What I love about Lorraine is that I've never seen anybody look like she loves being in a band quite as much as she does. Every live video I've ever seen, she's having a ball. :)
Yes!!!! Here in Australia, this band is considered a one hit wonder with Real Gone kid, but from Raintown onward, they've produced soooo many good songs. I know that these requests were very much personal, that few would even know about this band, but I'm seriously loving this!!! When I did eventually get to see them live in Sydney, the roadies chose me to give the playlist to at the end of the concert. The guy next to me literally punched me in the face and took it from me and ran. I was so pissed off. It took me a while afterwards to put things in perspective and realise just how much I enjoyed the concert. That was, after all, the whole point of being there. Great band. Fantastic live.
What a night that was. I was right at front (both nights they filmed vhs/dvd over). Been a lifelong Deacs fan and see them regularly and only night that ever came near to that was last year(2023 at glesca hydro). They often do a wee mash up of other artists songs as intro to some of their tunes. One of my favourite ones from same gig is dark end of the street/when will you make my phone ring. Give it a listen guys you won't be disappointed infact watch the whole damn show for a night of totally awesome entertainment ax
I'm from the same city as Deacon Blue but in 1990 i found myself working in a hospital in London, underneath the hospital were loads od echoe'y tunnels and i used to sing Dignity at the top of my voice walking through them. Later there were reports of ghosts in the tunnels singing lmao. By the way whilst i was in London i met Wendy James from Transvision vamp, i tried to have a conversation with her but i ended up walking away from her out of frustration that she couldn't understand a word of my Glaswegian accent.
In a recent interview Ricky Ross (lead singer) said he wants to give everyone who comes to see them the best night of their lives. From every clip I’ve seen, I think him and all band have done that every time.
For a band, there is no party like a Scottish party. We are the loudest, maddest, maddest and most emotional rollercoaster of a crowd you will ever experience.
If you need more Deacon Blue suggestions you could try Cover From The Sky that has Lorraine on lead vocals, Chocolate Girl, Fergus sings the blues, Twist & Shout, Wages Day or Queen of the new year. Not to forget I'll never fall in love again. Ricky & Lorraine still look at each other the way they did in the 80s even though they've been married for 32 years now.
No matter what genre you are into, a good song is a good song.metal bands can learn from them, how to connect with the audience, to have them in the palm of your hands.
In the UK especially Scotland this band is massive with loads of hits with Dignity being an anthem.
Every true fan knows the lyrics to Dignity backwards..lol
And Ireland. ☘️
As a Scot, it's impossible to hear the crowd sing this and not cry 😭

Class track. Love your hair on this one.

Lorraine is a force of nature, I have seen Deacon Blue many times from 1987 to earlier this year and she still gives 110% every show

Emocionante canción de Deacon Blue, volví a mis tiempos adolescentes cuando quería grabarla desde la radio en cassette . Saludos desde Argentina !

The album Raintown is an absolute classic
I don't know what I loved more, the brilliant live version of one of my favourite ever songs or your reactions which were awesome!!!!
A good Deacon Blue song to react to would be 'Loaded', great tune.
Thank you 🏴
Fantastic band
If Scotland had a heartbeat then this is it !!!
Fergus Sings the Blues is my favourite DB song but nobody seems to react to that one 🤷🏻♀️ It’s really catchy!!

And the live versions of Orphans - especually to hear Lorraine reach for the Stratosphere - or Circus Lights to see her dance like a loon. :)
My karaoke song 💯🌟🌟🌟🌟
