Patti definitely should be on more talk shows. Btw, anyone who hasn't seen those basement videos should absolutely check them out. She got us through last year.
In the excerpt they showed here, she acted like a squirrel on crack. 😂 I really loved her in the video she did with Randy Rainbow - did you watch that?
I saw Patti in Company on the West End. The magnetism she has on a stage is unbelievable. Amazing production. - I'm very jealous of the people who get to see it on Broadway now.
OH MY FREAKING GOD... PATTY FREAKING LUPONE!!! What I wouldn't give to sing just once with this goddess legend! Of course she loves Seth! There really isn't a word in existence that can describe the wonder that is Patty!
I saw her in the London production - phenomenal powerhouse. The moment she comes on stage, her star power is incandescent. You know in a heartbeat, THAT is a STAR
I saw that production too, with Michael Cerveris and a stripped-down cast playing all the instruments. We knew we would be visiting New York from the west coast of Canada and my husband got me tickets as a birthday/Christmas gift. It was brilliant!
@@barbararoden2757 Yes! Michael Cerveris. What a wonderful story. Sweeney Todd is far from my favorite musical but my ex loved it so I got him tickets for Christmas. I’m in NY and have seen a lot of theater (grateful) and this stands out as one of the best. I think because it was so pared down. The performances stood on their own!
She also did Sweeney with SF Symphony. Musically, it's the best Sweeney ever. And Patti is fantastic! She adds sex snd sly wit that Angela did not have. If you like Sweeney, it's a must-see: ruclips.net/video/85MJ2V4KJK8/видео.html
I only discovered the musical theatre world when I started watching the Tony Awards a few years ago. Everytime she shows up she got an standing ovation just for BEING there, so I got she's a theatre goddess. So now I'm pleasantly surprised of how vulnerable she is. A normal, fun person. She should do more TV and movies!
I saw Company a few weeks ago. Patti was off that day (her understudy was AMAZING, though.) but I had NO idea Patti was 72. GIIIIRL I thought she was in her mid 50s. Maybe that's just me not understanding how time works but WOW.
The way that Patti talks about people like Seth and Stephen is so eloquent and respectful and very honest and i would like to articulate my thoughts like her when i am older
On my second of three visits to Company in London (yes it’s that good a production) I was waiting for someone outside the theatre and Patti Lupone walked up the road.. no drama no diva just a chance for me to say thank you to a great talent …
I saw her crossing the street after Company on Broadway! I didn’t speak to her but it was kind of mind-boggling that a living legend was just... there in front of me.
There are lots of us who are far away, or indisposed due to family or work, or with disabilities and conditions that keep us stuck at home. During lockdown but also ongoing, these remote connections are So important, and thank you for doing it.
Anybody remember her on that series Penny Dreadful? And that one time she guest starred on Will and Grace, and Jack flashed on her was the very first time I'd heard of her. She's an alright human.
She made Vanessa stand in the rain for days. 😉 great role on PD for her as a witch taking Vanessa on as an apprentice. Miss that show. She had a dual role as the psychiatrist
She is one of my many Broadway queens, idols & divas I wish I could share the Broadway stage with or sound stage with, but I know I don’t deserve to perform with her. How cute & funny is she with that pinball, juke box basement tour video! I had no idea she’s such a hoot! I’m sorry for her loss of her friend & colleague, Mr. Stephen Sondheim. May he Rest In Peace 😪🙏. This is just a fabulous interview between Seth & Patti. Bravo! 👏👏👏
First time Jakal - I cannot believe you had Patti on your show and didn’t tell her about Co-Op. I saw Company 2 weeks ago and I’ve been singing “I gotta go to the eye doctor now” since.
It is just me or he actually wanted to say that he was fine with being without live audience and then asked that question about her videos to actually tell about his experience with "us"?
She seems like a genuine fun person; anyway, I wonder why she didn't say she did Company a decade ago with a stellar cast including Neil Patrick Harris, Jon Cryer, and even Steven Colbert? Maybe she was just talking about it just with working with this current director.
Lucky enough to have her twice on stage. Once in "Gypsy" and again in "War Paint." Very few performers so dominate a stage by their mere presence. Here is her 11 o'clock number from "War Paint." ruclips.net/video/SkMc31jFJnI/видео.html
Somewhat shameful that "A Closer Look" is still stuck on that insane four-year period that Ms. Lapone has endured through (for whatever reason, Seth steers clear of other topics like the Amber Heard - Johnny Depp feud and the 'Markles' and their fights against the media and parts of the public. My surmise is that he will not cover the serious allegations against Chris Noth when he returns on the first week of next month).
Good grief, did she really need to use the F word so many times when filming in her basement that she hadda get bleeped?…No class at all. Even though I know there is much more to her, in the basement clip, she came off as an attention-starved spasmodic rather than an a polished professional who was anxious to reconnect with an audience. (BTW, in some of the more “crushing” notes from Sondheim to which she referred….he was actually being diplomatic and kind!!!)
Patti definitely should be on more talk shows. Btw, anyone who hasn't seen those basement videos should absolutely check them out. She got us through last year.
always appreciate seeing your support in the comments 'Joanne's Vodka Stinger' person
I wish she would post more of those basement videos. They brought so much joy
In the excerpt they showed here, she acted like a squirrel on crack. 😂

Where did she post them?

