    Room vs tent = tent is easier to pimp out and comes almost done. Room then put up insulated mylar or pandafilm then literally add an exhaust (and maybe an intake?) literally. the biggest thing I like about big rooms is look at these tents you know the top where you put all your shit while your busy gardening inside, that height is priceless, thats where my light hangs (led driver is in a diff room). The better control, doesn't make a ton of sense to me? you can add the same tools you use in the tent into your room it just sometimes takes more work, and or would break your lease (making holes for ducting and wires etc.) (another great reason to use a tent)

    two huge tips for grove bags, 1) do not put your stuff in there until you are confident on its moisture level. if its not truely at the right "dry " point it can damage your product. 2) believe in the product, a new user i know threw in a beveda pack....because he was use to mason jars... bad idea . follow those two points and these bags are like magic

What kind of plastic are these bags made out of? I'm thinking this is like the fishing isle at the store where alot of those lures are made to catch fisherman and not fish. You have to have the moisture content in the product at the right level to go into the curing process regardless before the cure. So I'll dry to the point of cure,place product into bag seal it and forget it,never open it and it's perfectly cured for what ever time it's in there?

    @Pigeons, how does a single fan and controller maintain 2 setpoints? I'm running into issues doing the same thing, I'm finding that it requires 2 or more devices. I have a day/night thermostat, attached to an exhaust fan but it won't maintain a set humidity without temps falling outside setpoint. Temps have been on point, but I'm going to need to figure something different to bring RH% down as flowering moves on. I've got day and night temps pretty close rn, but I'll be dropping night temps after stretch. I'm running a dehu in the room even though I'm venting, but I'll have to change that to drop temps, it puts out a lot of heat. I'm hoping to vent dehu into the house, letting it heat our space and then return to the grow room after cooling off some. You can either throw a lot of electricity/money at the problem or be willing to try a bunch of experimenting

    Drying in my tent has really uped my game. Still not able to get it down to 60/60 yet, but it has def slowed down the dry time; from 3-5 day (straw😪) to 10 days! In my hot, dry environment that's huge! ✌️💚🌲🌏☮️🕊Edit: it's called a "farmers trim"! Lol

    • @UbiquitousRomp
      @UbiquitousRomp Год назад +2

      When it's was 80f + here. I run my dry tent with all the 7's 70% at 70f and get the same vpd of 77, which is the same VPD as perfect 62f 60%.
      Sounds scarily high moisture doesn't it. I was nervous trying it, So I bought the smaller 4 inch ac infinity T4 with controller and app. just for my dry tent. So I could see all the data was correct to the theory.
      It works a treat. But you can't have your humidifier in the tent, like you would with the grow. So the tent floor has to be raise to 2 ft, so you can have the humidifier sitting below the vent, and the fan on a low level 2 setting...so it get pulled it gently and gets defused a bit as it goes through the vent. Don't try this without an auto fan to suck the humidity out, when the upper setting gets triggered.
      I know I've waffled on a bit, but I'm kind of chuffed with this system as I've not seen anyone mention VPD when drying. But it gives you the numbers you need for a good dry. anything between a VPD of .75 up to .85 is great.

    • @UbiquitousRomp
      @UbiquitousRomp Год назад +1

      @@davidbryden7904 As your interested, I'll add this. As someone may point out VPD is for leaf transpiration.
      So your not measuring the plant. but as the buds are transpiring as part of their drying out process, using the VPD, you are balancing that process like you do for different stages of the grow. It's the air moisture density that gives the vpd number. and as 62f 60% gives the vpd reading of the air .77. it stands to reason, that whatever the temp range, by adjusting the moisture in the air, until you get the .77 magic number. works with 50f 50%, they all match up to .77. Compared to say for example 70f - 60%, which gives a VPD of .95. it's still ok, but will dry out quicker. The other benefit is that by increasing the humidity from 60% to 70% it lowers the tent temperature down about 4 degrees. I've done 2 dry sessions using this method now in the height of summer and manged to get 12 days on one of them and 10 even when it was 100f outside for a couple of them.
      Everything still smells lovely. Plants are really dense so cant hang the whole, so broken into sections. My Growmie down the road dried his in 6 days due to the summer ambient heat and then he got a 5 day, Because of the extream heat wave we just had.

    I think alot of it must have to do with where your located and how hard it is to control your environment along with grow system & method and what your trying to achieve because I hated using tents. I would much rather go open room. Obviously you still have to get everything dialed in but it gives you alot more space and options. My biggest problem with the tents is for each tent you have is that much more equipment that you need. And I would much rather fill that space with plants.
    But it really all comes down to what works for you and preference.

And I can do a far better job than any machine. The time saver for me is edibles (which my wife vastly prefers) so anything smaller than my thumb goes into the hopper during trim. And grove bags are cool (especially bought direct in bulk from Grove) but glass jars are forever. I have Mason Jars my mom used for pickles 40 years ago.

    For whatever it's worth, Grove Bags are totally real. I don't know that they slice bread or take care of your spouse, but they for sure cure herb well.
    With respect to the smell of outdoor growing, I can't even begin to second this. I live in a fully legal state, so in some ways no one cares. And I as a grower totally appreciate the smell of growing herb, but I for sure could tell that my neighbor was growing in her backyard. Sometimes it was pleasant, but after a while it got seriously old. I admit, some of it was jealousy (her backyard is fully enclosed with no overlooking houses and mine doesn't fit that bill) and her flower did smell plenty dank, but it also made me realize where my own limits and tolerances are.

      @@maughan6957 Easier to store and move. Nothing sticks to the inside, so don't need cleaning out. They release the gasses that cause rot. It's just easier and produces better flavour smoke. seal it at 62%ish and leave for as long as you like. nice after a few weeks sealed. But even better after months. as curing and storage is seamless.

    I have been doing some research, they sell reflective insulation. Easy peasy to create a room.

      I'm using some now, reflectix brand I believe. Also had pretty good luck with walls painted flat white grow wise. My research since indicates the white is more useful to plants. Human eyes get the difference with a silvered coating, but not the plants. This may be, jury's still out with me. But results count for more. I use the reflectix on partitions and temporary dividers, fresh coat of cheap paint on the walls. Cheap Wal Mart tarps with one reflective side will serve in a pinch. Only chiming in cause I'm a back room, basement grower type and have never used tents. And only then in winter

    In shorter terms, the grove bag technology was already around. The bags are made from the same material that you see grapes stored in for example.

    grove bags arent a gimmick, they work well, c vaults work well too, dude im so jealous of your canitrol machine, a legit 7 day dry and cure sounds amazing. as for bowl trimmers, if youve only got a few plants i dont get why youd ever want to molest the trichomes off your big buds like that, hand trim your big buds, the small stuff all goes to processing.
