Happy birthday, Shinichi! That kaiseki looks amazing. I don't know that I could do the shirako either. I know Satoshi is sensitive about filming without having his hats on, but let him know that we love him with or without it.
The food really looked amazing! They always take so much pride at these Onsen when making the meals! I wish I could taste it! Happy birthday go Shinichi & thank you Satoshi for taking him there so we could experience it with you both! 👍❤❤❤

I’m speechless! I was in awe, with every single dish you boys had! I absolutely love Ryokan’s! Thank you brother, for taking the time to explain each dish. I especially appreciate that you explained why gohan is served at the end of kaiseki ryori, because, here in America, the miso soup and gohan are always served first. My local Japanese market sells those individual white table top grills. I never paid much attention to them. I certainly will now! How fun would it be, to serve my boys dinner, and have them grill their own meat, kaiseki/ryokan style......

Hello Shinichi and Satoshi! It is so kind of you to share this video from the ryokan at Hakone, with the special meals for Shinichi's birthday trip! Everything was so beautiful, and the food looked extremely delicious! Shinichi, do you remember that we tried to order nasu dengaku when you were here in San Francisco, but the restaurant did not have it? You had it for your birthday dinner, and it looked so amazing! Everything looked fantastic, and I'm so happy that you and Satoshi had a mini-vacation. I hope you can visit another ryokan soon! Thank you for the beautiful video. Sending hugs to both of you!

I always feel relaxed after watching these videos. I think part of what makes Japanese cuisine so enticing is just the variety. Just the sheer variety of dishes that are offered ensures that a person won't ever feel bored eating. Each one of those dishes, except for maybe the fish sperm, looks so good.
I guess that's the problem with relaxing and why so many people talk about how they need a vacation from the vacation. Just a simple reminder to find the peace and joy in the simplest of things, ensuring to take your time and soak in all that is being offered. I tend to be a fast and sometimes nervous eater, so I almost feel it would be a crime for me to each such a meal. I would really have to slow myself down, take my time and really appreciate things in order to feel relaxed.

I miss my stay at the ryokan in Hakone last year. That was one of the most amazing experiences I've had, and I loved the meal!

The Kaiseki looked amazing! Thank you for sharing! The breakfast looked amazing, and salad is definitely not a strange thing for breakfast I do it myself.

OMG I've stayed in this exact ryokan when I visited Hakone two and a half years ago! Unfortunately the cable car was closed because of volcanic activity... Everything else was so perfect! The food (I had the same reaction to the melon you had!), the baths (we had a rotemburo!), the decor and most of all, the hospitality. I still remember the employee who showed us around and served us dinner, Satō-san. She was so nice and helpful. It was really the highlight of our vacation in Japan. Also the location is perfect! Highly recommend this establishment. If you are visiting Japan, you HAVE to splurge on a ryokan, you will not regret it and you will remember it for a long time!

The food alone is enough to make me have a deep craving to return to Japan! When I was in Hakone I didn't eat THIS lavishly, but I'm starting to regret not endulging a little more than I did!

Oh Wow! I was savoring each dish that you shared with us, loved how you explained each individual dish, made me hungry watching this video, I just love all of your food videos. I wish that I had a Japanese market closer to where I live, the nearest one is three hours away, so when I take a trip there I stock up on all of my favorite things that I like to cook. oh we went to a Ryokan just outside of Mt Fuji had a tea ceremony and bathed in the hot springs...it was so wonderful...thank you for sharing

This was amazing! We have stayed in a ryokan in Sapporo and were blown away by the food and now this Hakone (or Gora) ryokan is going on the list. Beautiful and you looked like you had the best couple days!! Happy birthday!!!
I've been to Hakone on November 2018. It's very beautiful place and I saw Fuji-san!!! So amazing and beautiful. It's the best time in my life, but I would be better if my mom and her friend were stronger. With them, I couldn't strolling around for a long time and they didn't want to go to many places. Next time, I swear I'll go alone....ALONE 😭

I remember that the food was some of the best I’ve ever had - I was so excited to eat the beef that I actually burned myself on that hot grill haha. Hakone. I was there during the spring vaccacions of 2018! The rotten eggs smell of the sulphur was not too appealing, but the views of the lake were breathtaking!
