Wow, you're the only person I've seen who's done the same thing as I have, have a bathroom stall in the second row 😃. The only thing I might recommend is having some kind of heavy duty protection for the seating just in case of a mishap. I use a seat protector meant for wet dogs, with a towel over top of it to absorb moisture if necessary.
Hi Laki , very nice set up . I have been camping in my Toyota RAV4 for 3 years now . Love it way better then staying in hotels or tent . Hope all goes well , God bless and be safe and enjoy 😊

Laki, the bag you use for bowel movements is genius. I've often wondered what can a van lifer do when they can't get to a place to use the bathroom. This is awesome. Your creative ideas to live on the road is brilliant.
Thanks, Tasha!✨ There are several things I need to feel comfortable while traveling. A place to potty for emergencies is one of them…coupled with good hygiene products, b/c one thing I’m not going to do is be out here with a stomach ache, or smelling less than fresh, lol!!😂
I love your set up by the way out of all the ones I watched yours is the one I want mine to look like it literally has everything and it’s not cluttery and messy and it’s neat and everything is efficient
Love that you showed the live in and drive modes. Also, you included some amazing pieces (some of the best) I have yet to see in my car camping journey! One of my favorite purchases for the aroma that comes from living in your vehicle… a USB powered essential oil diffuser but I do love the one you have for ambience! Much healthier than artificial scents!
I love how you have made storage accessible and easy! I would have loved to see the entire storage behind the front seat though! Thank you for adding the link! All the links, actually. I have a Tucson SUV, so this was a great help!😄

This was great, Laki. When I was in the process of trading in my car that I've had for 13 years, I actually thought about l purchasing a small SUV and living out of it. Rent out here is crazy and who wants to live with a roommate at my big ole age. I ended up going with what I have now (I'm a Mini Cooper loyalist). After watching this video I probably should have gone with the small SUV idea. Oh well...
I know, right!?! Rent up here is crazy too! I’m currently considering my options for once my current lease expires. I originally planned to use my savings to purchase a parcel of land, but then life happened, & I had to use my savings for the unexpected expenses.
@@lakikaia Believe me I understand. I’ve been also looking at Tiny Homes and Container Homes. I couldn’t agree with you more!✨ Clutter weighs my spirit down. I often collect items not being used, and donate them, that way others can enjoy them, and I can be free of clutter! Thanks for watching, & for your comment!🙏🏽✨
Love the setup. Perfect for me as I travel alone and not into much cooking. Give me a good bed, book and lighting and I’m fine. I don’t plan to live in it but I love meeting up at campgrounds with other friends. I’d be interested to know what size power source you use and whether or not you still use oven.
Same, Lori!✨ I love a nice relaxed atmosphere! Add some nice chill music, good food, hot tea, candles, and a blanket, & I’m over the moon! As it pertains to cooking, I prefer to use my electric items (skillet, hotpot, camping crockpot, mini rice cooker, tea kettle, etc.) over the butane stove when cooking inside of the camper. I prefer using the butane stove with a wind cover (I think that’s what it’s called, lol) when cooking outside of the van. I most often use the Jackery 500, because of its compact size, weight, and capacity, but have recently swapped it out for a VTOMAN 1500, as I need to run more power with the induction stovetop I recently purchased. Hope this helps! Safe travels to you!✨
Thanks so much!✨ I’ve actually owned the van for years now. It was solely a work van prior to my no-build conversion. Now, it serves as a functioning work van & a no-build adventure camper, depending on the day. Thanks so much for following along with me on journey!💛

Hi Michelle! 👋🏽 Thanks so much! The Folgers can is great to store any liquid “grey water” contents while traveling, and is super convenient to dump. Placing it under the faucet serves as a sink, and storage for liquid contents. Any coffee can with lid will suffice.✨ I’ve provided a link for the cheapest coffee can with lid currently on Amazon, but you may find one cheaper at a store like Walmart or Target. Here are your requested links: Maxwell house coffee: amzn.to/3EoBAuB Drinking water dispenser: amzn.to/3NW9iuD
Thanks!✨ I have both the Jackery 240 (my first purchase) & the Jackery 500. I use the Jackery 500 the most, as my electric skillet, tea kettle, and mini rice cooker pull more power than the 240 can support.
