I just started playing and I’m using this to frantically find cover for the rain lol. My favorite thing about this is that you get so much adrenaline from the beasts when they chase you, I’ve hidden in tunnels to get away from the mosquito monsters when they tried to find me. It’s also the doom that you feel when you hear the rain coming and just *know* you won’t make it back to a safe spot. But if you do, then you have this kind of anxious laughter of relief, only to think “where do I go now? What do I do?” It really portrays a sense of survival and that terror of realizing you won’t survive if you don’t move quickly. Gets you thinking like an animal.
Totally agree. I'm not sure I know of another game that really makes you feel like the character; a small creature lost in a harsh environment. You really are forced to adapt and get comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. Hard to find games like this one.

Good to know it's not just me who thinks Sky Islands is way too hard in terms of difficulty spike. It's the longest part of the video. I whined nonstop going thru that area that I died more in just Sky Islands than the entire rest of my playthrough. Devs should seriously fix that area.
The RNG is so brutal. I've had runs that go through no problem just because the lizards aren't in the way. Also tons of places you can fall with the slightest input error. I'm much better at it now, but still struggle with this area more than others.
i died the most in five pebbles than sky islands, and that was only because by the time i got there, i learned how to kill the lizards and vultures and steal advanced tools from scavengers
The gravity drive section of Five Pebbles is breaking me. I've done it thirty times or more and I just can't get through it. I think I've hit my skill ceiling or something.
If you're playing on survivor, there's a couple different ways you can go. I'd recommend trying to go back the other way if you are getting stuck. Going through the Unfortunate Development can be pretty quick, but also dangerous. Don't give up! If you made it that far, you can make it to the end.
i love how the most replayed part of the video is getting from industrial to outskirts, everyone be struggling on that part ig. (feels good not to be alone in my suffering :) )

That's one of the coolest parts! I've gotten out of some really bad situations because some other creature starts fighting over who gets to eat the Slugcat lol. You can just escape while they fight each other! You can also just wait and see where the lizard takes you. Another way to explore parts of the map you haven't seen yet!. One of my few complaints about the game is that it is very hard to tell if you are actually dead, or just playing dead and being carried. Of course you can tell by seeing Slugcat's eyes either showing (>.
@@longplaytv4402 That's so cool. Good to know. It makes me want to let me catch by them to "express exploration" or just to see how I'm gonna get off of its jaws. In fact I'm going to get down to work lol
This game really triggers flight or fight responses, how good you are at parkour, what your survival instinct is like, and stealth ability. The challenge really begins at the Exterior. That’s when everything you learned comes into play. Good luck fellow Slugcats!
Well, after your second den, our playthroughs were completely different. It's funny how diverse our journeys were. I never knew over half the dens you used.
I learned about this game through C.A I have not (And likely never will) played this game. But this game feels so lifelike. It pulls you into a alternate version of what life could have been. Well done.
Honest question, what is supposed to be represented in the ending? The creature, main protagonist, died and rejoined with other creatures' souls in a creatures' heaven by any chance?
@@brunesis a long time fan of the game since its release, ive recently just played through the game again and all of its DLC. MAJOR SPOILERS The ending is meant to represent the slugcats life (lives?) coming to an end. In Rain World, every creature is in an endless cycle of being reborn for eternity. A lot of the less sentient creatures have very little awareness of this, and many do not care. Some of the more intelligent like the ancient civilization that existed a very, very long time before the events of the game, as well as the Slugcats and scavengers (the monkey like animal), are more aware of this. They can somewhat remember their past lives, and all of their past suffering. From what I can tell, with time the ability to remember this may become more clear, and they become more and more aware of their own endless suffering. Eventually, creatures like our slugcat become desperate to leave it all behind. Creatures that have no ego and no desires left to chain them to the world will ascend once they come into contact with the void, and they will finally TRULY die, in the same sense that many Hindus believe we are all being reincarnated, and letting go of ego is the only way to stop this. Creatures and people with strong egos cannot fully ascend - they become echos, the giant writhing creatures you see, that appear to bend reality to some extent. These echos are stuck in a position where they are tortured for eternity, they are somewhere inbetween life and death, this world and the next and can never ascend. And when I say eternity, i really do mean eternity. They also cannot interact with the world, but can be seen by creatures with high karma, onto whom they can enlighten in a sense. In the case of our slugcat, they successfully and truly ascend. When they ascend, all of their past incarnations also truly get to die, and are present with them in the void sea. These are who I believe are in the tree in the void. After that our slugcat has left the world truly, finally being able to rest, before the game ends, and we again see the rain, a reminder that although our slugcat was lucky, life will continue for eternity. Rain World takes massive inspiration from Hinduism. Rain in Hinduism can represent renewal and rebirth, the endless rain in rain world can be seen as representing the endless rebirth of life. This game is extremely poetic when you look into it, it says so much with few lines of dialogue. It is by a pretty wide margin my favourite game of all time. This is all I could go over now, but I could gush over it for hours… As the original comment says, it is almost a video game equivalent to Interstellar. Its so beautifully crafted and takes advantage of video games as a medium so well… most of what I love about the game I cannot describe, it is the actual gameplay and how it feels to play it that is the best part. Like interstellar, the experience will stick with you for a very long time.
