    Hi Daniel,
    Absolutely gem information.
By not knowing dual meter function I have only submitted day reading for electricity over 10 months. Now I spoke to supplier & with lil but of research I have provided correct night reading.
The amount they came back is more thank 10k which is totally unreal as I think my consumption is not more than 150 pound a month
how to solve this problem. ?

Where do I start. Well October to December we was given government help I cancelled my direct debit and thank God I did. I'm disabled with fibromyalgia and Chronic fatigue, I'm mostly bed bound so hardly use any gas or electric. I'm with Scottish power. So by Jan I was given a bill of £150 from my usual £107 monthly bills. I thought OK the energy crisis has begun, I paid it. Then in February a bill over £500 turned up on my door step, I nearly had a heart attack. My daughter who cares for me took over emailing them explains my situation and quarries the bill I'm told to pay it. Then they sent out their Baliff. I phoned them my self obly having 50 in my bank in Feb their rep said just pay that or when you can. So I did I carried on paying every month even £200 last month the bill shot up to £700 I just went into a terrible flare and felt suicidal. My daughter kept emailing them and then the bill went down to £300 they said I have to pay it immediately or il be charged £33 and £150 for them to fir a smart meter they sent another Baliff letter. Iv even had one at my door. My daughter patience was totally up so she emailed them saying she was contacting the ombudsman.. They then emailed me back this month saying they lost my account. I just don't know what to do. I think I need to contact the ombudsman now as I am really depressed by the whole situation I begun to even loose my hair. I have big bald patches I'm sure it's with the stress.

oh my god, I am not alone, ScottishPower is notorious with it lol
I moved into a flat on 10/2, where my landlord used S.P until 9/2
Received a bill in March, with a bill of over 70 pounds between 5/2 and 15/2 based on a wrong meter reading, that didn't reached until March as I checked the meter straight after I studied the bill.
Then I contacted the S.P agent and demanded correction on the reading and the bill amount- that disappointed me further.
charges me even more based on the reading as at 8/3. I contacted my home setup service, who switched my energy supplier upon the tenancy starts, they told me, that's definitely overcharged, because the new supplier took over on 12/2 instead of 15/2 and the thing is, when I checked usage between 16/2 to 29/2, it cost me less than 60 pounds. An evidence crystal clear demonstrates the problem in it.
So go ahead, fight for what you desired.

I have approached the Ombudsman on several occasions in my life.
My understanding of those I approached ie Local Government Ombudsman, were that the Ombudsman's recommendations aren't legally binding, although they carry a great deal of weight among public-sector officials and managers and so are almost always followed.
I have read that other Ombudsman decisions are binding, so am unsure why some decisions are and with others, not so?
It appears you have to take matters to court if the Ombudsman decisions or recommendations are not followed, but some appear to be just that - *recommendations*

My gas supplier hasn't fixed my faulty meter (display doesn't work) I have estimated bills, 50% higher than the rest of my street. I have asked them to repair it for months (by phone) They have not come out to fix it despite promising to do so. Finally, last month they install a smart meter, as expected it shows that my usage is MUCH less then they have billed me since 2020. My monthly gas DD went from £98 to £509.00. How do I proceed? Hi Daniell been watching this video past few months.
    Regarding the energy suppliers.
I have been over charged by edfenergy suppliers and trying to talk to them is impossible and arrange the Direct debit of lower amount is agreed not to agreeing.
And I have been charged for the whole metter units and it's not going anywhere.
Debts are created on the account Where there are no Debts.
I am Disabled person n vaurnable person.
And getting help is out off question with the suppliers.
Just waiting for the deadlock letter.
But the situation is worst in next bills then previous bill, and added more than the ussages.
Have the proof in the new bills.
If you can help or advice please.

i work out how much i spend a month, and divide it by four. the weekly amount. and it's not that bad when you do that. when you leave it three months? you get a monster bill? you can take an old bill and use it as a payment card, if it has a full barcode. or pay online? thru the site. if you leave it? it turns into a monster bill.
i was behind and i know by the end of july i have caught up to the zero level. i have to pay 30 a week. if i wait three months? it will be 360? and that looks like a monser to me, as i earn almost zero?

Oh lord faulty meters 😂 I used to work for EDF energy, in 2017 they completed over 30,000 visits to customers with 'suspected faulty meters' less than 100 were faulty, also the ones that were faulty were all obvious faults...blank screens etc
Not once did I ever witness a customer with a faulty gas meter, probably less than 1 in 1,000,000

    • @oakleycuddle
      @oakleycuddle 3 года назад +4

I do believe meters are faulty even though they are deemed 'not faulty'. Some of this bills our tenants have received have been ridiculous and when compared usage to other tenants in the same block of flats, this is strikingly obvious. No way you could get a £300 bill for a tiny one bed flat with electric heaters and just a boiler. Either this, or the company is ripping off the customers. Oh, Eon just told one of our tenants that they had to pay the last tenants bill to access hot water. I said out of the question and they joined Octopus, who treated them more fairly. Disgusting behaviour from Eon.

@@oakleycuddle Properties with electric heaters instead of gas central heating were always the problem. Virtually every call received complaining about excessive Bills involved electric heaters. If you check the ratings on electric heaters, some of them are capable of consuming 2kwh, if your paying 18p per kWh then one single heater could be costing 36p each hour to run, some properties have 5 or 6 or more of these heaters! Easy to see how quickly things get out of hand
Most people just want to assume it must be the meter without actually reviewing their appliances and looking at they consume

@@oakleycuddle I have no idea what you were saying 3 years back about ' No way you could get a £300 bill for a tiny one bed flat with electric heaters and just a boiler'. $300s looks modest compared with my own for a single room bedsit with Kitchen, corridoor and bathrom/toilet. I was getting bills for the quarter year of eight hundred pounds. Last Winter 23/34 my bill was for about £500s so I decided to turn off the Economy 7 water heater as well as both my Night Storage Heaters. I was hopefully expecting the Spring '24 bill to be about 50% less but instead received a higher bill of eight hundred pounds plus.. I literally live in a dark room except for the PC monitor screen and a low wattage bedside light which is off most of the time and some times off as long as 24 hours aday as I only use it when needed. I do do cooking in the kitchen. But turn off appliances after use. I have phnone the company many times and they basically did not want to know my concerns or how much I asked them weather or not that sounds right for a bedsit. They eventually said. 'I may have a leak'. So this has been going on about 3 years now. I wanted a smart meter so I could monitor usage but they say it is not available in my area (yet my neighbour has one). My only resolve has been to pay the bills. My PC also has a 24/7 router which is on usually all the time. But I always thought it was low wattage. So your 'No way you could get a £300 bill' just seems a little out of touch or an under assessment.

Well I am with SSE for electric I was on credit meter with a fixed two year contract . 8 months ago I changed the way the meter works from credit to prepayment . I had few phone calls with SSE . And when it was being changed from credit to prepayment I ask them it won't affect my two year contract I was told on the phone o no no that will be ok and fine . I have just found out that for the last 8 months I have been paying double what my contact said per kilowatt at 34 pence and nearly 50 pence a day standing charge . They are very naughty as I am on UC and in the limited capabilities to work group to to health issues. I can't get through on phone lines I have asked them by email to call me . They don't care I feel like I have been scammed . It's not fair and it's not right .