Thank you for your kind words!🙏🏽 The SUV conversion continues to evolve, as I make modifications to the original setup. There are links to many of the items shown in the video, reflecting current pricing. There are several items that can be purchased that serve the same purpose, but at a cheaper price (such as the Yeti cooler, & the Jackery). So cool that you camp out of your Honda Fit… the shape of that vehicle allows for a great space!✨ Safe travels!
Hi Laki! I love your video, thank you for sharing. I'm looking at buying a Tuscon to do just this in! Question: can you sit up in the back when in Camp/Sleep mode? I am 5ft4 and want something I can also sit up in when in the back.
I barely make clearance with the slightest head bend. Unfortunately, I don’t believe you’ll be able to sit up comfortably in sleep mode. You might want to check out the Santa Fe. Their new models are super spacious! For reference, my Tucson is a 2022.
Nice and simple set-up. If I may offer a suggestion for many people providing these mini-van tours, to please ask a friend to video you as you give the tour. It would give us a better overall perspective with less jiggling. I realize that many people are lone travellers but surely there are friends along the way who would be willing to help.
Thanks for your recommendation. I am always open to suggestions. I don't have anyone to film for me, but will explore options for improving video quality in the future. Thanks for watching my video!
Awesome videos if you ever inSanta fe new mexico they have Yurts to rent in Hyde Park way up in the mountains that are amazing safe travels blessings your way.
@@lakikaia Thanks so much Laki. I bought it from your link along with other items you shared. I’m practicing ways to be comfortable living and traveling short distances in my car. The positivity of your videos helps.
Hi Laki, love your setup and great video! I'm considering buying a Tucson to go roadtripping with my fiancé and dog. Could you tell me what the total length of the trunk is when you fold the back seats? We're both +6ft so I'm kinda struggling to find the perfect car for our size! That would be so much appreciated 🙏🙇♂
Thanks, Nate!✨ I measured approximately 74 inches from the rear of the trunk to the middle console. After filming this video, I realized there is a weight limit capacity posted on the trunk frame. My model of Tuscon shows a max load of 130lbs. Hope this helps! All the best to you & your spouse! Happy travels!
Hi Serenity!👋🏽 I am currently traveling part-time. Clothes and personal hygiene are stored in their own packing cubes, and zip cases, and are placed in the back, under the lift up trunk area. Check out the camper for two video, I believe I briefly demonstrated it in that video. ✨
Thanks so much, Ralonda!✨I purchased the storage container with bamboo lid on clearance at my local Staples. Amazon has some similar options, but I haven’t linked those, because I don’t own them, and can’t speak to their quality. All the best to you! Thanks for watching my video!🫶🏽
sink bottom as a cutting board is not a good idea, the sink is most likely pretty dirty, and if you use it as a cutting board it may contaminate your food. while you are out camping, staying healthy is most important, don't get food poisoned due to a dirty sink
You can sit on that plastic square to go 1 & 2 ? How is the depth 🤔 .. really like you multi use items.. gotta be that way with so little space. Do you have security measures? what type is of camping are you interested in ?
It’s more like hovering over with great balance and precision. 😊 Of course this is only for emergency situations. There are many options for restroom use before having to resort to doing 1 or 2 in the SUV. Yes, I have security measures, but I haven’t shared. Thanks so much for your concern!🙏🏽 I am currently only part time (weekender), but would love to travel and camp more in the future.✨
Great video! What is the name of the Ziploc-disposable, ready-to-use toilet bags bags that you placed over the white bucket? And where did you purchase the white bucket you store your toiletries in? Thank you!
Thanks so much!💛 The bags I use are the Reliance brand Double Doodie bags. I originally purchased them from Amazon, but since Amazon is currently not offering them, I purchase them from REI. I purchased the white tote from Target. Target still carries them in stores for a relatively low price (around $5 locally).
