Yup. My 2019 GMC Sierra has different volumes for different “sources”, CarPlay, FM, On Star, etc. one is playing, when CarPlay or On Star comes in, other source actually stops until the interruption is done.
They have really let me down with this new system. As an owner of the 2022 Tundra I am not happy with the infotainment
system and the Bluetooth connectivity
I love the infotainment system in mine.
If you liked the system in the last generation tundra, this system is effectively the same with some improvements. I know a lot of people are disappointed in it solely because it is so big and doesn't contain a bunch of features.
That’s why you don’t buy 1st gen trucks my guy. But on the other hand, I guess someone has to buy it for the manufacturer to fix the problems. What a lovely world haha
2023 tundra platinum,,,,,, still does it, along with a pop up do you want to adjust your seat!! Otherwise great truck.
No problems with my 2021ram1500 classic tradesman quad cab 4x4 v6 great simple truck if I wanted a luxury car I would buy one!!! All that junk doesn't make your truck any better
I have the same truck. 8000km and nothing but problems so far.
What problems have you had?
@@1diggers1 From almost day one the parking brake sticks on when you turn the truck on 50% of the time. For it to release you have to turn the truck on and off 3-4 times. Then when diving the parking brake malfunction alert will come on and disable cruise control and other safety features. The fuel gauge shows completely full sometimes with less then half a tank. And to make it even better the truck has completely shut off twice when pulling into a parking lot and into a driveway. This has only happened twice both in the same day and I took it directly to the dealer. So far they can’t figure out what’s going on with it. Toyota told them to replace the parking brake actuator and now they have a ABS module on order. Oh and the infotainment center is very glitchy and sometimes has no volume at all.
This sounds like you have gotten very unlucky with your truck. I have the same truck and the only real issue I've had is the rear window seals are just absolutely garbage. I can't roll down my rear windows without them getting pulled in and smashed to death by the window when I roll it back up.
Get rid of that 70k Dumpster 🔥 , every video makes me love my 2018 5.7 even more.
The list for “fixes” is getting longer and longer for this truck. It seems impossible that they spent as much time as we all thought designing/developing this new Tundra. It almost seems like it was rushed to be released. I guess 14 years wasn’t quite long enough for them to get it right lol.
toyota isn't a software company
this. Ford and Ram are laughing at Toyota and GM
@@herewegoagain7403 neither is ford, gm, or ram. They seemed to have gotten the software right.
@@Cooldibs this is brand new architecture. how long has ford, gm or ram had theirs? should i remind you about the initial infotainment issues version 1.0 from the big three or we're not bringing it up?
I am sure it’s a combination of the multiple factors - covid, rush schedule, shortage etc.
I think we will get the “real” Toyota in 2-3 years at best.
I think they hype over the Tundra is fading. Everyone is seeing there really isn’t anything special about this truck. Toyota over hyped this truck just to be mediocre in the end. The Tundra is where it was suppose to be 3 years ago and is still way behind the competition. Toyota missed the mark on this one.
I just got my Tundra last week and this is driving me nuts. I have NEVER seen a system that operates this way and fails to auto mute the music. One thing that the video doesn't mention is that it is easier to just push the volume button to mute the music instead of turning it down. Push to unmute when done. But really, Toyota!!??
Not surprising. They have the absolute worst infotainment systems I've used, mounted in the fugliest interiors.
exactly
They have all these safety features on the screen but in fact these features are make you spend more time looking at the screen than at the road. The main problem I have is when listening to music from my USB drive, the Tundra constantly switches over to Pandora. I have an aftermarket amplifier and speakers. Eventually I will use the bluetooth on the amplifier to bypass the crazy screen.
I get that with the limited availability of parts across the industry that it can take longer and is more difficult to fix hardware and parts issues like the Turbo Wastegate issue. However, there is no excuse for the lack of polish on the infotainment system. It continues to be my biggest gripe with the '22 Tundra. C'mon Toyota, It's time for a Firmware update with a decent operating system. Either that or go with Google Drive like the new Silverado refresh has. The "little" issues with this infotainment system are getting more and more annoying every day.
