There's something about a certain combination of melodies and lyrics that make me weep at their sheer beauty. So many Sondheim songs bring that out in me, and they'll be even more poignant now. Rest well, you titan.
Never tire of listening to Sondheim's music or seeing him interviewed. Genius. What a beautiful compliment he paid to Oscar Hammerstein when he said that he wanted to be like him so much that if Oscar had been an archeologist, he would have become an archeologist. Hammerstein was the father that Sondheim should have had and thankfully they both recognized that and shared that relationship.
Seven Sondheim, you will be so dearly missed! You were a man of many great words, a man of many worlds and a man of many wonders. Your amazing work will forever carry your legacy and your name will surely thrive in the many years to come.
There must be some invisible deep connection when someone writes the scores and the other sings.. To me, bigger than a friendship, relationship and courtship. I don’t know how the two of them feel, but I feel moved, head to toe, watching this.. 🙏🏼💯💖💋
Actors Without Scripts - The Musical. I’d love to see that happen on the stage. Patti and Stephen’s conversation inspired this idea because she didn’t have the words for how grateful she was to him.
What an extraordinary gifted man who brought the human spirit to the stage with beautiful melancholy melodies and poignant lyrics capturing the all too fragile and strength of the human soul
I take exception with Mo Rocca saying Sondheim "resented" his mother. To the contrary, as told in many interviews, Sondheim's mother was cruel to him throughout his life and eventually told him she regretted having given birth to him. His treatment of her was what she deserved.
i broke when patti cried. she knew. deep down in her gut I think she knew the end was coming.
Yeah, I think so too, and she also knew she was the lucky one of all of them, Chip, Donna Bernadette etc. to see him just once more.
Or, rather, that would be the last such occasion

Beautifully written my friend in Sondheim.
There will never be, and should never be another Sondheim.
Thank you Steven, we're all sorry grateful.
He musicalized every aspect of the human condition for 65 years. We are so grateful for him and his vast legacy.
He was such a finely-mannered, man. We know how feeling he was; hard not to imagine him weeping some, after the cameras were gone.

He has entered into the realm of the immortals.

I only enjoy crying when I cry with a Sondheim song