I traveled to London to see her I in Sunset BLVD!
I so agree…..
Trip from Chicago to London to see her in Company. Fantastic.
Saw it on Broadway last month! Every one of Patti’s moments were the greatest thing I’ve ever seen on a stage.
Just saw it tonight. What a legend!
If the legendady and iconic Patti Lupone freaks out about a bad note, then I don't feel so bad feeling anxious at work about feedback lol
She spoke for all of us in the beginning there.
OH MY FREAKING GOD... PATTY FREAKING LUPONE!!! What I wouldn't give to sing just once with this goddess legend! Of course she loves Seth! There really isn't a word in existence that can describe the wonder that is Patty!
She is so real. That is incredbly valuable. We need more of that.
Company was incredible, loved Patti Lupone’s performance, funny, sad, had it all
I saw her in the London production - phenomenal powerhouse. The moment she comes on stage, her star power is incandescent. You know in a heartbeat, THAT is a STAR
Can we have a whole hour of Patti and Seth? Just nothing but these two bouncing off each other.
We need day drinking with Patti Lupone
This woman is a delight and a national treasure.
I'd like to propose a toast. ✨
👍🏾
Here's to the ladies who lunch
A toast to that invincible bunch!
I was so incredibly lucky to have seen her on B’way in Sweeney Todd. She is magnetic and awe inspiring as a performer and a wonderful talk show guest.
I saw that production too, with Michael Cerveris and a stripped-down cast playing all the instruments. We knew we would be visiting New York from the west coast of Canada and my husband got me tickets as a birthday/Christmas gift. It was brilliant!

Behold! Yellow Diamond! Isn't she magnificent?! 🤩💛
I see you too are a man of culture!

When Patti Lupone calls someone else scary, watch out. Lol
right??
Her memoir is wonderful and in all her interviews she is just so whip smart and on point about EVERYTHING and also so lovably transparent
i love patti on talk shows and she has great chemistry with seth!
I saw Company a few weeks ago. Patti was off that day (her understudy was AMAZING, though.) but I had NO idea Patti was 72. GIIIIRL I thought she was in her mid 50s. Maybe that's just me not understanding how time works but WOW.
Yes! Thanks for having Patti on! I adore her.
This was the best interview on this show. Please have Patti on more often Seth it was perfect.
She's lovely.

I love it when she sings Ladies Having Lunch!!! So nice!!!

she is so fun and such a ball of energy. i love her !!
Loved Patti in her basement videos!
Anybody remember her on that series Penny Dreadful? And that one time she guest starred on Will and Grace, and Jack flashed on her was the very first time I'd heard of her. She's an alright human.
Was that the one with her "brassy, magnificent trap"?
She made Vanessa stand in the rain for days. 😉 great role on PD for her as a witch taking Vanessa on as an apprentice. Miss that show. She had a dual role as the psychiatrist
So you have remembered the least significant and important role of her career?
Well penny dreadful was fabulous as well as sweeney Todd etc 👏
I appreciate Seth and co having so many interviews re: live theater
Adorable. Enthusiastic. Boss.
The last thing I saw her in was that Hollywood show on Netflix, and she totally rocked it. :)
YES! What she said right at the beginning! Thannnnnk you, Seth!!! You level us!!!💓
She was hilarious as Frank's mom on 30 Rock.
Their rapport in this clip makes me really wish for a Day Drinking with Patti segment
The legend! Love her on Broadway, adored her as Corky’s mom❤️
Absolutely love her!
Fell in love with her in Ryan Murphy’s “Hollywood”. Always a spectacular presence
great in Beau Is Afraid!
Such a great interview! A true dame and a broad in the best sense! 👸🏻👸🏻👸🏻
I would watch a show hosted by Patti, any day!
Could you see Patti and Seth day drinking???? It could be magic…
She needs to get a Kennedy center honor soon for her contributions to the culture of the arts.
Legend. I love her
Queen!
Who’s a fan of Patti because of the early ‘90’s tv show “Life Goes On”? 👋🏼
🙋♀️
Those basement videos are such a boost of serotonin 😅
Dude how did you not bag her for Cicada Cicada???
This comment wins
Being with her on stage was the biggest thrill of my life. She looks great at 72. A national treasure.

Patti Om fucking lord! She is one of the one great artists ever
She is Broadway!!
I with Patti on A Closer Look.
I don't know Patti's stage career but my only real look at her work was in the Gothic horror TV show Penny Dreadful and she was excellent.
You really should familiarize yourself with her stage work. She's an absolute legend, and rightly so. 😊❤️
Certified h00d classic
The basement videos, truly the spirit of lockdown
She seems like a genuine fun person; anyway, I wonder why she didn't say she did Company a decade ago with a stellar cast including Neil Patrick Harris, Jon Cryer, and even Steven Colbert? Maybe she was just talking about it just with working with this current director.
I’d like to see miss patti in another drama or sitcom.

Patti dear God xD
I agree. Same Seth, thank you. You and Colbert got me through. And lol I’m Canadian Also ❤️ Fauci
Aunt Zora!!!!! Jesus I'm a total philistine.
Where can you find those videos? RUclips?
Seth, you forgot to mention that Patty got a shout out on only murders in the building.
What she said!!!
One day we'll be able to talk about what the pandemic was, especially the first year, what it did to us, the strenght we found, the wound it left
I only remember her from oz
Omicron...it ain't over...not for sometime still.
Didn’t Forbidden Broadway give her the same note 40 years ago?
Thumbnail tricked me. I thought this was about making a hideous Jack-o-lantern.
“Congrats to Everyone who is early and found this comment”

I like Patti LuPone’s talent but she’s a bit of a diva.
