Lemme just say this. You didn’t inflate the balloon enough, and it’s the wrong type of balloon. You’ve got to make it so the strings just barely miss the balloon, and I’d recommend thick rubber balloons.
No the other gentleman had blown up the balloon just a little bit bigger so when he popped it in the soundhole the balloon was touching the strings, but I would imagine you would have to get just the right amount of air in the balloon so skin would be bareilly touching the strings,to give it a slap snare like sound banjos are noted for,they are basically a tambourine with strings stretched across it, weird instrument indeed.
I love these irreverent-humour videos. As for the task at hand, I think maybe you needed to inflate the pink balloon a bit more, so that it covered more of the acoustic's sound hole. Then maybe it would work...

I think you should blow it up a *tiny* bit bigger, not by much but in the video it appears to be almost filling up the hole entirely and I think is just barely touching the strings
Do we know whether he was using a metal-string acoustic, or a nylon-string classical? Cause if he was using a classical instead of a standard acoustic, that might be what's making the difference.
If you would have blown the balloon up larger it would have plugged the port better without touching the strings. Your balloon looked undersized compared to the original.
