- Relatively recently, multiple reports surfaced about Ridley Scott revealing his insights about the much-anticipated new movie in the Alien franchise.
Music: Atlantis by Audionautix • Atlantis - Audionautix
Fede Álvarez wrote and directed the movie, and out of respect for Ridley Scott's original vision for the franchise, he showed the completed version of the film to Scott for approval.
In a series of discussions, Scott revealed some aspects of the plot and provided his perspective on the film’s direction. Many of us had been eagerly awaiting "Alien Awakening," which was expected to pick up David’s storyline. Contrary to these expectations, it has been announced that an entirely separate feature, titled "Alien Romulus," is set to emerge as the next chapter in the alien franchise. The production of "Alien Romulus" is not only underway but has been completed, despite almost no information about this movie.
For some reason everything about this new Alien installment has been kept in secret. However recently Ridley Scott shared his thoughts on the film. But before diving into that what Ridley said, here's some general context about "Alien Romulus" and everything we know so far about the movie including these major aspects:
Today, we'll cover everything we know so far about the upcoming movie. We'll look at:
• The Release Date
• The Cast
• The Trailer Release Date
• The Plot and The Timeline
• The Role of Engineers
• Ridley Scott's Comments
• Lastly, the Analysis and Predictions of What to Expect.
The movie is set to be released on August 16, 2024, and it received a stamp of approval from Ridley who said that “it’s fu…ing great” in addition to few other things.
One notable detail about Alien Romulus is the young cast, which is unrelated to any characters from previous films in the Alien franchise. Also Sigourney Weaver won’t be returning as Ellen Ripley and she said that “the ship has sailed” on one interview when discussing the possibility of reappearing in another alien film. It is a bit disappointing that Ripley won’t be part of the frachise, on the other hand by having a completely new, young cast the studio might be planning to release multiple movies in the future keeping the same characters.
Scott saying that "It's f*cking great!" means absolutely nothing. If anything, it's even more concerning.
he's probably hedging his bets... if the movie turns out to be good, then i'm sure that Scott will try to take credit for it! XD
Pretty sure he said that about Nepolion 😅
Should title the movie ALIEN: WOKE NATION
@Billbeaux I think you might be right.. he never says something like that... it's like he's trying to inflate a bad upcoming IPO.. 😑
Yea dude is hit or miss
I can still watch the first two over and over and never get bored.
Completely lost me at Disney. WOW, what a huge disastrous mistake
It'll still be 20th Century Fox. Disney owns it now, though.

I was very worried about David's story not being continued and Disney's involvement in the movie. Now it has reduced all my expectations to almost zero. EDIT: I take back what i said. I really liked the movie. No sjw, no woke. You must definitely watch it."
They should've made "Alien: Awakening" to finish the prequel trilogy. Prometheus and Covenant were GREAT movies. Screw the ignorant haters. David and the engineers were fantastic concepts.
Prometheus is a terrible movie..... Covenant is a dreadful movie. I like David but everything else around those films are awful. The character decisions are there to solely push the movie along no matter how absurd they are and there are many many absurd character decision in these movies!@@darkseid6898
Exactly.
I was hoping the same thing ,but as always they think they know what we want to see,I certainly won't be going to see it ,id rather wait til comes out,now if they did follow up with David id be the first one at theater
It's an utter shame given the prequels efforts to expand the universe and not just do... more xenomorphs, more everyday space workers and marines.
I am always so pissed they didn't follow Prometheus...it was so fresh, so surprising, so many new questions came from it...
Then Covenant, because "fans were upset there were no aliens on Prometheus"....so stupid! I love Alien! That's why I loved Prometheus! Scott was going for something unique, fresh, he was trying something! Was forced to put the Alien back in his story and everything went to garbage! And now, I might never see an end to that story!
If people wanted to see the Alien again, just go watch the previous movies, or play a game or whatever! Or just wait for when the time is right! Don't push it!
There was no "alien" written in the tittle "Prometheus"!
Sorry, but I just get pissed at this missed opportunity for a great story.
I agree. I was reinvested after Prometheus and wanted to learn more about the engineers and their home world. Covenant was a big let down. And now im sure we will never see any more of the lore.
Prometheus and Covenant were both great! just watched them back to back, so idk wth you're talking about. the end of Prometheus introduces a Powerhouse of a xenomorph. was looking forward to the next in that series were there was a possibility of the engineer xenomorph and the "human" xenomorph having an encounter.
I feel you on that sentiment. Although I would remain optimistic in that Ridley Scott has essentially laid the groundwork for any future Alien movies that will delve further into the Prometheus premise. He still seems invested in the franchise overall and it will only be a matter of time before this new director or another ambitious director/writer decides to take on what Scott has laid out for them to expand on. He has such a devoted following of talented writers and directors that I'm sure at some point it will happen. and in the not too distant future.
I just re-watched Prometheus on Netflix. All i have to say 'i love rocks'! That line destroyed the movie!
Prometheus is a BEUTUFL and absolute MESS, with more holes then a block of Swiss cheese. Covenant is Alien copy/paste with a mish-mash of David's BS and full of contradictions and undermines the original two Alien films.
I was getting excited until I heard Disney is involved in the movie. Damm!
Yes, my heart sank when I heard that word.
Yes, my heart sank when I heard that word.
Yep should've let adult swim take over