Agreed. Simple fix and shouldn't take months to come out.
Toyota seems to be nothing but problematic these days: turbo issues, lock issues, infotainment issues. It's no wonder they used the same style for over a decade.
They've lost their identity. Too big too fast.
agree, tooooo many fixes needed on the new tundra
Make a video doing exact same thing in the refreshed 2022 Silverado. And make title "You can't do this in your 2022 Tundra" ... That might wake up the Toyota crew to fix it.
No problems with my 2nd generation Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro. Simplicity, quality, craftsmanship, reliability, durability, dependability, performance, highest resale value, longevity and piece of mind at its finest. Keep your widgets.
I also noticed it on my 2022 Tundra. My 2020 Honda CRV works great, like it is supposed to. This needs to be modified with hopefully a Toyota update!!! Thanks Tim.
Got the 22 limited and I have had nothing but issues with the infotainment system...this is but one of them. Android auto doesn't have this problem, but hey toyota does.
My 2020 kicks out the song when it tells me directions
Seems like this new tundra is a beta tester for them and the consumers are the ones losing here
Absolutely! Guinea pigs beware.
They only had 15 years to perfect it...
@@Bigboyz-li7fo only lol
Even my 2012 Camry turns down the radio when using voice commands. Then turns it back up when finished. That would drive me nuts!
So it works in your 2012 but not 2022? Hmmmm… sad actually.
That's what happeneds when toyota pushes these new trucks out so fast... its only been 15 years with the old model and there they go pushing out a new one.
WOW, talk about annoying. You would think for as loooong as it took Toyota to get this new truck out they would have figured out these little issues.. Seems like something they should have caught. I mean they do have this system in other vehicles right??? Tell Toyota that my Korean vehicle has it figured out, maybe they should give them a call.. Or maybe they did and they just can’t hear the conversation of the radio playing? I’m just confused 😕
Really
I have a 2020 and even the system in that an be frustrating at times like voice to text or asking Siri a question . It seems so slow, guessing it has weak processor.
My '21 F150 doesn't do that. It turns the volume WAY down when I say "hey Google".
The only reason this is annoying me is because my parking sensor beeps are under the same system so they can't be heard at all if the radio is playing. They used to reduce the radio noise, so I suspect that the update is what has caused this.
My 2014 Tundra radio glitches multiple times a day, freezes, reboots, etc. Glad to see Toyota has made no effort whatsoever to address this.
Yup. This is the same PoS head unit they have in Ford vehicles. As soon as there’s an aftermarket one, I’m replacing mine in my 23 Tundra.
I hope the y fix the bugs in a couple of years. With everything being wireless, that's going to be a deal breaker for those relying on the latest technology. I'm trying to set myself up for the next 4runner and it's a safe bet they are going to run the same system. I'm leaning more and more towards a Honda Pilot or Passport.
To many possible problems with the 2022 tundra i will pass on getting one
I am wanting on a remote start update to stop the truck from turning off when you unlock the door.
That's how Toyota does it, I thought it was weird too when I first got my RAV4 in 2019. It's supposedly to prevent theft.
You will need to wait a long time - Lexus gx from 2017 still waiting for it
Its odd at least to me that it doesn't just take over the voice and mute the radio or music or whatever automatically. I'm pretty sure it does that in my 2021 tundra at least with carplay. I hope they fix that with software soon.
What has been annoying me is that if you play a RUclips video between music from your phone, the volume will not turn up or down the volume.
Also my phone seems to disconnect and reconnect frequently. I've checked for updates but radio says up to date
I had a similar issue, turns out it uses Bluetooth an Wi-Fi to connect. Go to your Wi-Fi settings in your phone and make sure it’s set to auto join the network. That did it for me.
@@TundraRun thanks I'll try that
This might be a last straw. I use all the functions of CarPlay. If the system isn’t smart enough to pause/mute your radio, then that’s a problem. What’s weird is - as you indicated - they could easily solve this one and do so quickly. When Apple, Google, or MSFT release something new, there are many updates that come out every time. C’mon Toyota - is this the best you can do?