@@21Shellsi think the other slugcats at the tree are supposed to be other scugs that have ascended aswell? in monks ending we see that survivor and monk are reunited.
Spoilers for those who don't know My theory: You actually died from drowning at 1:29 and are stuck in a purgatory after that.. it would explain why you see so many bizarre things and why you don't see any of your species because it's only you in this purgatory. You are able to "die" and come back and avoid the dangers you faced in your last life because you can't fully die until you ascend into the afterlife. It's also shown in the intro that the rain wouldn't actually kill you from how hard it falls but in the purgatory it does because water is how you died. You go through all these tests to finally ascend and get to join and rest with your ancestors..
SPOILRR ALERT: Actually this theory is pretty good but proven FALSE, because in the Downpour, -You could revisit the place of the intro of your survivor/monk campaign. You can go the place where your family was, the journeys end, and also have an easter egg where you can revisit your *trauma* and go from a specific place to Outskirts. THE INTRO MUSIC also plays during it.
For the people who say the game isn't rewarding... it is. It is when you notice it and nice when you get the best of it. We need more games that are expecting you to understand everything. You're new to this game, deal with it! The ending isn't the only reward but it surely is the best ending I've ever seen! Lets you with mixed feelings but the show is something you'll never experience twice. The game isn't that hard all the time. The randomness of the game makes the painfull experience die when you're lucky enough. Try it. End it and when you finish the game you'll have tears. That's one of the rewards but it's normal.
Anyone that decided to Play it for yourself, if you find yourself in a flooded tunnel with small pockets of air in roof and lots of bubble foods, do not go straight all the way, you'll find yourself in a dead end Update: i finished the game, can't describe the ending

Glad I’m not the only one who was bad at this area lol. Took me an hour and a half to get through it myself
I used the flying bug to sweep fast to farm arrays entry. I didn't even liked exploring the sky islands. But in RNG I found subterranean more brutal.
i died the most in five pebbles than sky islands, and that was only because by the time i got there, i learned how to kill the lizards and vultures and steal advanced tools from scavengers
@@longplaytv4402 I'm too stubborn to actually quit. I'll get through it eventually. Thanks for the advice.
i love how the most replayed part of the video is getting from industrial to outskirts, everyone be struggling on that part ig. (feels good not to be alone in my suffering :) )
It's so unclear what you're supposed to do
20:40 Absolute Horror
fue como entrar a la sala de un jefe para el cual no estabas preparado
15:50 so... IT IS POSSIBLE TO GETAWAY FROM LIZARDS ONCE THEY CATCH YOU???? Or what...
Do you know how many times I've ended up between its jaws thinking that I'm done?...
This game is too much.
Bro I thought this walkthrough was really interesting and it doesn't disappoint me.
Cheers
1:24:22 It was at this moment that he knew, he ******** up.
What an acid trip that was
bought the downpour thinking it would let me be the characters the minute i bought it
i needed this
This game really triggers flight or fight responses, how good you are at parkour, what your survival instinct is like, and stealth ability. The challenge really begins at the Exterior. That’s when everything you learned comes into play.
Good luck fellow Slugcats!
Well, after your second den, our playthroughs were completely different. It's funny how diverse our journeys were. I never knew over half the dens you used.
Thanks for helping me out:) memory crypts was my enemy
Memory Crypts is awful, totally agree!
