This is my favorite men’s dance in ballet because of the skill level needed for the three men performing. Rarely in ballet do you see male group dance scenes, let alone having high end dancers perform.
This is by far the best choreography for this dance I’ve seen and I’ve seen a dozen different versions of this ballet produced by famous companies like the Royal Ballet Company or the Russian Bolshoi Ballet Company. Those are the top two companies besides New York. So it’s awesome to see that a smaller company like Boston’s has such amazing talent. I have seen this choreography performed twice, and without fail their male dancers put anyone else’s to shame.

A quick tip for non ballet folks out there: in most performances of the Russian dance scene the main dancer is usually played by the nutcracker Prince or the sugar plumb Prince. That’s why you will usually see Clara sitting by herself on this scene. However in this choreography it must be the sugar plumb Prince because the nutcracker Prince is sitting next to her.
Well thank you for that tid bit! I love watching male dancers in the Russian dance. The power behind the dance plus music is tremendous. I watched NYC 2011 full production, and the Russian dance was done by candy canes...? 😢
Also depends on if Clara and the Nutcracker are children or adults. If children they watch, adults they dance along in some productions or take the place of Sugar Plum and her Cavalier
@@johndavidson3600 true it’s usually in Balanchine or the original PNB version that had children but even there the prince was an adult and Clara became an adult for the end of Act 1 onward

@@danroberts9050 I don't even know... It would probably be good if presidential candidates took a mental health test. And a lie detector, where they would be asked questions: do you want to improve the lives of people in the country or do you want to create your own corruption. Most of the steps in this choreography are Ukrainian - jumps, turns, squats. Also, costumes look eclectic. But, all in all, it was done very professionally and clean.

I keep coming back to this because it’s by far the best choreography.
The height on the main dancer is getting on those jumps is crazy.
Love that Cossack breakdancing--and, oh, those mid-air splits... 😲
Молодцы! С огоньком исполнили, от души!
Amazing talent, choreography and orchestra. Wow.
Those turns, and those jumps! Cudos to them, their professional dancers for sure!

The Russians do “ dancing”just about better than anyone else.
Fact. I wish they would focus on dancing and quit being such a pain in the ass otherwise.

But these are elements borrowed from Ukrainian hopak... ?!