Well Disney is at least woke, unlike many other companies, their contribution is literally saving this world from ignorance and evil that comes out of it! Whatever they bring in comes from a higher dimension of consciousness which triggers narcissists and psychopaths of this world.
Finish davids story ffs 😑
Very sad that David's story isn't being continued. I was so fascinated by it.
I was fascinated by Prometheus despite the terrible script, but Covenant ruined it for me... just seemed like a generic fanmade movie. I was also unhappy with the idea that David created the aliens in a random cave in five minutes.... seemed silly and lazy. In a way, it was always more scary that the Alien was the product of millions of years of evolution.
A great film would have been a middle film with David and Shaw by themselves travelling on a ship. Ironically the story that never made the film would have been infinitely better.... moving away from the alien slasher in space.
The studio gave him too many notes. I believe he even said "you want Aliens? I'll give you f'ing Aliens...!" In disgust...
@@desoliver9712
@@desoliver9712 The story is easily shifted to, the engineers knew how to create the eggs, and David happened upon the information.

Yeah me too. (Unfortunately)
I’ve been really bummed for a while that Ridley isn’t finishing the prequel trilogy.
He might not have a choice. The sheer magnitude of how much was cut from the script of prometheus implies that some one, or maybe a group of people, sabotaged the film / canceled it. So the ultra-dumbed down version was stitched together and released.
The engineers and David was such a great storyline.
Fuck.
I’m sad Ridley is ok letting them go.
I'm really actually quite upset... :/
It is what it is 🤷♂️ tying that up via a graphic novel, or animated like Marvel’s What If series At this point, is as good as it will get.
Great storyline? To me they were some of the worst of the alien franchise , Prometius was so-so , Covenant was a bad film . And David is worse protagonist than Shaw was , and Shaw was median.
Prometheus - a bunch of scientist idiots doing exploring stuff but the wrong way.
Coevenant - a bunch of colonist idiots doing colonization stuff but the wrong way.
The story and dialogues are complete flat and stupid. In both movies.
@@DrPet80 so a film about geniuses doing everything right with no drama would be great?
I’m really upset about David’s story not being continued mostly because Fassbender playing David is one of his best roles. He brings a terrifying presence, even if the writing of the films isn’t a good match for his skill.
I really like him in this genre/universe.
Really hate that they aren’t doubling down and finishing the trilogy. All they needed to do was just make the writing better. Not scrap the project entirely

