and DC and I went to 2 dispensaries in Maryland. The flower I got was $50 an 1/8 but it's pretty good, fresh and sticky. It's called Beach Cake and it has a whole bunch of cannabinoids listed besides THC, CBD and terp percentage. I live in VA and I wish our governor had respect for the will of the people who voted for dispensaries. But he's a GOP guy and they want to rule and not represent. Hey, we're allowed to grow our own and the black market is booming and nobody is worried about weed.

I have only been in a dispensary once a few years ago on a car trip in the UP. I got my wish that goes back 54 years last August when Minnesota legalized. In their infinite wisdom they won’t be licensing dispensaries until next year. I started growing last fall, a small grow of one photo in a3x3 and three autos in a 2x4. From what I hear I could buy a new LED light for the cost of an ounce. The only places they can sell is the reservations and that’s a five hundred mile round trip to northern Minnesota.
It looked kind of shaky yield wise my first run but I’m nailing it now. I doubt that I will ever set foot in a dispensary again. No worries here about making them better as shopping in one would indicate that I ruined a grow and ran out.
For the vast majority of my seventy plus years “consulting a bud tender” was calling a guy and asking “can you spare an O? How much?” It was better than the brick we got in the 70’s but I never knew the strain or any details.
Now I try to match all these whacky strain names to the land races I experienced over the years. I wish someone would cover that. I just go to one of the seed companies and read the grow notes and effects and go by that.
I like a daytime play the guitar and work in the yard sativa and chill to Netflix and sleep like a baby indica. So far Bubba Kush checks off the indica box and Trainwreck is more energetic. I guess I’ll just have to try them all. That is a noble retirement project.

The dispo I went to in Vegas was truly awful. The employees just stood around, customer disservice all the way. Nothing but trash weed and trash service.
Zen Leaf (in LV) used to provide a small terpene guide for customers...
the problem with doing what your saying about a dispo and have it all about the customer is you would never earn any money unless you also grew it yourself then you would have higher quality and worth to much for most customers here in canada the dispo prices are the same as what ilegal was for an OZ now at those prices you can earn great cash at the 200+an OZ but who do you buy from for less then 20an OZ so you can cover the bills also its harder then you think to even earn money unless you supply your own and have a wholesale grow
For me and my show this is what I covet the most...... a nice handful of loyal clientele that I've slowly educated through the years about dispensaries and what they really do. None of my peoples trust anything from the gov. And know exactly why its best to buy from an experienced grower over any dispensary. The world just became a brighter place😮
Good bud will sell itself. Haven't seen good weed at a dispensary in Michigan since they quit selling caregiver weed. I think they irradiate it all now to guarantee it passes state testing. That's why I grow my own.
They should stop THC percentages.

My local medicinal dispensary was pretty great before recreational became legal. It lost its soul.

My Dispo has there garden visible, you can see them making the concentrates etc, I’ve not been to a bad one yet here in NorCal, I’m sure they exist though.
Holy shit you guys are describing the place I just found that is a garden store catering to the home grower but they have their own farm growing weed and selling it to “members” at wholesale prices

I had a mate 40 years ago who would bye up to 50.000 up on weed and if it looked good he would bye it and he brought a lot of rubbish so he used my mate and me as his testers he never smoked his own stash so he lost a lot of money
they are still rolling out rec in ohio but the med dispensaries have the driest flower with barely any potency or flavor left in it. not worth anywhere near the $180oz they want

The mom n pop shop find the market thru customer service. The franchise takes away the customer service because it's expensive. The product sells itself. The big fish swallows the little fish.

After leaving the Oregon coast where the dispos were super chill and informed, I was shocked at the "get em in and get em out" attitude of the bud tenders.

This was an ABSOLUTE BANGER of an episode fellas! Some many dope points made by Rob and I couldn't agree more with all of you guys. Some of the budtenders and dispos around where I'm at in IL are just plain trash and almost All there flower is like that disappearing act Rob spoke of the "crumbleI weed" and it's just garbage! Most of the budtender's are Ignorant asf too, which kind of defeats the whole purpose when I know more then anyone else does in the store and they try and con everyone into buying this or that and i argue the fact. But alot don't care bc they can't get any type of Cannibus products anywhere else bc they don't have "plugs" or access to the black market so they don't really have a choice!🤷🏻♂️ Just the other day this guy was trying to buy some flower and I was right behind him in line so I could hear it all and they were like well this "shake" do you still want it? He was like " idc it dont matter to me". And sitting there thinking how ignorant this person must be and how the budtenders should be helping this mam out alot more Instead of just trying to push certain products! Budtenders around here don't know anymore then the average everyday smoker! 💯💯🤙✌️

Dispensaries are just now starting to pop up here in the Austin area. THCA is allowing people to get their foot into the market and its the wild west atm lol.

I'd first like to see dispo's being able to source from localised (small scale) growers. Allow the cultivation lovers the ability to back their local dispensaries. The Ontario Cannabis Store can go pound sand and eat rocks.

Most bud tender are great. The environment has been crap at many dispo's. Small loud too many people. Can't read shit on packaging far away. They want people in and out. Here is some crap preroll so you won't come back to buy that cultivar, because preroll was crap.
If you want to sell medicinal plants you shouldn't limit yourself to cannabis. Why not have moringa and other plants/products for healing people? It would take more room but you might be taken more seriously if you sell all sorts of medicinal plants and products from plants. You could get juanilama from Central America, it smells and tastes like lemon without acid and it's awesome for sore throats and stomach trouble if you make a tea with it. Lemon grass is the same idea but a totally different plant. Dormilona from the same areas will put you to sleep. Moringa is full of vitamins and great for high blood pressure and other ailments and malnutrition. Lots of natural medicine exists if we seek them.

I grow organically tended fruits and berries. I like ugly heirloom apples. The taste is like no other. People have grown those same cultivars for hundreds of years for a reason. You only see about 6 kinds of apples on store shelves. All these new cultivars are just names, hype, no history, and not much info on the cultivar. Coming farm a farming stand point cannabis most not all breeders suck at providing info on the cultivar they are selling. M-77 dispo central U.P. has glass blast windows looking into one of the grows. Secure transport here has climate control usually.