Does your sleeping arrangement allow for being totally flat or are you at slight angle is there a hump where the seats fold? I have 2017 Tuc. and this is an issue.
Yes, there is an angle. It is slightly noticeable, even with memory foam adjusted to accommodate for it. The only suggestion I have would be to reinforce the back “trunk” area to allow for more weight capacity, and then build a low platform, such as the one I featured in my platform build video. I ended up removing my platform, because I had to bend when inside of the suv. I decided to deal with the angle of the non-platform setup, rather than the bending with a platform. Feel free to share any ideas you come up with in future iterations of your setup. I’d love an alternative that works better.
Thanks for the tour! I've been perusing all of these on RUclips trying to figure out the design I want to use in my Ford Edge. I saw a couple of things I haven't seen before! I am curious though. Since you mentioned you have a Jackery, why don't you have a 12 volt refrigerator/freezer rather than a cooler that you have to put ice in?
Great question! I originally wanted an option that did not require any electricity. Although I had the Jackery 500, I wanted to conserve as much battery life as possible for other electronics. I’ve since upgraded my solar power generator, & thus added a small affordable fridge.
I acquired a Euhomy 21 quart 12-volt fridge freezer on Prime Day. Have been testing it out on long drives: so far so good, although I suspect when I start to use the car for camping, I might regret not getting a larger one. Although I will not need a lot, this cridge is pretty small.
This may be a bit late and not seen. I have a question about your Yeti cooler. What size is it? I’ve been looking for either a Yeti or one similar that won’t take up much room in my Chevy Equinox. Thank you so much!
Hi!✨ It’s the Yeti Roadie 24 cooler model. Its dimensions are as follows: EXTERNAL DIMENSIONS 16.6"W x 14.0"D x 17.4"H (42.2W X 35.6D X 44.2H CM) INTERNAL DIMENSIONS 10.8"W x 8.1"D x 13.4"H (27.4W X 20.6D X 34.0H CM) Hope this helps! Safe travels! Thanks for watching my video!✨
Hi, Mandy! 👋🏽 I purchased the plastic tote with bamboo lid on clearance at Staples a while ago. I honestly don’t recall where I purchased the essential oil diffuser; my apologies. Thanks for watching my video!🫶🏽
Hi Kathleen! I typically use the ice packs that come inside of the Hello Fresh meal prep kits, as I can keep them frozen until using them with the Yeti cooler. These packs hold for about two days before needing to be replaced. The ice packs and the insulation bag (again from the hello fresh meal prep kits) inside of the Yeti keeps food consistently cold. Most of the food I carry can be stored at room temp though. I keep the Yeti on hand for when I want cool beverages, or to initially cure sweet potatoes from my garden.
I made bug window screens for cracking the windows open, but when it came time to use them at night I freaked out thinking about the lizards or snakes that could make their way in (my window slants to an angle). Also, it left me feeling a bit vulnerable to be honest. So, I no longer crack the windows when sleeping. As you can imagine, it gets pretty stuffy inside, so I’m exploring alternatives to getting some fresh air inside when sleeping. My SUV has a Panoramic roof; otherwise, I’d purchase a screen, and open the roof a bit. I’ve been camping out of my van though. I rarely drive the SUV. It’s better on gas, & certain creature comforts, so I’ll take it out every now and again!
I purchased the storage bin with bamboo lid from my local Staples. Unfortunately, I don’t have a link for it. Here’s the link to the USB Camping Fan; Hanging; Rechargeable: amzn.to/3Vk0Bxw
Hi Renell! I purchased this bamboo top container on the clearance aisle at Staples. Amazon currently sells a similar style, but with different dimensions.
I’m not sure where you live, but if you have a Homegoods, check out their inventory! I just found some really cute bamboo top storage containers at my local HG today, and they were reasonably priced!
I have an older Tucson (2013) and when the seat is folded down all the way it’s not totally level with the cargo space, there is a slight angle, is yours the same?
