Boston ballet surprised me in their choreography and high level of solid technique. Wonderful dancers. A joy to watch with such powerful music. Royal ballet is a disappointment. I expected to see more. Mariinsky keeping it authentic. The only place in the world that we can still see the original work from a hundred years ago.
I would say they were had the best choreography for this dance scene. I have seen this nutcracker hundreds of times from different ballet companies and I keep coming back to Boston’s as the best for this choreography and their technique.
Boston is by far the most fun and exciting, but the set is a bit somber. Still, this is the one I’d most prefer to watch! Royal… their technique is thrilling, but I can’t stand Clara and the Nutcracker elbowing their way into literally every divertissement. Can’t these two let everyone else have their moments to shine!? The set is even more somber than Boston. Mariinsky… is enjoyable enough, I suppose! Thanks for making this comparison!
Yes, the Royal choreography including Clara and the Nutcracker into the dance was the first time I'd ever seen that. Can't say I liked it, but the dancers did well.
Mariinsky was very folkloric but not terribly exciting. Boston provided the most excitement and was a joy to see. Royal ballet was plain. No other word. Just plain.
The Boston ballet by far takes the prize for best choreography and technique of the male dancers. I used to dance this every year when I was younger, and I have seen the nutcracker hundreds of times from dozens of different companies and I keep coming back to the Boston Ballet company for this specific dance.
And of course in the original, this dance was danced by candy canes (usually teenage boys with one adult lead) with hoops. Balanchine essentially recreated this for his version, as has the filmed Berlin Ballet's semi reconstruction of the 1892 original.
Real skills talents and efforts to able to dance like that are deeply appreciated even by Boston ballet great job people you should be proud way to go very impressed one of the best and favorite scenes ever go enjoy the holiday's hope to see you next year stay safe and warm out there stay strong and healthy as well go Yankees !!! Joe
Great job people you should be proud way to go very impressed great music and dance moves are deeply appreciated even at the nutcracker brings back lots of great memories stay safe and warm out there stay strong and healthy as well much love and respect and appreciation job well done you should be proud !!!! I just love those high flying middle splits 'movements' by all the male dancers from 3 different dance companies, namely, the Boston Ballet & the Royal Ballet & the Mariinsky Ballet ❤ ❤. Too, I also quite adore the three women dancers: Royal Ballet's Iohna Loots who is also a ballet coach at Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 Tanya Pearson Ballet Academy; Alisa Petrenko & Maria Lebedeva from the Mariinsky Ballet ❤ ❤ ❤. Tho for this compilation video, I give my vote to the 'Boston Ballet' who had danced so wonderfully ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤! Thank you always to @DanceLine Ballet ❤ 😊.
I'm just guessing, could it be this amazing Boston Ballet Nutcracker 'Russian Dance' perhaps was performed by . . facing my mob screen, on the left is 'Mamuka Kikalishvili' a dancer as well as martial artist, from Poti City Georgia . . . in the middle is Boston Ballet principal dancer 'Derek Dunn' . . . and on the right is 'Sun Woo Lee' from South Korea and he's an artist at the Boston Ballet.
The one aspect of the Royal Ballet’s I appreciate is them including Clara in the dancing. You usually don’t see that in most choreography. Usually the nutcracker prince does join in at some point but I’ve never seen Clara join except from the Royal ballet company.
it actually show that she is actually enjoying the realm of sweets. The candy canes seems close to the prince as well as if they are brothers. Just having the pricne and clara merely watching from the chair make them feel distant. Royal Ballet def a win for me
My top 2. MARIINSKY- Authenticity BOSTON- For sneaking in a fantastic hopscotching bravura more in the style of "Graduation Ball" than Russian dance, but who cares, I certainly don't. That principal in center is "Baryshnikov APPROVED 😅". BRAVO 👏!!! Loved it!!! The Royal, "Not Petipa approved". Awful.
Because in the second one the girl is called Clara and the story is slightly different. Both Clara and the Prince take part in the "sweets etc" dances in the third act.
Royal ballet was ridiculous here. Do they have other versions of the dance? This one was painful to watch. The dancers are good, the costumes and the directing are hideous

the mariinsky version has changed a lot. the version done by nycb is what balanchine saw when he was a child at the mariinsky.
I love all three. How can you choose between excellent...excellent...and...excellent. Have always been an admirer of different interpretations.
Boston pulled up and showed out!!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 By far the best in my opinion. BRAVO!!! 😊

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, we appreciate it! :)

The Royal Ballet costumes were awful - two of the dancers looked like General Custer - horrendous.

Virtuosismo, elegancia, precisión. Bello. Gracias por compartir.
Bravo Boston Ballet! Such energy and technique - my fav!

@@candidacarino669 FYI Sun Woo is now a Soloist
To @insaelliott1318, thank you very much for the info! And am glad to know 'Lee' is now a Soloist and very soon he will be a principal dancer ❤❤❤ !
@@candidacarino669 I hope so. We're season ticket holders and I'm a big fan!
Bravo to all three 🎉 They felt very "Russian" authentic!
I liked how Royal Ballet danced. It was too much great!
Im gonna have to vote for Boston. They look very young for that talent!!❤❤
Boston Ballet is my favorite. The Royal Ballet had a different musical arrangement and made it seem less exciting. The dancers were phenomenal though.
THIS is the quality of Russian dances (from the Nutcracker) that one would regularly see televised in the '50s and '60s. This is first-rate ballet.
The one aspect of the Royal Ballet’s I appreciate is them including Clara in the dancing. You usually don’t see that in most choreography. Usually the nutcracker prince does join in at some point but I’ve never seen Clara join except from the Royal ballet company.

I preferred the Boston version as I think the women in the other versions seemed off. I wasn’t fond of them. They all though, are beautiful.
My top 2.
MARIINSKY- Authenticity

The Royal, "Not Petipa approved". Awful.
Royal ballet choreography was spectacular
The royal ballet best
The Boston ballet had the best choreography but the Royal Ballet had the best story/character centered dance.
Why in second one Marie is part of the dance while in the others Marie is only an observer?
Because in the second one the girl is called Clara and the story is slightly different. Both Clara and the Prince take part in the "sweets etc" dances in the third act.

Royal ballet was ridiculous here. Do they have other versions of the dance? This one was painful to watch. The dancers are good, the costumes and the directing are hideous
I was laughing out loud at these ridiculous costumes: that's how the public cab drivers in 19 century's Russia looked like.
❤❤❤
Boston looked impoverished. Royal was my favorite, fun and magical.
I expected to love the Russian one, but I kinda don't :(
Maybe I'll point out that everything else is not a Russian dance. The first is the Ukrainian hopak, and the second is not clear at all what.
Russian Marinsky is better at the Milirton Dance
P r o m o S M 🌺
"Royal ballet is a disappointment." That's being generous.
Boston ballet lags behind the music
That’s Ukrainian Hopak not a “Russian dance”
My eyes bleed after first two performances .
👍👍👍👍👍👵🇦🇺
Em...this is absolutely ukrainian hopak)
