Drove across this bridge once and it was quite an experience. For those not familiar, Akashi Kaikyo is still the world's longest bridge in the category of central span length. 1,991 meters, yes, 2 freaking kilometers between the suspended points.
You reminded me of a work tour in Japan 5 or 6 years ago. We were on a bus crossing the bridge, and about 90 seconds in conversation stopped as we realized we were still not halfway. It's hard to appreciate the scale of this bridge without being on it. Thank you DR.