It was story breaking. Really bad. Ridley got obsessed and nobody could tell him to stop.
It's also very sad to realize that we will probably never get any answers about the derelict in the first movie and how/why the f*** the Nostromo was sent to LV4-26 in the first place. What's the story behind that?? We were so close to coming full circle, it's so frustrating...
Embrace the mystery. It's one of the things that makes Alien great to begin with.
@@joachimvandenheuvel507 No! All questions must be answered! Prequels! We must have more prequels!
I think the nostromo went to lv426 because they picked up on some sort of signal while returning home from a job they were in the process of completing. I can't remember if it was a distress signal or otherwise, but I do remember their hand was forced, and that they would get in big trouble, and/or lose their pay if they didn't respond/investigate.
@@gilbertsanchez5116 😑
We knew exactly why Nostromo was redirected to LV 426. It was to recover a life form. And the crew was expendable. That was iterated quite succinctly by ash before he puked up milky lubricant, after attempting to rape Ripley with a magazine. And also when the captain was in the special room with Mothers a computer. I think he sees that it says cruise it is expendable or was it Ripley who sees crew is expendable. Oh that’s why Ash raped her. She was in there getting the information. Then she got mad went after Ash, and then he went bonkers. I think. No matter it was covered in the film why they were redirected to LV 426 and that the crew was expendable and ash was to recover the life form. And the company had an idea that Ash could survive better than the human beings, because he was a machine.
Kroft you gonna talk about the new trailer?! Looking forward
If Romulus is good then that's good, but I will always mourn the discontinuation of the David/engineer storyline. It was one of the most interesting things I've seen in film.

God i wish they had continued the engineer/paradise plotline and having gone full giger designs for their culture. Would have been awesome as Prometheus was the most interesting movie in the alien franchise(just like the first alien was). Instead we get this "young cast" thing from disney that i do not trust.

@@darkseid6898 I agree though I don't like that they killed off shaw in covenant. The whole sub-plot of religeous belief was lost with her death. And besides she was the charactert that was the viewer (sort of). I do still like the movie but I feel it was a sidestep rather than going further with the story. A better step imo would have been for the second moive to focus on shaw and david going to the engineer's homeworld and the the third movie the engineers enacting the destruction of earth the black goo or something like that. Something more interesting. Idk Prometheus was such a fun idea and it's so frustrating that they have abandoned it. It kinda had that The Thing feeling. An underrated masterpiece imo.
Let me guess a group of people come across a distress beacon and investigate to find a hostile alien lifeform which decimates the crew 🙄
One word scares me more than Aliens did when I watched it as a kid: Disney- Ruiner of Franchises. Aliens and Disney seem like a most contrasting mix; I have little hope. Maybe NECA will make a few new Alien action figures after the movie, that's about all the hope I have for a Disney led Aliens. Sad. Agree with Kroft, at this point and despite the issues with the last two 'aliens' movies, I'd rather see the conclusion of Davids story and more about the Engineers. Sigh.

Why are you happy that the guy that fucked up last movie likes this new one under Disney???
Scott was out declaring he wouldn't be making any more films in the Alien franchise - thus also abandoning the prequel trilogy - after the reception of Covenant saw the intenet community of 'fans' abusing him for ruining the (their) storyline.
This would seem to be final affirmation of that. I hope not, though. There are still so much unanswered between the end of Covenant and the start of Alien.. I guess I'll be in theaters right along everybody else when "Romulus" comes out.
What kind of an Alien is it? When an Android made it. That story line needed to be buried and gone. Riddley lost his mind just like Lucas. Foolish stuff really. yes it's over for alien fans
What worries me more than the words "disney involvement" is that 90% of the negative comments will still watch it. That will give it air time, viewer numbers and then get it renewed again and again. Negative reviews don't mean dirt so long as viewings are high enough to provide revenue, like rings of power, almost universally hated, but getting a second season. Just don't look at it and it will go away.
Doubt it honestly. Disney has billions. All their movies are losing money. We just have to hope they go bankrupt and sell off all their assets.
I don't care! I want Awakening. The story of David has to come full circle!
Knowing Disney is involved is a mayor red flag. Almost every fan wanted to see both Shaw and David’s arc finalized. We don’t get any of those but instead a movie nobody asked for. Just like the marvel’s.
If Disney is making it I’m skipping it
Disney is funding it, not making it. It's made by what sounds like a talented independent filmmaker.
@SewTubular Disney doesn't give money to independent filmmakers. They give money to puppets.
Disney's involved. My most beloved franchise is going to the shits then. Nice work. Additionally mentioned, I find it extremely disappointing that they do not conclude the Prometheus/Covenant/David story. I might be one of a few, but I actually love Prometheus. Covenant is a mixed bag. Because I believe Ridley should have kept on doing his original thing with Covenant and not giving in to the idiots who just wanted to see a frickin xenomorph. I would have loved it to see more of Elizabeth Shaw.
I feel you. I really liked Prometheous. Covenant ....ahh....so so. Covenant kinda went off in a direction I didn't expect. But yes I would like to see David's story wrapped up
It’s a long shot but god I wish I could see what David did with the colonist ship. But maybe it’s better to be left up to imagination. If David was able to do so much research with just one human body, I can only imagine the horror he would get up to with a fully equipped med bay with thousand of specimens of different ages and species
He turned them all into gay robots….just like him😂😂😂
They should've made "Alien: Awakening" to finish the prequel trilogy. Prometheus and Covenant were GREAT movies. Screw the ignorant haters. David and the engineers were fantastic concepts.
If the Prometheus comic wasn't canon, imagine if Weyland Yutani ever found another Engineer world or went back to the LV-223 from Prometheus and found another ship or two... and took it all for research. Imagine what they'd do with a bunch of colonists or prisoners.
@@user-zj3xl4nk1gWhat ?
It's probably better left to the imagination tbh. The arc for the character is completed - he has become God over the trapped colonists and can create. Its a grim ending but it suits the character.
I think one of the worst tendencies of recent movies has been to try illuminate minor parts of background, or continue on past a stories natural end. The SW franchise wasn't really improved by the Han Solo origins movie for example. Sometimes its better to start a new story than try drag out an old one.
Franchises only let the original movies down the further they go. First Alien movie is a masterpiece, it's all I need, that's for sure.
If Disney is involved it’s going to be a dumpster fire of wokeness and DEI. I’m not holding my breath.
Yeah, the lead character might be one of them strong female types. And they might pander by having a mixed race crew. Oh, and they might force an anti-corporate message on it. I hope they respect the original and don't do anything like that!

