I went from a Specialized hardtail 26er to the very same Capra Pro 29er and it took me a little while to get used to the larger wheels and frame. I've been riding it regularly since August last year and I love it. I've pushed myself to do ride more extreme trails and I wouldn't go back!
The braking sound depends on brake pads. Sinther brake pads do this sound. Additionally the fork sound is most probably rebound. Try to set rebound completely off and it should disappear. Both cases are totally OK. Dont worry
Just ordered a Propain Spindrift 2021 to replace my old Specialized Enduro Expert from 2014. The current bike has 160/155mm of travel but really old geo. Has been looking on a lot of different options in my price bracket and finally settled for the Spindrift. It's likely I'm gonna be over gunned for a lot of the riding with 190/180mm of travel but the reviews says it's really pedal friendly and playful. At least there is no excuse to not bomb through the gnar...😆 It will be really interesting but hoping for a good initial feeling that will grow as I get to know the bike. Looking forward to may and the delivery...📅
It looks like you're already on a pretty short stem there man, maybe look at an offset headset. You can pull your reach in by about 5mm from what I've seen. I think one of the things with the 'bigger, longer, slacker' bikes is they just feel more stable so whilst you don't feel like you're going as fast you actually are going the roughly the same speed but with less concern. The main thing is that you feel comfortable on it and can enjoy riding dude!
Yeah, those thoughts about the stem were like 6 months ago, so I probably won't change it. Even though it would be really interesting to try and see how I experience it. And yeah, I am comfortable on the Capra Grande now, so I guess everything is fine :-)
Yup. I thought it was the tyres that made it feel slow. But after having switched to my regular Maxxis (DHF and Higroller II) I can't really say it rolled better. Taking the E13 tyres off they felt kinda heavy and really sturdy though.
Nice video. I have the same bike, but when I ride it slowly and pass through some obstacle and when the rear tire drop it feels very harsh and there is some knock in the rear. For example when your rear tire drop in a hole it feels very harsh and not plush. I tried to adjust the rebound and my SAG is 30%, rear tire pressure is 1.5 atm, but it is harsh again. How is your bike ?
Tack Dennis! I really enjoy your content and the perspective of a "normal rider". Allow me to throw in some answers to the issues you have with capra grande. Bar height: Your 29er headtube is 15mm shorter than your older 27.5 frame so you will struggle to lift the front end up, only way to fix it is by getting a higher rise bar. Shortening the stem would require you to consciously weigh the front a bit more which takes time to adapt to. Climbing with your bike is not great as the kinematics was designed so, it is a great descender hands down. Handlebar width: the overly wide bars cause more body position issues and limit your movement, 760 works great when you are using your hips and head to ride with and not your arms. Har det bra!!!
Yo, great to hear that you enjoy my content! And thanks for all the geometry insights. I did cut my bar down to 780, but I guess I won't do more chsnges than that. It seems other changes only leads to new problems 😂
I wonder whats your height, coz L size Capra has geo dimensions that are equivalent to M size of other companies. In many reviews i have seen that for 5'11 height it is recommended even XL size. L for more playful feel.
And then on the other side you read big magazines talking about real pro enduro racers using reaches comparably short as downhill bikes. Yes, we have a diversion here. And no one has ever bought up these two at the same time with any perspective. We do not only have polarization in politics, we have polarization in the mountain bike world. Mountain bike politics 🤣
I'm 181 cm/5'11 feet and I bought the Large. It's a big bike! At least to me owning my first 29:er. I've gotten used to the size, and never did get a shorter stem. But I do think that I might have liked the Medium more. But it's hard to say...
@@niklasdr Yeah who knows. But if I get YT:s thinking (and many other companies) the stand-over should be so low that you rather pick a bike with the reach you want, which might not be matching their size guides.
@@GravityEscapades Hey thx for the reply. I'm exactly you height - 181cm. And i though about buying an XL, from reading the online reviews. I have long limbs. So you think XL would be too much of a bike for our height?
The Capra you mean? Well in this video I actually rode my old 27.5 Capra Comp 😂 But Yeah I like my 29er, and it's fun to hop on the old playful 27.5 once in a while.
Nice video bro! I think it really depends from rider to rider when it comes to what their first impressions on 29" wheels are gonna be. I instantly fell in love with the bigger wheels, but that might just be because I'm tall. Anyways, I'm glad you and Grande came along well in the end!

Yeah I can imagine that the step from a 26:er HT was quite big! And nice! 😀

Ohh May, that's a loooong wait... Cool to get a new nice bike just when summer starts though!
Hello
Nice! Har beställt en YT Capra 3 som kommer i Maj 2022, längtar tills man kan köra lite Enduro 👌😁
Ouch, Maj 2022. Lång väntan. Men det blir ju grymt när den kommer!

Any feedback on the e13 tyres/tires ?! Heaviness? Slow?
Update: nvm I finished the video and heard what you said. Hmm 🤔

Yeah I've got a capra pro and the tyres do feel really heavy, are the maxiss tyres lighter?
I think so, but I guess a quick Google run could solve that question 😂
@@dennisliljedahl6743 isnt it the rim weight that makes a bigger difference?
Not sure. But I think weight is most important when accelerating? When you're up to speed tyre thread should be more important?

Hur kändes det att gå från 27,5 till 29"?
Funderar på 29" enduro här näst🤔
Som jag säger i videon, lite större och otympligare och rullar över grejer lite bättre. Men när man vant sig ingen större skillnad.
How does it climb?
Ok I guess. But I mean, it's made for the downs.
