  • This is the easiest way to change the oil in a Jaguar XJ / X351! The oil that Jaguar recommends is Castrol EDGE SAE 5W-20 Advanced Full Synthetic Motor Oil with Fluid TITANIUM Technology. Here are some features of this specific oil from advanceautoparts:
    * 3x stronger than Mobil 1 against viscosity breakdown (per the Kurt Orbahn test in the 5w-30 vis-grade)
    * 6x stronger against wear caused by metal-to-metal contact vs industry standards . (Seq IVA vs API SN PLUS Limits)
    * 10x stronger against high temperature oil thickening vs. industry standards(Seq IIIH vs API SN PLUS Limits)
    * Helps improve fuel economy
    * Exceeds: ACEA A3/B4. API SN/CF, BMW Longlife-01, MB-Approval 229.3, Porsche A40, VW 502 00 / 505 00

    Are you not worried that you are potentially leaving heavy, metallic sludge behind which traditional draining might clear?

    • @XJLuxury

      Yes that is why I no longer use this method and in the video I mention it should still be drained from underneath as well.

  • @yarleumas

    Change the filter element first, because I believe the oil inside drains down to the pan when you crack the element open. That way, you can drain out the oil that was in the filter too.

    • @XJLuxury
      @XJLuxury  4 года назад +3

      That is a good idea. I did not do that because of how the filter is on top of the engine but when I did remove it there was a puddle of old oil in the filter housing that I did suck up with the tool. In the future I will remove the filter first.

Only issues that I’ve had was it had a bad valve cover oil leak when I got it, I had to change the alternator, it has some windshield washer leak, the drivers door won’t lock and it has something to do with the actuator, and the rear glass randomly cracked out of no where. I also smell a lot of antifreeze which tells me my water pump might be going soon which is very common on these.

      Well Jaguar wanted over $300 for the oil change. The car used about 8 Qts of oil if I can remember and the filter was very expensive at $30 and that was the shops cost. I would say expect to pay around $100-150 at an independent shop and maybe $50-75 doing it yourself.
