Former PTK based pilot, and former SE Michigan CSIP. I managed a couple of Cirrus over the years. I have flown Operation Good Cheer in the Cirrus on multiple occasions. The Cirrus SRXX holds a massive amount of gifts for its size. I have fit 3 sizeable bicycles at once , and loaded up impressive amounts of gifts and other stuff. It is a great aircraft for these missions. I miss the opportunity to do this, and it was always something I looked forward to participating in, either flying or on the ground. A friend of mine's dad was the former ATC controller at PTK that basically was pivotal in managing and running Operation Good Cheer. They are terrific folks and they run this operation so well. Thanks for picking up the slack, now that I can't participate living in Texas. Be safe out there, and hopefully you can continue to volunteer into the future. Cheers.
Great mission for this Flight! It’s definitely admirable that you’re giving back for sure. Also, I completely agree with you in terms of having your flow messed up when you’re trying to do something new. It happens to me all the time as well. I always try to remind myself to just take it easy, go slow, and stick to the procedures. easier said than done for sure. At any rate, thanks for sharing, thank you so much for the transparency, and keep flying and sharing. Peace!
I flew missions like this while with Angel Flight West out of North Las Vegas. I was even Santa Clause on a couple missions. It feels good to fly with a nice reason (Charity.)
I make the same mistake of speeding up and making mistakes when I get out of my flow. I have to really recognize that I'm doing it and force myself to slow down. I don't know why our natural inclination is to speed up under stress when we need to take a breath and slow down.
