I worked as a dive instructor in Sri Lanka and God i miss my Sri Lankan collegues, once the neighbors starts to recognize your face. These guys are absolute the nicest people I have met. Never felt unsafe there and made so many friends that are still close to me. I hope the economical situation gets better so I can start next diving seasom back in Hikkaduwa. I truly hope many more people from around the world, get there to see the beauty of this country!
@Jordan Belfort I was losing more money on equipment and travel costs than actually earning anything. Also insurance, PADI fees etc. Made around 500€/month, when working in less developed countries you mostly get the same pay as the locals. Long term I want to save more and be a little more secure if that makes sense.

Brus I'm proud of your dad for getting out there and experiencing different cultures. My dad was in his mid 60s the first time in his life he went overseas. He went to Bali, stayed in his hotel almost the entire time, swimming in the pool, eating sausage sizzles, lamb chops and steaks. Drinking XXXX and VB, listening to AC/DC and hanging out with other Aussie tourists lmao. No judgement on what other people choose to do on their holidays but he may as well have just stayed in Aus hahaha. Gotta love him.
Bali is like a 2nd home for yous Australians especially from Perth😁 My father in law is australian himself and badly wants to visit Bali but he can't go due to his health condition

The lassi is made from a base of fermented milk/yogurt, then blended with sugar, water, bit of salt and whatever flavour your wanted. At least that's how I make it.
I can recommend you trying the Sri Lankan made Buffalo curd made in clay pots mixed with coconut honey. You can purchase from a street vendor. I purchased from a vendor that came by my house

Luke, I know you are very generous but even Rs. 50 still counts as a pretty usual tip here in Sri Lanka except for those high-end restaurants. 50-200 is the average tipping in normal situations. And even servers don't always expect a tip although they'd appreciate one. And I really admire your gesture of always giving something more than the demanded price because it is worth a lot more to those people than you can imagine. Most of those people work too hard for a little amount of profit, so believe me your kind gesture is even greater than you think it is.