I would imagine if your music source is also through CarPlay then this isn't an issue... but maybe idk
It’s an issue no matter what .
Why is this even a factor, I work remote in Sales and constantly on the road but have all my dictation turned off! I don't see the need to for this feature since I enjoy my music much more than siri telling me what someone said! If my 2024 limited last me as long as my 2010 which is still running strong then that's what I'm more concerned with.
Idk, one man’s flaw is another man’s feature. I can’t stand the constant pausing of music by gps. If u wanna hear the gps better turn the music down beforehand. But for people like me that often run the gps just to get bearings of where you are I think it’s awesome it doesn’t pause the radio!!
Really disappointed in this truck! I was so hopeful they would get it right but I see nothing but mediocrity and problems.
The new infotainment is a total mess. My 2021 Tacoma has none of these issues. It also has a home screen, neat.
my Tundra does the same, hope they can fix with a software update
Yes, this is so annoying on my RAV4 2023!!
Ford software mutes the radio to read text or talk on phone,
That’s a odd oversight, glitch maybe? My iPhone will stop the music to give map directions, this has been done for a long time.
The one thing I’m so annoyed by and it is a big issue to me. Most of the time I’m listening to music when I travel. You can just use the Toyota car play and not your phone and it works perfect the music turns off or real low so that you can hear directions and messages. But does not work with seri (phone). TOYOTA WTH! Fix this pronto!
Glad I'm not alone.
All vehicles need over the air updates… at minimum via wifi.
Yep, I do believe they should be able to reprogram something to deal with this issue. It is a bit of a pain to deal with, especially on text messages. I'm not certain, but I think it works appropriately with "Hey Toyota."
It does if only have car play
If you catch Siri talking that will control her volume… if you wait until she is done talking then that’s the normal volume. FYI, It’s a good work around for the time being.
I find it annoying in my 22 Tundra that the different 'apps' all have different volumes. If I am using Google Maps via Apple Car play but listening to FM radio the volumes are way different. Switch over to Spotify from the radio., Even that volume differs from the navigation.
I noticed the volumes stay at the setting you left it at. It doesn't keep them at the same level when you switch to different sources. Kinda weird.
My 2011 Chevy truck changes the volume for me when on Bluetooth calls. They need to fix this!
How’s the centre armrest crackling?
I haven't had any issue with it.
@@Pickuptrucktalk that’s good! How’s the fit and finish in the interior? Any fitment issues or rattling?
@@nabatron21 interior is fine.
Your problem just popped up on my 2022 Tundra. The volume on my Messages via Apple Car Play is so low i can't hear anything !!! It wasn't like this until this week (May 2). I don't think there was an update from Toyota and i'm running iOS 15.4.1.
I found the SOLUTION!!
You go into "Settings" and then look for "Levels". In "Levels" you look for "System Voice". For some reason the System Voice was on low. I cranked it up to high and the problem is solved !! Try this.
Man looking at the comments here and replying to a few I must really be in the minority or on an island by myself!! This is such a non issue, I actually shut off my dictation because I have when my phone goes off while I'm driving and listening to my music!! Nothing worse than that group message that won't shut the hell up and goes on for 5 minutes straight. Ok let's address the "but what if it's an emergency".....typically if that's the case I'm getting a call and can answer or pull over to take, which I will do if needed. I bought my 2010 and 2024 for their longevity and not because it's a smart truck that needs to be an extension of my phone. My 2010 is pushing 300K and still runs like a champ, all ask for out of my 2024 is the same and I will be a happy camper!
My last gen 2021 Tundra has weird quirky volume issues similar to this. Volume can’t be adjusted on nav when routing somewhere. The sound is either on or off but I can’t change the volume of the sound for turn by turn directions. Also there are different volume settings for phone call vs radio. Just kind of odd how it functions. Seems like somethings did not get ironed out.