I have an older Tucson so no screen, no split rear sets so I have to fold down both rear sets and they do not lay flat. Can’t afford a yeti so this doesn’t help me at all.
I consider this setup as an idea only. It can be customized according to budget, suv type, etc. If the desire to travel this way intrigues you, you can totally do it! All the best to you! Thanks for watching!
Hi Maddyg! 👋🏽 Yes. I have custom fit window covers from Weather Tech. I have several lighting options, including a solar Luci light, lighting on the USB rechargeable fan, and an LED flame less candle.

Sweet set up. Please link Folgers can sink fauce. And explain that a little more. It’s quite neat
Here are your requested links:
Maxwell house coffee: amzn.to/3EoBAuB
Drinking water dispenser: amzn.to/3NW9iuD
Dang that backseat organizer is currently unavailable. However, I will look into a different one. Very nice setup
I love the backseat organizer! It’s a convenient place to store essentials while traveling!
Where did you buy the white storage with bamboo top?
Hi Anni!👋🏽 I purchased it at Staples a while ago. I found it in their clearance section!🙌🏽 I’ve found some similar options at Homegoods.
Sweet setup!! :)
Thanks so much!✨
I use an air bed, which can be packed away .
Brilliant, space-saving hack! Do you find that it’s a nuisance inflating and deflating it consistently, or is it no bother?
Great set up! How many watts is your Jackery?
Thanks!✨ I have both the Jackery 240 (my first purchase) & the Jackery 500. I use the Jackery 500 the most, as my electric skillet, tea kettle, and mini rice cooker pull more power than the 240 can support.
Really great ideas :)
Thank you 🙏🏽✨
Very nice set up. Great info
Thanks, Aelicia!💛✨
Borax makes detergent work better and leaves laundry smelling nice
I’ve heard Borax works great! I think it was one of the ingredients in my homemade laundry soap back in the day. Thanks for the tip!✨
pleasant voice 💜 did you give a apx total for your set up ? thank you.
I car camp in a Honda fit. tiny and cozy.
Loved it!
Thanks, Laura! 💖
Beautiful
Thank you!✨
@@lakikaia thank you so much! This is great to know, I'll check out the Santa Fe as well 🙏🏻
Nice and simple set-up.
Awesome. Do u by any chance have link for the warming food oven and the glass container with utensil space that was inside?
Hi Kay! I've attached the links below :)

Awesome videos if you ever inSanta fe new mexico they have Yurts to rent in Hyde Park way up in the mountains that are amazing safe travels blessings your way.
Sounds great!✨Thanks for the tip! God bless!
Hi Laki! What is the Brand of the seat organizer that hangs on the back of the seat? Enjoyed your video and the pretty items for your car/RV.
Hi LW! 👋🏽 Thanks for watching my video, & for your kind words! I’ve included a link to the backseat organizer from Amazon: amzn.to/3TUDTu3
@@lakikaia Thanks so much Laki. I bought it from your link along with other items you shared. I’m practicing ways to be comfortable living and traveling short distances in my car. The positivity of your videos helps.
Thanks so much LW! ✨ I hope your space is everything you want it to be! Safe travels!
Nice!
Very nice!
Thanks so much!✨
Hi Laki, love your setup and great video!
Really helps, thanks so much!! Cheers@@lakikaia
Are you primarily doing weekend camping? I didn't see any clothes, dishes, cookware, personal hygiene, electronics, cleaning stuff, etc.
I love your setup I can’t find the bamboo lids and container the green one
Thanks so much, Ralonda!✨I purchased the storage container with bamboo lid on clearance at my local Staples. Amazon has some similar options, but I haven’t linked those, because I don’t own them, and can’t speak to their quality. All the best to you! Thanks for watching my video!🫶🏽
Súper súper me encantó ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Gracias Nubia Silva!🥰
awesome vanlife4ever!
Thanks Darrell!🙌🏽✨🚌
@@lakikaia awesome video
That works !