Rain World is so fucking beautiful
9:51 I didn't know it was supposed to open. So I spent 3 hours in the outskirts roaming for nothing
Same
@@cayo_tayo2532 it doesnt let me do that and my thing at the bottom left flashes red
@@ziggmeisterr your karma level is too low
It will open if your karma is high enough
@@cayo_tayo2532 ye i just did it
@@cayo_tayo2532 So cool how the game gives you no way to check what karma level you're at until you either get there or die
I learned about this game through C.A
I have not (And likely never will) played this game.
But this game feels so lifelike. It pulls you into a alternate version of what life could have been.
Well done.
Best ending in any SCI-FI EVER!!!! WOW!! Felt like I was watching Interstellar
Honest question, what is supposed to be represented in the ending? The creature, main protagonist, died and rejoined with other creatures' souls in a creatures' heaven by any chance?
@@brunesis a long time fan of the game since its release, ive recently just played through the game again and all of its DLC.
MAJOR SPOILERS
The ending is meant to represent the slugcats life (lives?) coming to an end.
This is all I could go over now, but I could gush over it for hours…
As the original comment says, it is almost a video game equivalent to Interstellar. Its so beautifully crafted and takes advantage of video games as a medium so well… most of what I love about the game I cannot describe, it is the actual gameplay and how it feels to play it that is the best part. Like interstellar, the experience will stick with you for a very long time.
@@21ShellsYour comment is so underrated...
@@21Shellsi think the other slugcats at the tree are supposed to be other scugs that have ascended aswell? in monks ending we see that survivor and monk are reunited.
^ but again i think it’s like a “your wishes come true” type of situation with the void.
I just got devoured by a lizard GHOST which appeared out of nowhere, all karma is gone, not sure whether to hate or love this game haha.
Spoilers for those who don't know
My theory: You actually died from drowning at 1:29 and are stuck in a purgatory after that.. it would explain why you see so many bizarre things and why you don't see any of your species because it's only you in this purgatory.
Good theory but that's not true
You can check videos explaining the lore
The dlc of rainworld downpour adds even more to the lore
SPOILRR ALERT: Actually this theory is pretty good but proven FALSE, because in the Downpour,
-You could revisit the place of the intro of your survivor/monk campaign. You can go the place where your family was, the journeys end, and also have an easter egg where you can revisit your *trauma* and go from a specific place to Outskirts. THE INTRO MUSIC also plays during it.
funny how hald of farm arrays is just escaping from the giant mosquito
Wow, that was queit the experience, thanks for playing
11:15 immediate nope
nah an immediate SNACK
For the people who say the game isn't rewarding... it is. It is when you notice it and nice when you get the best of it. We need more games that are expecting you to understand everything. You're new to this game, deal with it!
The ending isn't the only reward but it surely is the best ending I've ever seen!
Lets you with mixed feelings but the show is something you'll never experience twice.
The game isn't that hard all the time. The randomness of the game makes the painfull experience die when you're lucky enough.
Try it. End it and when you finish the game you'll have tears. That's one of the rewards but it's normal.
i love how the thing just frantically smashes its food into its head
I practically use this video to beat the game I was struggling on mosquitos
i'm really happy to see someone struggling like me to kill the ennemies in this game, thank you so much for this video
Anyone that decided to Play it for yourself, if you find yourself in a flooded tunnel with small pockets of air in roof and lots of bubble foods, do not go straight all the way, you'll find yourself in a dead end
Update: i finished the game, can't describe the ending
Este es unos de los juegos de plataformas que mas interes le tengo
Es increíble como esta hecho el comportamiento de los enemigos y la ambientación :3
thanks for making this video i keep accidentally back tracking to older regions
This intro is so cute but so sad at the same time. 0:33
Edit: it actually made me cry a bit lol
I love the sounds 🙂
Dropwigs are fucking terrifying holy- but this was very helpful!
Always the worst jump scare in the game lol
@@longplaytv4402 Omg tell me about it :’)
bro honestly this is such a great way to experience the game. I've got no time in my life to play this game for 20+ hours, but six hours?? easily i can spend watching over the course of a month. it feels like I'm watching a living creature go about this beautifully deadly world. (i also hate seeing the little fella die when i tried to play it)
I remember watching this months ago when I first started, now I’ve finished all campaigns and I need 1 more achievement to 100% the game.