One final thing about my infotainment system that drives me so mad the WiFi internet turns it’s self off every time I shut the truck off. If I could turn it back on while driving I would not care but the truck has to be stopped to Initiate it. How is turning on my WiFi any more dangerous while driving then say switching from Sirius XM to a podcast 🤬. I had a Chevy before my Tundra I turned the WiFi on once in 2017 when I got the car new in the My Chevrolet app and it stayed on till I sold it in 2021! How can they build a truck that will go to a million miles but we can’t work out a simple infotainment system??!!??? 🤦🏼♂️
if you do the exact same thing from your Iphone, having music playing from any music app, and say "hey siri"... the music shuts off completely. So yes, this is another Toyota problem that the round table think tankers did not test. Starting to wonder if the think tankers tested anything at all. They probably just sat around all day playing games on their cell phones while getting paid by Toyota...
Get back into a FORD buddy!!
I just picked up my new 2022 1794 and have the same issue. VERY annoying!!
hello, I have a toyota tundra 2022 SR5 with the same problem, I would like to know how you solved this problem?
My voice controlled climate control doesn't work. It is supposed to work with or without a subscription, but it doesn't, even though I have a year subscription. When I tell it to set the temperature to 65 degrees, it tells me that feature is not available. Too many problems for the price of this truck!
Just so you know, there is no voice controlled temperature control on the Tundra. Only on the Lexus models for now. Something about the computer/electrical system on the Tundra won't do it.
I think you have kept your new Tundra longer than anyone. Most have swapped them off
You need to turn the volume up when siri or toyota is talking. It will adjust the volume of the voice prompts. fm am Sirius it plays over music an I just noticed when you play music with your phone it completely mutes audio when you say hey toyota. Nothing wrong with infotainment. Hope this helps....
When you tried to turn the radio down you turned the voice prompts all the way down not the music.
They are in the dust bin at the gas station?
This is 100% an Apple issue. I have zero of these issues with my Android device in my platinum.
Wrong! I came from an F150 that I ran CarPlay through. It did not have this issue but my new tundra does
my wife's avalon has had weird issues with a different version of the entune software. just last week we had no volume control when on bluetooth.
Yah, that’s is #2 of my gripes. #1 remote start.
The 2023 can remote start with the key fob
Just get the refreshed 2022 GMC , 3 litre diesel. Ordered mine 2 months ago, still waiting
Yea this is weird. If i’m in carplay and listening to an audiobook or podcast, it autopauses.
Who's working for Toyota these days
Tim, this is by design. When Siri is speaking the volume knob controls Siri’s volume. When not speaking it controls the radio volume. This is how modern cars do Siri integration. You get a dedicated speaker where voice commands come from and your media is not interrupted. There’s nothing to fix here.
Here's the thing. It isn't the same with all the modern vehicles. The Tundra is the only vehicle that does it this way.
This started after the last update though. The real problem with it is that it also doesn't quiet the radio now when the parking sensors start beeping so you can't hear the beeping at all if the radio is above like 12.
Sadly it’s the same way on my ‘24 Tundra Limited……so frustrating!
Dang that's crazy... so glad my 2020 Tacoma doesn't do this...
I turned volume up on steering wheel and worked for me
I can confirm that my 2016 Tundra turns down the music for texts. It also turns down for a lot of other things, but I think those are in the phone settings, the text is not.
I found out on my VW that you can change the volume of Siri while she is talking. While she’s not talking you can change the volume of the radio. Not sure if that’s how Toyota is doing it. Just fwiw
How do I get out of apple car play and back to FM radio? Sometimes it does not seem to give me the option to get into the menu, or show the menu, for regular local FM stations.
I’d love to know the answer too
Wow, this is nuts!!
It's like, roll this out the door. We don't have time to fix these issues, we will fix them later if there's enough complaints
Buy a 2023 Sierra with the Duramax - and a seat cushion - problems solved.
I was told by a Toyota technician that wait for 2023 or 24 model
I own a 2023 venza why when I have my day time running lights on my touch screen dims? How do I fix that
It’s a setting in CarPlay on the phone I thought? Be interested to see if it’s the same with android auto as well. A real minor annoyance I’d say
Nope. Phone is the same I use in several different vehicles with different brands.
