False advertising. I've walked through the forests of Skyrim a thousand times, and never came across a single metal band. Bethesda's got some splainin' to do.
Metal is probably the most complex and varied genre in all of music. You can make it go with anything and make it sound good. It doesn't have to be growling to be metal. Power metal, thrash, folk, death/black, industrial, progressive, and God knows how many others. Metal has more sub-genres than the music industry has main genres.
+David Maglioli Is that so? I'm a lot into metal and I've always wondered if that is the only reason why I know so many subgenres of it and I'm just not aware of the variety of let's say hip hop, which I'm not knowledgeable about. So other genres are really more limited in variety as metal? That would be sad :(
+David Maglioli Ever heard of Jazz? It might not sound as different as the metal genres, but there are various styles too. I know that you can't compare Metal and Jazz, just wanted to say that.
As someone who shares the same first name, and have been a listener since 2016 (I knew of them earlier and regret not checking them out), I strongly agree
As someone whole lived all her life near mountains and had to move away this song brings me to tears. "The call of home" really hits in the heart. How I wish I could show this song to my father, who was a true mountain man.
"Where do you film your music video's?" "The woods." "Ok very strange, lets move on. What type of band is it?" "A metal band." "Typical. What do you play?" "The Flute."
Good luck on your separate paths. Best wishes to everyone in/or leaving the band. Looking forward to Ana's future projects and Eluveitie's new band mates and new album. *horns up*
I’m in the Rocky Mountains of America. I love this band and I love this song! Once you have lived in the mountains it gets into your soul. I understand the call, because every time I left I ended up back in them.
Thank you for this beautiful metal song. My fiance John David Spearman, who has passed away. Loved this song, this meant so much to him. He had and still has respect towards his heritage ❤

Same. I grew up in the mountains. I live in a city now, but a part of me still wants to return there on every possible occasion. Everyone always goes to the sea for vacation and I'm like - "Nah, mountains time!"
Fun fact for those are unaware: Eluveitie being a swiss band released this song, in adition to it's English version, in every native language spoken in Switzerland (Which are 4 bloody languages: Rumansch, Swiss-German, French and Italian)
Well its a good song I love the mix between metal and softer stuff, metal doesnt always has to be hard, and this is the calmest one, the album is out on spotify and it has some neat song, I actually loved this new one, and I held the last in high regard aswell great band. And dont worry your oppinions is not wrong, we cant love everything:D
Marcelo Arroyo Nope, they weren't!! They had 2 LPs and one EP out before the Arcane Dominion and they were really GREAT! Check e.g. "Tagernako" from "Spirit"... IMHO Eluveitie need to get off the 'metalcore' path asap, and get back to their roots, enhancing and boosting up their more folkish and traditional side as well... More maniac fiddle interludes (as in the "Siege") would be gr8, too! ;-))
Attic Dweller so you hated helvetios i take it? the female vocalist is featured on alot of the songs on it, the songs them selves are great, and considering the subject(the roman invasion of gaul) i'd say it's metal as fuck.
I saw them in a 9GAG post. 3 and a half years ago I moved from a crappy capital city to a mountain city. This song captures the essence of what I feel like up there, there is this timeless like presence of the ancients and everything that was and will be. And it makes sense, I looked it up and only ONE of the layers you might see on a side of a cliff takes millions of years to form. I am not very religious and I don't go to church, but if you want to speak with God, you go on the mountains. There you'll find your answers.
My brother thinks of all metal as death metal. So I showed him Iron Maiden's "Empire Of The Clouds", because it's a slow piano song. He reacted with "but how is that metal?"
Anna Murphy Now, now. They're not all bad. My country produces a golden band every once in a while. (Longer then I'd like). But even with that in mind, for a good band to arise from all the rap and mainstream gas that so many breathe in here. It's nothing short of a show of determination and strength in the metal that they want to show to everyone so that we can have more freedom in what we choose to listen to.
IgnisKing rap music promotes violence, rape, and drugs in of which my Queen here and all the rest like her are not screwed up like all the Americans are. Much better than the Americans and I will stand up for them all.
Best song they have ever done, I keep coming back to this one over and over again. I love the mix of traditional Celtic instruments and modern rock such a fascinating sound.
its new to me, a stray form typical metal, its fresh new edge and mix. im liking this and operatic metal too. computers open up a window of "easy find" should have got one 25 years ago. hahaha
Speaking as an American here, I find it so interesting that if I want to hear good metal, folk or anything along those lines, I now need to listen to Finish, Swiss & German bands. We used to make good metal like this, but not anymore. Thankfully the European countries are now doing it or I'd have nothing to listen to.
Lol, I don't remember the US making good folk metal or even the best metal in general. That's not something you get with money, you need to grow up in a certain amount of culture.
@@irokosalei5133 Back in the 90's and 80's the US was basically the hub for rock and metal. We lost our way after grunge and alternative rock became mainstream.
@@irokosalei5133 I agree with you if you mean American folk/pagan metal bands I also can't remember any. But in other metal genres like alternative, nu etc. americans have a lot of outstanding bands, I can name you heaps but we all know them and they really influenced the metal genre a lot in whole. @@j1n2 Yes, I agree, and Russia has one of the very best bands: Louna. I attended one of their concerts here in the U.S.A. about 5 years ago. I had a pleasant conversation with the singer Lou (Lousine) after the concert. Louna has released several excellent CDs.
This is Switzerland in a song. Forget about the stereotypical (though charming) yodelling, accordions, horns and cowbells for a minute and go back to the Swiss routes that to this day are still present. Stout independence, loyalty to your ancestral homeland and the longing to return to the Swiss alps. Funnily enough, the term 'nostalgia' was first coined by physicians in the 16th century when Swiss mercenaries became sick and depressed. It was concluded that years of campaigning abroad made them miss their mountaneous home and all the things that came with it - the meadows, snow on the peaks, decent cheese maybe. I'm also very drunk. Xx
Not Swiss myself but I know all too well 'the call of the mountains' (I'm part Austrian through the maternal lineage; part Ukrainian on that side too - don't ask) and whenever I get over there and visit the Alpine regions, I get that feeling that I am, well, home. There is nothing quite like gazing over the valleys on a clear day when all you can hear is the sound of the crickets in the long grass, the calls of the birds and the occasional cowbell - all I can say is that it enriches the soul and lifts the heart in ways that have to be experienced to be understood.
This song gives me so many different feels. I'm Irish and Norwegian by blood, and my hometown is Denver. I haven't lived in Colorado for a long time, and almost everyday, I hear the call of the mountains. I want to go home.
Brian Massey - - Aurora, CO & from here, we're trapped between Buckley AFB & D.I.A. But we can hear & see "The Call Of The Mountains", gotta' love them Rocky Mountains! Maybe one day you can go to where your bloodline hails from Pally - - peace Bro.
Loveland CO born and raised, and I've just discovered this band a few weeks ago and they're my most recent obsession. Great to see some CO representation here! I love to camp in our beautiful Rocky Mountain backyard, and I'll be sure to jam this band on my speaker as I take in the idyllic beauty and enjoy a strong beverage.
I saw a cover of Lamb of God - "Grace", played by a women on a hurdey gurdey, and a poster of this band was on the wall behind her. I just had to check you guys out. I am very glad I did. I enjoyed this very much!!

