Ted talk ; When you say you haw a lot in common whit somebody you need to determine whether thaws are surface level similarities or core level ones. Surface level similarities are susceptible to sudden changes, this includes hobbies like traveling or fashion. Core ones are mostly stable and consist of strong beliefs both religious and otherwise south as life philosophies on rearing children and or finances for example. Surface level similarities make for fun friendship but they will not translate well into relationships. As Op kindly demonstrated.