I just thought of something, since it's a Disney production will we get lesbian Xenomorphs?
Disney: °Put an alien in and make it lame and gay."
I'm keeping my expectations low because I don't want to be disappointed. The problem is, as an avid Alien fan from the first movie and not being alone in that(?), they will almost certainly get me to part with my money whatever the critics might say.

Of the 3 Alien films in production 3 years ago, I was most excited by this new film. You nailed it on the head about Disney as producer. My excitation went down learning this but I will be cautiously optimistic as well. Agreed, Disney is a big question mark.
Just the fact that Disney’s involved… Imagine how horrible a studio/company’s been run lately that just having their name attached is an automatic huge negative. Hopefully the film was written without their story group bullshit comprised of talentless DEI/ESG box-tick hires. But I’m not going to get my hopes up. Never seen a company so Hell bent on burning cash.
They will not finish David’s story, just like they won’t finish the Engineer’s story. Prometheus was a fantastic new direction. Then, he diverged. Sad. That being said Covenant was done well. I was so looking forward to another to tie those two together and finish the story.

Remember what Spielberg said of James Mangold right after previewing The Dial of Destiny last year? “Damn! I thought I was the only one who knew how to make one of these!” Turns out that - that stamp of approval didn’t mean Jack. Also, this is Disney we’re talking about. They’re exceptionally gifted at destroying reboots. I hope they don’t, but the data doesn’t lie.
Should continue David's storyline no matter how bad it is reviewed with previous 2 prequels, just want to know David's evil achievement. I hate cliffhangers😂.
They wont have any engineers in this new film unfortunately. Real fans are waiting for the sequel to Covenant. We've seen this horror hack and slash Alien film already... Thanks Disney
It's Disney and Kathaleen guys, they'll destroy it. Riply said 'that ship has sailed.' She just told you it's stupid. She's not as hungry for a role as Mark.
The ship sailed when Alien3 was released without continuing Ripley's, Newt's, and Hick's story as originally envisioned. Then a muddled story comes along with Prometheus that can't continue David & Shaw's story as originally intended, resulting in Covenent. It's like when Disney killed The Star Wars EU - yet is now repurposing parts of SW EU non-canon (i.e. Thrawn) lore to shore up their Disney Wars lineup of failure.
It doesn't matter who directs, writes, stars in or produces this film; if Disney don't like it, they'll re-write and re-shoot it until it ticks whatever boxes they want.
Everything was pretty exciting until I hear that it will be produced by Disney; anxiety set in!
I hope it completely diverges from all the films starting with Alien 3. Specially the entire Engineers part. I always thought the ship and the space jockey were one entity. That was the brilliance of the first film and that crazy designer.
nah
Thank you for making these videos!😄 you keep the ALIENS dream alive my friend
Nice vid Kroft. Most likely, when Ridley Scott said its f***ing great, he really meant, "phew, it doesn't have anything to do with my vision of alien"... Disney surely will focus on making it something different for the kids, aiming for as much commercial success as they can
Dear new Alien movie, please be better than Napoleon. 😢
These new alien prequels had so much potential and it was really wasted, it wouldve been cool if engineers created the alien to destroy planets and the Predators were the only species able to defeat them and that made engineers and Predators mortal enemies.
When the world needed him most. He returned. I'm talking about Krof and Ridley Scott
Having grown up with the Alien franchise, I’ve been so excited about this film right up to the moment it’s revealed that Disney will be making it.
Can't wait to see all the modern woke politics in an alien movie. Hope to see an androgynous elite squad of blind Eskimo's taking on the Aliens.