Metal is probably the most complex and varied genre in all of music. You can make it go with anything and make it sound good. It doesn't have to be growling to be metal. Power metal, thrash, folk, death/black, industrial, progressive, and God knows how many others. Metal has more sub-genres than the music industry has main genres.
well said
+David Maglioli Is that so? I'm a lot into metal and I've always wondered if that is the only reason why I know so many subgenres of it and I'm just not aware of the variety of let's say hip hop, which I'm not knowledgeable about. So other genres are really more limited in variety as metal? That would be sad :(
+Deathly Phobia
Atheist rap and Nerdcore FTW!
+David Maglioli Ever heard of Jazz? It might not sound as different as the metal genres, but there are various styles too. I know that you can't compare Metal and Jazz, just wanted to say that.
You might want to look up a genre called "Classical Music"...
All these years later, and this is still the Platonic Ideal of a folk metal song.
As someone who shares the same first name, and have been a listener since 2016 (I knew of them earlier and regret not checking them out), I strongly agree
For me, this is the best Eluveitie lineup!
@Lowkey27 But luckily we have Cellar Darling. I aint mad!

As someone whole lived all her life near mountains and had to move away this song brings me to tears. "The call of home" really hits in the heart. How I wish I could show this song to my father, who was a true mountain man.
I used to have a mountain range behind my house in Montana when I was younger I miss it a lot
"Where do you film your music video's?"
"The woods."
"Ok very strange, lets move on. What type of band is it?"
"A metal band."
"Typical. What do you play?"
"The Flute."

I’m in the Rocky Mountains of America. I love this band and I love this song! Once you have lived in the mountains it gets into your soul. I understand the call, because every time I left I ended up back in them.
Same although in the Greek mountains of hot gates. We mountain people get each other though.

Why do so many care about the name of genres? If this is enjoyable then what does it matter what it's called? For all I care, this could be unicornpussykillcore metal and I'd still be listening to the song.

If it was called that then i'd listen even if it sucked! :P

A beckon, the flight of the cranes
The call of the mountains
The call of the Alps

The tune in our hearts
The song of the mountains
What's that stir, so blatant in our sallying hearts?

(Which are 4 bloody languages: Rumansch, Swiss-German, French and Italian)

And dont worry your oppinions is not wrong, we cant love everything:D
I bet that's partly Nuclear Blast's fault. Have you heard what this "label" does to Wintersun?
The only difference I see is that the growls are replaced with clean vocals... That doesn't make it a pop song to me
Marcelo Arroyo Nope, they weren't!!
More maniac fiddle interludes (as in the "Siege") would be gr8, too! ;-))

This song brings me the happy memories of the summer just gone
I saw them in a 9GAG post. 3 and a half years ago I moved from a crappy capital city to a mountain city. This song captures the essence of what I feel like up there, there is this timeless like presence of the ancients and everything that was and will be. And it makes sense, I looked it up and only ONE of the layers you might see on a side of a cliff takes millions of years to form. I am not very religious and I don't go to church, but if you want to speak with God, you go on the mountains. There you'll find your answers.
Proof that Melodic Metal exists and Metal has evolved.
My brother thinks of all metal as death metal. So I showed him Iron Maiden's "Empire Of The Clouds", because it's a slow piano song. He reacted with "but how is that metal?"

Anna Murphy Love it. You and all the women of metal over their have America beat.
Anna Murphy I have spoken the truth. They all are horrible over here.

I'm swiss and i can absolutely agree, especially the last term ;-)
The Swiss are weird. No wonder they are neutral in everything lol
Lets just better say 90% of middle and north Europe.
