‘Black Moon’ is the long-awaited first single for Cellar Darling’s new album »This Is The Sound«, which is due to be released on June 30th 2017. The song leads CELLAR DARLING's fans through an abstract, apocalyptic vision of the end of the world as seen by different cultures and religions all engulfed in a lunar eclipse. The music video was shot on beautiful Tenerife in very intense sessions.

'Black Moon' is one of the first songs we wrote after our debut single last year, and probably the point where we definitely "found" our sound. Ivo randomly called his original demo 'Moon' and that triggered the idea of a story based on the fear of a black moon... So, as a lyrical theme, we ended up exploring mankind's tendency to add an apocalyptic interpretation to the lunar eclipse.
We'd like to thank everyone involved for their hard work in the scorching hot 'lunar landscape' of Tenerife: the talented Fabienne Fellmann and her fellow actors as well as AVA Studios and their awesome team!

Why isn't this band more popular? The talent that simply exudes from them, Anna Murphy in particular, is completely amazing.
Overshadowed by Eluveitie probably
Because this band doesn’t use cleavage thumbnails to promote on RUclips like many other bands with women leads. It’s all marketing sad but true
@@MetaAndrej Unleash The Archers, Arkona, Ancient Bards, Aephanemer, Kalidia, Conquer Divide, Visions of Atlantis, and Spiritbox (AFAIK) don’t really either. (Just to name a few). I think there are instances when the stuff like cleavage showing might just be for aesthetic purposes of a music video, and mainly tolerable and the chick is actually part of the band, rather than just a marketing tool.
You see some bands like Lacuna Coil occasionally do that, but Cristina being in the band for 28 years pretty much shows that she does actually care about the music, rather than just the attention. No one would stick around for that long otherwise.
There are some bands that are rather guilty of using their singer as a marketing tool. I see bands like this sometimes tend to fall apart if they decide their singer isn’t hot enough and they keep on getting new ones.
Honestly, compared to what you see in pop music and rap music, in Rock and Metal it is significantly more tame. I’d rather see a singer in a corset than one twerking in tight pants with asscheek implants.
They pissed of some Tribe big wig in the music biz perhaps? Ye never know?

the reason i was stoked about them leaving eluveitie was the fact that we would get all songs with anna's vocals and of course you guys did not dissapoint
AND we still get new Eluveitie...best of both worlds imo. Eluveitie will be fine, new bandmates are starting to really look good together. And Anna will always be Anna, I am totally down with the split.

Yes. I recently stumbled upon Call of the Mountains and thought wow I need to hear more, next song had a different singer and I was so let down. This is more in mine with my tastes. She is fantastic

I've loved Anna's vocals since hearing Eluveitie's "The Call of The Mountains" and how it put the hairs up on the back of my neck. I love hearing vocals like that with such a powerful backing track - it's like Nightwish, it's just awesome to me!

I just love the friendship that these three great musicians have and that they decided to start a new path together because so far I love it. I'm not a fan of pre-ordering albums but in this case I couldn't help it.

Great synergy between them, the music is perfectly balanced between heavy and soft and damn....that friendship-like wibe that is coming out of it. It really seems they are doing what they love, that they love to play together and this is what makes the music great :)

THE HURDY GURDY SOLO IS SO BREATHTAKING AAAAAH
I feel very much that vibe and energy from late 90's/early 2000's mainstream bands, with a little bit of refreshing and cool sounding ideas (and instruments), it's just great!

Fantastic song, I'm looking forward to hearing more! I also love their integrity, it must have been a very hard decision for Anna and Ivo to leave a band they had been part of for so many years. I have a massive amount of admiration for them as both people and musicians, and I hope to see them live sometime soon.

Yeah I looked into them after finding this and realized all that. I had heard about the split and Anna's name sounded so familiar to me but I didn't put the pieces together right away. Still great to see good music coming out of such talented people. I hope the best for both groups, really.

I'm pretty sure that you three musical masterminds find a way to arrange Cellar Darlings instrumental style (which seems to vary quite a bit) with Ivos guttural voices as he did in "Awake".

Misha Yar personally, I think the less approach is working for them. I'm not recommending Eluveite lose musicians, because the multitude of musicians is what makes Eluveitie so good, but here, the less approach allows for more concentration on the 3 musicians, it allows the hurdy-gurdy to stand out more, and it better suits the style. But that's just me.
I didn't say I wanted them to do folk, just that one drum set, one hurdy gurdy and a guitar is a bit shallow for my tastes.
there's other options out there that don't necessarily make your sound more folk-y

Origial band...where? They're amaizing but clarely the're looking for a new sound. I'am not satng that they can't be good some day, but right know i feel they're wasted in this way.
I belive that this project will be a disaster for Anna, Ivo, Marlin and for Eluveitie too.
Leve the eluveitie was a mistake...don't know what appened, maybe Crigel acted as an ass, still can't say that modern eluveitie or cellar darling are even near to what eluveitie was.
I think eluveitie has the most to loose, Anna was very much loved in the band and they will definitly suffer a backlash(unless they have the good fortune to find a new singer that has a similar unique voice as Anna).
As for cellar darling they will not reach the same public as eluveitie but most likely a new one, they will most likely not play on all the metal festivals like eluveitie but that's not what I feel they want to do.

Very good. I'm glad you guys didn't just take the Eluveitie direction - that would have been too easy & obvious. This sounds fresh. Know what I hear? Big hints of System Of A Down and a dash of The Cranberries (Anna's vocals definitely remind me of Dolores). Well done guys. Even higher hopes for the album now :)