Oh boy, can't wait for girl bosses teaming up with xenomorphs to fight xenophobic white males!!!
I’d watch that!
Cautiously Optimistic. Could not have said it better. I'll wish upon a star.
Personally, I liked everything that Ridley did with the prequels. You know why be so critical!? I think Ridley said it perfectly! He said that the Monster has worn out.... I really liked prometheus and I really liked Covenant. There is no way that you can recreate the origeneral. I think that Ridley should make them less expensive and just pump them out. For us. Die hard fans that i'm not so critical
Didn't u think the cast in covenant was a total downgrade? 1 known good actor in the crew and they kill him min 1. Except fassbender but he was in the last movie too so..
And they act like total m0r0ns... a robot that is known to be dangerous.. and they just accept whatever he says.. even when they are warned about mental effects of 10 yr isolation.
Why did they not just shoot the fuck out of him when safe and then make their robot access his memory to get the truth. An insane robot is clearly a safety risk.
And when the captain didn't shoot him on the spot when he caught him kissing a monster and David was super upset while he cared fuq all about the person the monster had killed.
Instead he takes a sight seeing tour... and goes down in a dark smelly cave with 0 backup and just takes David's word for it that "its nothing dangerous.. and even has a grin while saying it.."
Such stupidity from a captain of a starship is beyond belief.. a monster with acid for blood.. ok.. I can get behind that.. but this is too much.
The crew all acted like they were just thrown into their roles and they had zero research into how persons in such a role would act to make it believable.
And Texas putting the ship at risk to get contact.. when they have 6000 ppl onboard... for 10 ppl.. they are 100% expendable if they can't make it up.
Since he could take the lander down.. why didn't he just fly that a bit closer to get contact instead of risking the starship.. who knows?
And the crew being couples.. would never happen... bcoz of this exact reason. Ppl will risk life of others to save their partner.
And then shooting like a liberal that never touched a gun in a room where they store explosives... they give guns to every member but never trained to use them?
And then u have her locking her crewmember in with the alien.. bcoz infection risk.. even though she herself is covered in blood and she is freaking out like a teenager... did they do any psych screens on the crew? If u act in total panic in stressful and unexpected situations.. u ain't the person for the job. It's like if an airline pilot gets a dual engine failure and instead of acting they just say it's not happening and goes to the toilet for a cry.
It's a sci-fi so u expect science to not be realistic.. but if it's a starship or a battleship, ppl still need professional behavior, know their job and not act like a mental case at first sign of trouble.
Covenant could have been good if they had a total different crew, kept Naomi alive on paradise as David's prisoner.. to give dna fir experiments. And bcoz he loves her.. she is a secret until the crew finds her and she tells them the truth of David.
Also they should have given 5-10 min screen time to show us paradise ppl lives and their relationship with engineers in ships.. could be explained when they saw ship arrive. The biggest fault of promethous was not explaining ANYTHING about lv233(?), having such a short interaction with the engineer.
They could have kept it longer... not having weyland at site when they wake him.. he talks with shaw n David.. he explains what happened here.. why they were going back to earth to destroy it etc etc.. Shaw maybe even convince him that humanity has changed.
Then David wakes weyland and he understands that humans are still the same.. cruel, egocentric, etc.. so he decides to continue his mission.. fighting happens to stop him etc etc action etc... something like that.
It would explain more.. not leaving ppl wanting for answers. That didn't get answered one bit in cov.
