I love that the song isn't at all about the drinking. It's about companionship. About having to work hard for a long time, but the work won't be that hard because they all work together. About having to fight...whatever the fight might be, you're always fighting together. And then basically for all those hard times, there will be a time to come together with your loved ones to just enjoy yourself and your friendship, knowing there's always someone there for you.
I loved your cover. It was amazing and also reflected what I think about that song.

The "old German song" was originally a Breton song "Son ar chistr" (Song of the cidre). It became famous in Germany in 1980 as the Dutch group "Bots" decided to translate their coversong "Zeven dagen lang" from 1976 into German. That's how old German this song is.

But it is not a German song, certainly not an old one, but a Breton one, composed in 1929, published in 1951. Then played by the very famous Breton harper Alan Stivell in 1970.
It became known in Germany by the Dutch band “Bots”, who played in front of 50,000 people at “Rock gegen Rechts” in Frankfurt, Rebstockgelände in 1979.
