Turbo upgrade for the MK4 GTI / Jetta! K03s upgrade!

- Australian delivered mk4 GTIs only came with 1.8t with an AGU engine code that had the k03 which was good but ran out of puff after 180-190hp at the engine.
The k03s in other markets pushed out anything up to 240hp which is where I want to be. it's going to depend largely on tune but first step is turbo swap!
I've tried to be as detailed as I can as I couldn't see any other videos with the same amount of info. I found myself having to go to different videos so hope this helps!

1/4 inch swivel extensions on 12/13 mm for those manifold bolts is the best option. Great work sire

Great job sir well explained and filmed. I have a smoke issue on my Mk1 audi TT 180 on the left side as you look from the front of the car, I’ve changed the rocker cover gasket no change thinking it may be a damaged or loose charge pipe after the pancake pipe as that’s where the smoke comes from that area!
If it is not the rocker cover gasket and it is still leaking it could be cam seals or half moon seal. Clean and check around those areas for leaks after it is clean :D
what size Allen socket did you use for the oil feed and water feed. I've been trying to find the measurements of these 2 dolts for a while now and would greatly appreciate it if you could let me know.

I am planning to replace my turbo too with a K03s like you since my stock K03 doesn’t held above 0.6 bar after remapping (I’ll check for boost leaks before tho). I will do it on my A3 8L with the same AGU engine.
Quick question, does the stock turbo inlet pipe fits into the K03s inlet? I heard that it’s quite thicker, but some people told me that’s okay… Same with the charge pipe ? No modifications needed?

The stock turbo inlet may not fit without modification, I would suggest getting a silicone hose replacement if you can.
Charge pipes are the same. Direct fit.

Hi there, thanks for watching. You certainly can go aftermarket actuator and it would help your tuner to dial in the boost but be careful with the spring rate as if it's too stiff it can go into over boost situation.
Hey nice job , I just pulled the engine out , no chance I could try and finaggle around the back of the turbo. I have just put k04 001 on but intake is now to small . Where did you get your intake from?
I got my Intake from a friend who no doubt go it from eBay - look for creation motor sport oversized tips. There's a cheaper option i'll try and find a link

Hi, i have a question. Is it possible to take the turbo out throw the downside without taking off the exhaust manifold? I dont know if theres room to fit the top water/oil lanes before screwing the 3 bolts to the manifold. Thanks u in advance mate!
There's literally no room to get to the banjo bolts that's why most take it from the top since the manifold has to come off anyway

It's a k03-052 without silencer or k03-053 with silencer.
Is this install the same for 1.8t awp engine? I have a 04 jetta
Same swap yeah might have differnces in emissions stuff around the engine but turbo swap would be similar.

I didn't install one for my k03s build. But I have one now for my current k04.
Is smoking from exhaust out rear normal tho
After a turbo change yes it'll smoke a little when start up.
Too much though could be something else.
Let it finish waning up and burning off excess fluids.

Yes about 30-40hp difference

@@1mad_bug I only know of one tuner in NSW Australia who can tune the me3.8.3 to run 98 Ron and E85 using knock sensors I believe. They are Quattro motorsport. I've never used them but they claim to be able to do it using 550cc Bosch's injectors paired with a K04-001 turbo
