That's Colombo Fort very old, cheap, messy and over crowded town like little India in Singapore. If you want more pieceful upmarket shopping, move to Colpetty and Bambalapitiya side just 15-20 minutes tuk-tuk ride from Fort. All the best and thank you.
Fruits with spices is very tasty. It's a bitter sting in your mouth. The long pineapple cut with red spices get served at cricket and rugby matches there in Sri Lanka. It's very refreshing. If you go to any major city in the world today they all look like Colombo.
Pettah is the busiest hub in cmb for wholesale & retail bargains .. everything you want from vegetables to cell phone accessories... spices tools etc ..