2023 tundra limited has no audio pipe in on blind spot monitor
My truck doesn’t do this. Have you checked the settings/sound & media/levels. I’m here you can turn volume up on system voice and driving assist.
This can usually be done during playback of the system voice. For example, while you’re driving and you have a song playing and then you want hear the system voice for turn by turn directions start. Now, you instantly try to turn volume down. Problem is you’re thinking that you’re turning the volume down on the song but you’re turning down the volume for system voice if you time it right.
I had just bought the thunder of 2022 and his and can I listen to Podcast for RUclips because the volume will Say audio pause and the volume is so low you can't hear it and it wont turn up loud enough to hear
Never had this problem with Sweede. Just sayin'.
Maybe RFI, but it was always at the right volume.
LOL. Yeah Swede has a lot of other issues though.
What make and model of cellphone do you have ?
I just purchased a Samsung S22 Ultra and I'm having text issues in my Tundra. If the truck is running, I can't HEAR incoming texts. If the truck is off ( not running) it's fine.
I'm can only assume it's a safety thing on both manufacturers of the phone and truck.
"Don't Text And Drive"
Apple iPhone 11.
hello, I have a toyota tundra 2022 SR5 with the same problem, I would like to know how you solved this problem?
I absolutely hate that I have the same damn problem
I hate this. My biggest pet peeve on the truck. I can’t believe it’s still not fixed.
Pretty crappy deal. These systems have been available for years.
Did they even test this truck outside of perhaps pulling? They are like others, push to market and then fix....maybe. Depends if they can survive the warranty period and then pass the cost of fix on to consumers. I say this wondering what happens after warranty and if the consumer has the waste gate issue . Or do we treat this as something you dump before the warranty is up. I see that happening with hybrids and electric. Who will want to buy those used at the cost of replacing batteries. Consumers seem to still be willing to pay for poor tech. If consumers rejected paying for a new rig and kept what they had , then they may review the quality of workman ship yet again. Remember I said...MAY.
Don’t think I’ve ever needed to use that feature on any car or iPhone
I’d take an infotainment software glitch over “lifter” problems in the motor 🤔😏
And I would take lifter issue over Turbo or west gate issue 🧐🤨🤷🏻
Yea I’d take a diesel over both issues 🤣
Modern radio all have their own volume setting per audio source. Navigation will have its own volume and radio will have its own volume. When the navigation is playing, turn UP the volume. The radio volume will stay the same and the navi will get louder. You are actually turning down the audio of the navi. You can't adjust the radio volume when the source is navi. This is not the only radio system that does this. I've seen several others do it as well. They should let you set default volume levels for every source.
Bud this doesn’t solve or make it okay. This is crap. Going down the road if a text comes in the radio should pause while the text message plays. Period. And no the nab system doesn’t let you turn it up when it’s playing. Cause I’ve done that. Th e Nov is unresponsive. This needs to be fixed.
Can do it with the control on the steering wheel?
🏅Milo🔥🔥!!!……First!!!💯✊🏿🏁🏁
I would have been, was on a phone call🤬😅
Tim, did you try this experiment while your phone was wired vs wireless?? Apple Carplay does weird things if wired vs wireless.
Nope. I've only had the phone wired in once though. I always use it wireless.
@@Pickuptrucktalk got it. Cmon Toyota, you guys have had YEARS to perfect this! Maybe there will be an OTA update on the way...
I'm not having this issue but I'm using andriod auto. That would be pretty annoying
Not just android auto like I showed. It is the Toyota system as well.

Lots of phone calls and system resets.
@@Pickuptrucktalk Thank you for answering me, and since it settled in, it hasn't failed you again?

Very frustrating paid for something expensive has a issue love this truck looks beautiful but got ton of issues which not looking so good hate to say believe going be lots of used ones in the lot maybe 2023 be much better not so good for the 2022.