Thanks!✨
sink bottom as a cutting board is not a good idea, the sink is most likely pretty dirty, and if you use it as a cutting board it may contaminate your food. while you are out camping, staying healthy is most important, don't get food poisoned due to a dirty sink
great tips
Thanks!✨
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your support & for the Super Thanks!!🙌🏽💛✨
Love the pillow! What’s the company? Where can I find it? Great video 👌
Thanks, General SHIB!✨ I purchased the pillow cases from IKEA.
Target still carries them in stores for a relatively low price (around $5 locally).
what’s REI
Also, best wishes on your Ford Edge setup! Happy & safe future travels!
I acquired a Euhomy 21 quart 12-volt fridge freezer on Prime Day. Have been testing it out on long drives: so far so good, although I suspect when I start to use the car for camping, I might regret not getting a larger one. Although I will not need a lot, this cridge is pretty small.
Thanks so much for the well wishes!
Hi great video, i was wondering how tall you are? I'm looking to get a tucson for car camping but i am not sure if i will fit.
Thanks! I’m 5’2”
Its dimensions are as follows: EXTERNAL DIMENSIONS
16.6"W x 14.0"D x 17.4"H
(42.2W X 35.6D X 44.2H CM)
INTERNAL DIMENSIONS
10.8"W x 8.1"D x 13.4"H
(27.4W X 20.6D X 34.0H CM)
Hope this helps! Safe travels! Thanks for watching my video!✨
@@lakikaia thank you so much!

Thanks so much!🙏🏽💛✨
Hey there! Where did you get the bamboo lid storage and essential oil diffuser please?
Hi, Mandy! 👋🏽 I purchased the plastic tote with bamboo lid on clearance at Staples a while ago. I honestly don’t recall where I purchased the essential oil diffuser; my apologies. Thanks for watching my video!🫶🏽
Beautiful!!!👠🚌👠
How long does your Yeti cooler keep food cold? How often do you have to replace the ice?
Hi Kathleen! I typically use the ice packs that come inside of the Hello Fresh meal prep kits, as I can keep them frozen until using them with the Yeti cooler. These packs hold for about two days before needing to be replaced. The ice packs and the insulation bag (again from the hello fresh meal prep kits) inside of the Yeti keeps food consistently cold. Most of the food I carry can be stored at room temp though. I keep the Yeti on hand for when I want cool beverages, or to initially cure sweet potatoes from my garden.
Do you roll the windows down while you sleep, and if so how do you keep bugs out??
Does it hurt your back at all though that the seat doesn't fold down completely flat?
Because of the memory foam mattress topper, I barely feel it. I do notice it slightly, but not enough to interfere with my sleep.
Your voice is so cute 😊
Thanks, Greg!😊
Do you have a link for that basket with the cutting board top and for the fan?
I purchased the storage bin with bamboo lid from my local Staples. Unfortunately, I don’t have a link for it. Here’s the link to the
USB Camping Fan; Hanging; Rechargeable: amzn.to/3Vk0Bxw
Thank you so much.
Great set up, question... where did you get the nice bamboo chest?
Great, tks for your response!
I have an older Tucson (2013) and when the seat is folded down all the way it’s not totally level with the cargo space, there is a slight angle, is yours the same?
Hi, Megan!👋🏽 Yes, mine is the same. A thicker memory foam makes the slight angle tolerable. I honestly get a good night’s sleep on it.
Where do you get those toilet bags?
I purchased them from Amazon. Here's my link: amzn.to/3VH56Vs
I believe they also sell them at REI. Thanks for watching my video!
What do you do for a living ?
Small business owner.
Is that a twin mattres
Hi, Amanda!👋🏽 It’s a full size memory foam mattress topper that I trimmed down to fit using scissors.
Do you have window covers and lighting for inside at night?
Hi Maddyg! 👋🏽 Yes. I have custom fit window covers from Weather Tech. I have several lighting options, including a solar Luci light, lighting on the USB rechargeable fan, and an LED flame less candle.
