The way that I've been listening to RAYE since 2017 and never gave up on her, makes me really proud that my underrated artist finally gets some recognition for all the work that she puts into her music. It's an amazing feeling! Cannot wait for her next project. She is incredibly talented!

The theme of “the black dress” in the first half of the album is so significant
It symbolises her going out to forget
But also mourning what she has lost
Who she was before the incidents
But it then becomes a symbol of the strength to move on and go out through all the emotional turmoil and not let anyone silence you
The little black dress is slick and simple but bc of its design it draws attention, it’s up to the person in it to have the confidence not to care about what other people’s opinions are and love it
Basically her having to love herself regardless of what people say about her, whether it be her ex-label, ex-boyfriend, future companions, fake friends, etc.
this is such a good analogy. I wish she'd worn a black dress on the cover, but I mean - I guess she took it off by the end of the album, so that's why she's no more wearing it.
On the cover she’s seen as a young girl running away from old executive men from the industry specifically her old label
She uses a barricade of instruments to keep them out, symbolising how the music helped drown out their doubt and control
The little girl is wearing shoes that are too big for her which means she shrinks herself and becomes the little girl she used to be when she’s scared and also how the little girl with dreams that she was has big shoes to fill and that she’s got to go through some things to get there
The little girl is wearing a black skirt which is not yet the Black Dress showing she has potential who she wants to become and also that she hasn’t gone through the things that make the Black Mascara run into her black designer and make her the person in the first half of the album
She’s also wearing an unstained white shirt that could symbolise her purity and innocence before the Ice Cream Man (and others) made her Black Mascara run

Raye is so talented it's insane that polydor wouldn't let her release an album. Happy that she is out of that situation. I think she wrote Last Summer with Zara Larsson that is on the summer edition of Poster Girl. Ice Cream Man really breaks my heart.