2:08:40 that music is chilling...
one of the things thats amazing about this game is that the areas are non linear, i went straight from shoreline to subterranean... how
I got lost early when I was playing and went that way pretty early. I thought I was being clever and escaping some trouble... not so much lol.
dude same when subterranean came later right before the ending i was quite shocked to see it repeating, luckily it didn't do any harm
I WANNA PLAY THIS SO BAD
Edit: I have the game and have started playing (April 15, 2023)
the leg is a fucking nightmare
My friend recommended me this game so I’m gonna watch this play through, he gave the links so wish me luck!! I’m kinda excited to see what this game is like lol
The game with the best Ai in the gaming history so far.
It's true. The AI of this game was actually really advanced and is said to be impossible to compare to.
I'm curious how complex the ai in this game?
@@silent0089 oohh its complex, I mean its COMPLEXXX
I honestly don't know if this game is for me. I really like the atmosphere and maybe harassing lizards, but I can't really find the motivation to keep going forward. Only played this game for 2 hours lol, so I only have shallow experience of the game.
Edit: Nevermind, I've been liking it more when it got more challenging.
amazing the animation pretty smooth
Great vid 👍
i never though i would had to see this just to know where to go
So true xDDD
When the green lizard captured slugcat and started throwing it's corpse around
💀💀
this game would have been refunded if it wasn't for you, you're a legend.
lol, I can totally understand why, and glad you stuck with it. Thanks!
Rain world makes me sad everytime I see that Lil slung cat 😭
This is actually such good asmr
I don’t know why but I think watching the green thing maul your corpse is so funny
It's a green lizard or lizor :]
When I decided to watch this video about this game, to see what it was about my mind was like (from the begining): oh yeah cute lil' bug and it's adventures.
My mind in the ending: :0000000
Also while I’m not very far in I LOVE the music and sound design!!!!
Yep!
i like how this isnt just gameplay by some random npc, there are some funny moments, fails, anger .... lol
20:44 was ][ this close
This is great!
When you notice that this game is about trying to die
Not neccesarily :]
The whole atmosphere of the game makes it seem like a post apocalyptic world (even though it basically is)
i just started but this helped me get through places I was stuck at.
And that's how babies are born.
(guy commenting on a 5h long video) damn i'd love to play this game if i was sure i wasn't going to start sobbing incontrollably every time the intro plays out 1:59 .
It's like oddworld without chanting and talking
3:02:59 when that music kicks in
I accidentally killed the yellow tutorial bug thing and idk if he's important later but I feel bad
He respawns :]
real masterpiece
Okay so totally didn't see five pebbles the correct way... I must of went in backwards some how what the fuck.
3:26:54 You spin me right 'round, baby
Right 'round like a record, baby
I wanna see this now but I don’t rly have time so I’m scrolling through a lot of the video and my god does that make the change of environment.. sudden? harsh? my vocab sucks you know what I mean. But it’s like wow, it’s a very beautiful-looking game and I hear the AI is amazing and what is going on in this computer-y looking area I am so intimidated
3:40:28 the pure chaos made me laugh so much
Uhh hey I um went from industrial complex to chimney canopy so um is that like a speedrun thing or just a different route?
That's a different route, and harder imo. I think I've seen 100% speedruns go that route. I went that way on my first playthrough and turned around cause I got a bit stuck.
I managed to throw bomb plants and a spear at the vulture and took possession of its skull which apparently reduces the agro a lot
It’s an easier way to make lizards scared of you. It just won’t work on lizards that were subject to it for minutes in the same room
Just a tip but not all creatures are bad even you can make some of them help you😊 some of them will attack you even if you help them but you should be nice with some of them it is rewarding😊 and i dont understand why this game is not more populare the Fauna is so alive and feels real and the creatures and the interaction with them feels impredictible and unexpected and AMAZING Thanks for bring us this Expectacular Game but of course THIS NEED ACTION BABYYYYYY
This is one of those games that I desperately want to like but I can’t bring myself to
Is it because you repeatedly stumble into actual dead-ends and dont know where to go because you are playig actually blind? Dont worry, 90% of people recommending playing this game blind, just lied and actually looked stuff up during their first run. Awful community defending a truly awful and broken aspect of an otherwise amazing game.
@@pawlogatesthe community isn’t that bad. Just go in blind, or not, you do you, and figure out what your plan is. Mine, originally was explore and hibernate. I just finished 5P’s quest. And he murdered me.
(FOR CLARIFICATION)
Five Pebbles does NOT murder you unless you stay inside of his can. That’s what I did and he got really mad. I just wanted to see what he’d do if I stayed.
