I really appreciate your videos, they are beautifully shot, very educational and you have a very calming voice to listen to. So many people overlook small critters like crustaceans, fish and mollusks, and I think these videos help to show people how beautiful these animals are. Thank you
If I was a biology teacher, I would definitely use your video at my classes. Your explanation of the shrimp anatomy deserves to be used as a teaching aid at schools. It could not be explained and shown better. Thank you for your great work!
Wow, thank you! A see-through shrimp shrimp like the ones seen in the film makes it possible to use live animals, rather then dead ones. I remember dissecting many types of dead animals in my anatomy classes. . . Not a pleasant experience . . .
I can't explain it but this video made me cry, twice. Been painting shrimp in watercolor and desperate to understand them better, especially all the incredible little baroque bits around the face, like the maxillipeds and the saphrocerites (!!!!)... thank you again Dave, you are the best thing on RUclips
It's a great compliment to know that you were brought to tears by my work. So, thank you for that. . . Shrimp are amazing animals, and they must be really difficult to paint, especially using watercolors. They're complex little creatures, and so much fun to film. I'd love to see your work. You should put a video of them on your channel. I have several more shrimp videos if you're interested. :-) 🦐🦐🦐
David I absolutely love your videos they're so informative and so professionally narrated. Do you think you could do a video of tiger and Bee shrimp possibly the genetics and the history of them. And how to properly prepare the tank for them. There seems to be a lot of misinformation about these types of shrimp and how to raise them. Thank you so much for taking the time to make these amazing videos
This was absolutely spectacular. I am so impressed, and I enjoyed it immensely. I will be watching it again, although unfortunately I don't have any friends who are obsessed with shrimp like I am, so I don't know if I can successfully share it!.
I absolutely love your work! Just one thing to note is that they actually have two pairs of antenna, just one pair branches off :) It's obviously not much of an issue, it's just usually one of the features scientists use to differ crustacea from the other classes of arthropods
@Matthew Dondy Biramous appendages - I didn't want to get that deep, but you're absolutely correct. I could've worded that differently. :-) Thanks as always for your insight. I appreciate been kept on my toes. 😀

It's masterpiece video showing how living organism is functioning. Plus great, educational narration 👏. World of shrimps, mollusks is so fascinating. I got on Christmas book "History of life on earth" , I dig it yesterday and begin to study it. Your video are super boosters to it !

That was excellent! Really appreciate the work you put into this, great narration, amazing footage, perfect amount of information. Will share with fellow enthusiasts! ❤
Interesting, didn't know that how shrimps would feed. I've always thought they were grabbing food particles. So the food actually sticks to the hairs on the claw and then it's scrapped off. So pom pom shrimps just evolved to have those hairs bigger.
i dont have a pet shrimp im peeling shrimp right now this is a crazy interesting video and considering i have a bunch of dead ones close to me i was able to analyze and see everything youre saying well done
Thanks for the footage, I got a 4k camera to see my shrimp so I can see what's going on, there's a lot of movement and they're very fast so it's hard to spot, i only recently noticed 2 pairs of claws and I could tell the back ones open up wider than the smaller ones, fascinating. It seems it's difficult to spot all the organs as they seem transparent, what other organs are around that pulsating area? Also I have 3 of these and they tend to hang around together a lot, is that typical behaviour?
Yes, it is typical for them to hang out in groups. Shrimp anatomy is complex and very different from mammals, I covered most of the main parts, but there's a pulsating area known as the Gastric Mill that grinds up the food. My video on the cherry shrimp covers some different anatomical stuff.
Thanks! I don't think I mentioned the nervous system. Most likely because it's not something that I could point out. I usually stick to the things that I can capture on film.
This is awesome! I had trouble understanding how an open circulatory system worked, you really helped me understand, thanks! One question, do shrimps have hemocyanin in their blood?
Just got to the part where you say their blood is blue, which means it does indeed contain hemocyanin! You have no idea how long I had searched for this info on the internet, truly, thank you!
