I grew up going to see the Nutcracker in SF with my grandparents. I watch it every year. It reminds me of my grandmother who passed away a couple years ago. She loved ballet.

I am a party boy and a soldier in sugarloaf ballets 2021 nutcracker performance. This is one of the most professional and mature looking nutcracker performance I’ve seen yet. It felt so much like the Mariinsky ballet theatre production of the nutcracker. The party scene was so immersive. Battle was energetic. Snow was beautiful. And act II was a piece of beautiful art! As a ballet dancer for 8 years, I have to say… well done!!!
Have you seen the 1977 TV version with Mikhail Baryshnikov ??? It's just as good or better than this!

Tchaycowsky. Creo a no equivocarme, esta es la MEJOR versión o presentación de la GRANDIOSA Obra Musical que veo hasta la fecha, en mis largos e incansables años que veo este BALLET. Allá en 1992 aun cuando mi esposa y mis dos hijos estaban bien niños los lleve a ver este GRANDIOSO espectáculo allá en Lima-PERU y luego en USA (Stroudsburg-Pensilvania) vimos en DVD la muy buena versión americana…con el famoso actor (aun niño) de “mi pobre angelito”, esta versión es una de las mejores de todas las que vi a la fecha, pero…esta versión de la “Russian State Ballet & Opera House” supera a todas a mi modesto criterio. No les quito ningún valor a las otras presentaciones, que soy el menos autorizado… FELICITACIONES amigos rusos sobre esta única y EXQUISITA presentación.

I don't know anything about ballet, or even much about dance in general. I only know that I feel extremely lucky to be able to watch this for free on RUclips, and I enjoyed it a lot. I don't like Christmas, personally, but I think the Nutcracker is the best thing to come out of the season. So many beautiful works of art have come from it, this performance obviously one of them.

@@droxyy All that happens when you go out during Christmas in the wild is just hearing Mariah Carey again. I do not have the money nor the time to go to Christmas concerts, I'm not religious so I don't care to go to church, and everywhere else is just an ugly, tacky, vulgar display of "Christmas Spirit" junk. I wasn't kidding when I say I don't like Christmas. I wasn't being hyperbolic when I said The Nutcracker is literally the best thing to come out of the season. Literally nothing else about it is good, or appealing. Did I say Christmas is tacky already? Because "tacky" is the word for it.

My 3 year old wants to watch the whole of The Nutcraker over and over.
No matter where we lived, I always made sure to have tickets to take my two boys to see this preformed. The older they grew, the more delight showed on their faces and in there eyes. Love remembering those days!

No, it's not the best to watch. It's stilted and flat. Check out the NYCB Ballet, and you'll see the difference.

@DavidAsset78: I agree that Russian ballet is often stilted and flat. Great technique, but very mechanical and not much emotion. I prefer the ABT’s version of the Nutcracker, especially the pas de deux.

Wow! This is one of the best Nutcracker performances I’ve seen. It is only missing Mother Ginger! I watch the Nutcracker every year, it’s a beautiful Christmas story.

Yes, this would be from Saint.Petersburg I think, the capital of imperial Russian ballet and where the Nutcracker and Swan Lake were first performed. I watched this one on the Mezzo TV network several years ago...beautifully presented and played! What a delight to find it again! 💗💗
this is not so good tho, compared to the Bolshoy theater. you should watch it!
@@user-yk3rv7lt1o I've seen the Bolshoi's version too, when it was beamed live in HD to the local cinema theatre around five years ago. They were quite amazing of course when it comes to body artistry, rhythm, strength and graceful movement, but I don't see any reason to put down this production from Piter.
I've been giving myself these gifts for many years. I love both productions of The Nutcracker - the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow and the St. Petersburg production of the Mariinsky Theater. I still can't stop loving this work of art)))

Kudos to the Russian State Ballet company. Outstanding. Not a very rousing audience - sounded like ten people showed up.

Have you seen the original (1940?) Fantasia by Disney? They have exquisite animation (sprites gliding on ice) to this waltz and also some of the dances of the sweets kingdom: tea, coffee. Lovely.

Me & a few ladies JUST went 2 see the Cirque Nutcracker @ the Meyerhoff Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. The performance was mesmerizing!!! I CAN'T get it out of my HEAD!!!
Tchaikovsky actually visited Baltimore just before writing this. Imagine. I love that story.

I saw a live production in Clowes years ago with the German Club. Out of all versions I have seen, this certainly tops it with all the glorious costumes and just how incredible the ballet dancers were. Their poise never fails to impress. As an untrained dancer who loves to dance, I must say, 'WOW'. Incredible ! Merry Christmas from America !

People do not realize all the work behind a ballet, this one being particularly beautiful!
Congratulations to the dancers, choreographers, orchestra and decorators, it was wonderful thank you for sharing such wonders with us.
I just have to comment that you have the most exquisite name.
Some say it was performed during heavy covid restrictions so it can very well be a half-empty room.
I would guess it's because of the recording setup - they will have set it up to get the best sound from the orchestra, and the applause will only have been picked up peripherally. It was likely loud in the theatre, but sounds quiet on the recording because the microphones are directional. For something like this the sound engineer will want to pick up as little of the crowd noise as possible, so that it doesn't drown out the music (it seems likely that the sound we're hearing is essentially the live feed of what was being played in the theatre over the speaker system, rather than a mix done especially for the recording).
They sound like they are heavily clapping in unison, rhythmically in the style of perhaps Eastern Europe traditional sense. That’s my guess.
