MJ could have made multiple tracks from this. Is It Scary also has a similar vibe to Ghosts which i also love, i just wish Blood on the Dance Floor was a full studio album rather than a remix of HIStory for the most part. The 90's is an often overlooked decade for Michael. I find that it's his most creative and purest.

When it comes to Background Vocals, The way MJ was hearing all kind of instruments come together before they even started recording, Ad Libs, beatbox, Harmonies and layering, MJ is simply the best. There’s so much work that went into every single song of his, it’s crazy! And the way he CHOSE to make himself sound imperfectly perfect. Ghost had 2 (maybe 3) working sessions. Initially, we had "Is it scary" ( "Family thing" and "Seeing voices" too), working for the movie "Adams family values". Project abandoned in the summer of 1993. In 1994, for the album "HIStory", MJ worked to include "Is it scary" and derived a new track "Ghost". Neither of the two tracks were chosen. Then, in 1996 (perhaps even late 1995), MJ resumed work on the video for "Is it scary" initialy for the Adams film BO. He worked with "2 bad" for the link with the "HIStory" album and "Ghost" rather than "Is is scary". The project will result in the 96 short film "Ghost". In the film (at least the first version), the sessions of '94 are used and not much improved since Teddy Riley does not intervene. The title was therefore not totally finalised and it is not known if any additions were made. Then, with the "Blood on the dance floor" project, MJ and Teddy reworked and finalised "Ghost" at the beginning of 1997 to give the version known today. Here, these are the '94 sessions (maybe 96). That's why the 97 additions are missing. For the story, with the release of "Blood on the dance floor", the short film "Ghost" will be reworked. Really appreciate your de-constructions videos. Wouldn't it be cool if Artist's/Record Company's and the big music streaming sites like Spotify and Apple released not only the artists music catalogue but their multi-tracks as well and even provide a way of, for example of using some advanced AI software that you could use the bass line in one song and the drums in another and mix them together where the AI automatically tunes and beat-matches the individual parts. Think of using the bass line of Billie Jean to the Bee Gees You Should Be Dancing with the brass section from Earth Wind and Fire. It would be a more rich experience for the consumer.

It appears you have some of MJ's original Demo mixed in with the final tracks of the song. He began writing this in the early 90's for "The Aadams Family" movies. The song was never placed on the Soundtrack for the films. And Jackson reworked the song for 1997's "BOTDF" Album. By that time, the demos were over 5 years old. There are also various demos and Remixes on the internet, for the song. It's was eventually released in Europe and Asia, as part of the "Michael Jackson's Ghost's" film. Which even had a premier at the Cannes Film Festival.

This was really cool. I can imagine the perscussion parts were made first and the song was made around that. As a drummer I have recorded patterns over patterns just for fun, I bet MJ had a lot of input in the percussion.
Teddy Riley, (Dangerous album producer) always Mumbled/Skat the songs in idea format with the inflections before sticking the lyrics... An amazing tool for all musicians to get a song started.
I'm singing along so damn much that I have to keep rewinding it so I can hear you what you're saying and so I could hear the original This is such a hot track and the way he put things together is pure genius
Well this is unfinished , its the recording session for the demo version of the track and still a work in progress which paved the way too the final lyrics and structure and feel of the song . I don't think it's ONE thing... It sounds like a ring mod effect over some sampled percussion. But I didn't say that in the video because I'm not sure haha.
@@chrisliepe I KIND of agree, but I also hear that "bass line" you referred to under the sound, making me wonder if that's the case. It's very quietly going "buh-bada-bum, buh-bada-bum, buh-bum-bada-dum."

Another great breakdown, Chris! Showing all these videos from MJ really reinforces his aptly named title of “The King of Pop”. I mean he really was through all his abilities in making these songs come to life and sure he had some help along the way, but mostly these videos of you breaking down the stems of these popular songs of his, showcases what a pop master he was on stage and in the studio.
Not sure if you realized it or not Chris but the beginning of the song where it sounds like a choir, that's Michael. And thats what you were hearing when you started the vocals section of the the break down
08:50 - sounds almost like heavy modulated/ synthesized (don't know how to call it) spoken words. now, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but wouldn't it be freakin' mindblowing if MJ really did hidden a message in that sound?! 🤩
Can you try to get Tupac’s recording sessions? I believe he put little Easter eggs in his music . Sometimes you can hear him talking in the background but it’s not clear. I would love to to hear some of them.

El tono e impostacion de la voz, los instrumentos y el ritmo, hacen de esta canción una maravilla, gracias por compartir. desde Chile 🇨🇱
I love how you break down Mike's style in vibrato!!! So unique
These videos are a gift! I love the song, very underrated, both for the music, the lyrics and the video. Thank you so much!! ❤❤
Teddy Riley, (Dangerous album producer) always Mumbled/Skat the songs in idea format with the inflections before sticking the lyrics... An amazing tool for all musicians to get a song started.
I'm singing along so damn much that I have to keep rewinding it so I can hear you what you're saying and so I could hear the original
This is such a hot track and the way he put things together is pure genius
does anyone know how the sound at 8:59 is made?
Great Video... I would personally like to hear Tabloid Junkie broken down.
Tabloid Junkie is reported to have more than120 single tracks. I hope we can hear them soon ;-)
Can you do Is it Scary next???? That track has amazing vocals…
Well this is unfinished , its the recording session for the demo version of the track and still a work in progress which paved the way too the final lyrics and structure and feel of the song . He did it constantly. But so cool to hear the B.V stacks and other little regular antics of Mike on the mic!
Omg I’m very impressed with his way to compose this song he is a genius oh man
Mike sampled James Brown's "I am Somebody".
I have been trying to find the right words to express my excitement for the past 12 days..😭😭 Thank you Chris... this is mind blowing.... please do "Stranger in Moscow" if you got it (that clap is one of my favorites), then "Who Is It"
We definitely need a 5.1 mix of all Michael Jackson studio albums
Agreed!
8:48 Seriously, I'm begging you. You called it the prominent one. It's been killing me for years. PLEASE tell me you know what this sound is other than "that thingy from Ghost."
You are so killing Mee... I can't even. Watch. Everytime I feel like i have to calm down and after day. Or so , than i can return and watch these awesome masterclasses.. i know you know, butdoyou know how big this is how lucky you are to get the most iconic pieces of music in history to analyze like that. And also how lucky we are...?? I can't watch. Now...
My all time favorite Michael Jackson song, great analysis!
Can you PLEASE PLEASE PLEAS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEAS PLEASE PLEASE PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSEEEEEEE do "Break of Dawn"??!!!!!
OMG CHRIS IVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOU TO DO GHOSTS, imma watch it now im so excited!
Ghosts is my favourite short film! This video is amazing, thank you!
I have been loving the Michael Jackson videos that you have been putting out!
This is my favorite song by him because I can never get tired of the addictive beat....ever lol but can you do in the closet next?
i’m sorry but 23:38 lowkey reminds me of cupcake remix moans an i can’t think of it in any other way💀
Coule you pleaaase do Stranger in Moscow ?? Love
Not sure if you realized it or not Chris but the beginning of the song where it sounds like a choir, that's Michael. And thats what you were hearing when you started the vocals section of the the break down
🔥🔥 Michael Jackson is a genius! Talent. Thank you for showing this.
