Whirlpool Microwave turns off by itself

- Whirlpool Gold Microwave, model GH9185XLQ-0, turns off by itself after a couple of seconds. It then restarts. The timer and clock don't fail, just the actual microwaving. From what I can find on the web, it sounds like the magnometer could be bad, and EMI is interfering with the control board.
The solution I've read about is to insert a piece of foil or anti-static bag into the control board to shield it from EMI.
The other cause could be a bad inverter board. That part is about $125, so doesn't make much sense to replace that. - Хобби
Yes. There are three door switches, one of which interrupts the magnetron as you described. Inspect the switches and their wiring. Brush the terminals to remove any oxidation which could be interrupting continuity. Post a follow up so we know how it went!
No. The timer keeps going. The interlock switch is falsely concluding the door is open, (fan, light, magetron) but a redundant switch to the controller tells it to keep going. I have the same issue. Thanks for posting!
Ours just broke and did the same thing!! Scary! It’s like the car herbie
i don't understand what part is to be change?
What was your solution or fix? I have a 4 year old Panasonic NN-SN797S doing the same thing. I'd like to keep it, has lots of cool features, including a "beeper volume". Still able to cook on power level-5 with only an occasional outage - high settings will cause unit to kick off 10 out of 10 times. I'm guessing ours is the magnetron for $120 but we only paid $160 for the oven. I like fixing stuff but this is almost like stepping over a dollar to pick up a dime....
Interesting. So you think I can replace the interlock switch and be good to go?
I habe the same issue with my 17yo whirlpool microwave. Is there a permanent fix?
There wasn't a fix I could find that was more economical than simply replacing the microwave at the time. I'm hesitant to recommend anyone who isn't an expert open up a complex device like this and fix themselves, but there are lots of parts and DIY repair websites now that might have instructions and parts that are easier to order and swap out.
safety switches.
is your microwave broken
is ur microwave broken
No one going to do all that
