To be fair, almost all comics hate on others catching a big break of success whether they're open about it or not lol. I'm in the same boat. They can carry a great conversation but really don't have killer stand up sets.
Exactly same over here
Hate the podcast because I thought it would be funny. Love the stand up lol.
@5,ooo LightYears Away For sure. Marc is a smart introvert who seems bitter about not being as successful as many of his dumber peers. Of course he's gonna hate Dane who's comedy is so simple and yet so funny to the average person b/c of his charisma. Not to mention Dane's a marketing genius.
I like Rogan's bits about athiesm and the Kardashians, but not a huge fan of 99% of his podcasts. If Neil Tyson or Elon Musk comes out then its fine but the fighters are the worst. I can only listen to so much of guys who have been hit in the head too much trading conspiracy theories.
Man that was one hell of a confrontation, whoa baby, serious stuff.
I love this. And I'm amazed. Maron is so honest as a person Patrice respects him 10 fold.
fuck maron

I miss the candidness of Patrice. I miss Giraldo for the same reason. 💔
Yeah. Patrice and Greg, I miss the shit out of them.
I'm so glad I downloaded the complete archive of Patrice's episodes of O&A.
I don't know if it is even up online anymore.
Looks like there's one there with 22 episodes. Did you also get Cult of Black Phillip ?
@@paullayfield The one I have is about 150 full episodes. No Black Philip, though.
@@RolandDeschain1 Cult of Black Phillip page has about 150 episodes totlal & you can download the black Phillip stuff. You definitely made a wise decision getting those. I wonder if they also have a compete Dice archive. Or Anthony as Dice. He went into some goofy shit when they would let him just go on & on & was always pretty entertaining
Patrice is a top 5 comedian ever and he doesn't get enough credit. That dude was the best.
Dane Cook was a MySpace kid who hustled super hard and his comedy related to a lot of the kids during that time who just wanted to laugh and have fun.
Lolol what? MySpace kid? Lol he was on the scene WAYYYYY before MySpace. Lol he was also in his mid 30s when MySpace blew up...aka hardly a kid
You’re explaining his popularity. You said nothing about how unrelentingly unfunny he is. He was exposed after 18 yr olds with not a clue, grew up and realized what a hack he was and is
@@golfer5636well, if he’s a hack…he still garnered way more laughs, saw a lot more success, and accomplished way more than either of us. 🤷🏻♂️
Opie mentioning that everything is moving toward podcasts is eerie.

That San fransisco line from Patrice.. So true lmao 😂 Haven't seen this clip in a long while, man he is missed! RIP, wish he was here in 2021 🙏💜
Props to them for sticking up for Dane and not dogging him out like a bunch of bandwagoners.
Patrice did end up going on Marc Marron's podcast, and it's fantastic;
A lot of what he says does end up on his last special,
_Elephant In the Room._
"Like an old bible weapon"
Okay, I'm using that.
Todd Barry getting a name drop...dude is underrated too
Todd Barry is funny as hell. I watch his special on Netflix all the time. Very underrated.
Todd Barry is a Dave Attell clone.
Marc Maron looks like an unkept Ned Flanders
More like a more rugged Seth Green

Marc has ALWAYS been salty of other comedians success, wether you like that comic or not.
Even going back to Colin Quinns old show, Marc has always been petty and passive aggressive towards other people’s success.
Dane Cook was a notorious joke thief
@@BodieB I didn’t even mention Dane. I’m talking in general, Marc has always had that attitude.
I don’t care if it’s Dane Cook or Greg Giraldo, Marc has always seethed jealously of his peers’ success
Liking someone doesn't make them creative.Dane's funny and hard working, but he's not creative. You might get salty too if the stuff you came up with and worked hard to do it, someone just swoops in and takes it and makes the millions of dollars you deserve
To be fair, almost all comics hate on others catching a big break of success whether they're open about it or not lol. I can appreciate Maron being open about it even though I'm not a fan of his, but it's always been a trope how comics are resentful and bitter whenever one of them strikes success. Dane Cook was selling out arenas and absolutely sucked, you don't think his peers during that time were shaking their heads at how that lame joke thief was doing that and they were still at Caroline's every Friday?
Starts talking about Dane at 7:25

This is where Jimmy belongs, as a 3rd mic to react fast and drop some of the best lines out there, not as the main guy.
He played his position great back in this era.
Andy Raye yea te problem is he sucks on both the norton and Sam show and with Anthony cumia over at his network.
tokyosmash He stinks these days and you can’t deny it
jimmy's remark when patrice is talking about his package " like a neck with calcium deposits " was top-form jimmy
The Third Mic would be a great name for his new special. Totally agree by the way. He's brilliant in this position.

I wish Patrice knew that so many people loved and cherished him. He thought not many people knew him but only the people that mattered knew him. He was more than a comedian he was a prophet and one hell of a life coach. My biggest regret is never getting to meet him or see him live. One of the biggest things I took from his advice is to be righteous and be careful what you owe.

No dane very obviously stole jokes. Either subconsciously or consciously is the only argument.
@@JimJamJ4 i thought that unconscious theft of a joke was impossible to not know, that it was bs....then i cracked a joke to a friend, and hes like ya heard that on tv, and i straight up didnt believe him, and was ready to make fun of him, cause i was sure i made that shit up. Never felt so stupid and possibly senile when i was dead wrong. So its definitely a thing lol
@@moo-snuckle yessir I hate it, im an amateur as shit standup but I write a lot of jokes. Ill Google every single thing I write just to make sure the premise or something see if I stole anything cause I watch so much comedy im sure I stole any of the funny shit I come up with.
@@JimJamJ4 An entire hour of jokes? That's a lot of jokes. I never thought he was funny but he was pretty loose and relaxed up there...if he had jokes, he would have been great.
@@ClayLud haha fuck my dumbass had to reread your comment to get it, that was gold😂 but no I am definitely not implying dane stole an hour of jokes, just the best ones he hacked his way through. He also applies to a much younger audience, similar to tough crowd and stuff appeals to older. Not a dane hater at all, car crash jokes one of my favourites but I love Pete rose too and think he cheated, doesn't meant he wasn't one of the great but still a cheat.
This is the second time I've heard this in 3 months, and it's just as great.
Patrice and Marc are hilarious together.
Marc Maron in GLOW is amazing. I had no idea he could act.
for real, Maron is a self involved hack who holds others to some standard of self-prescribed integrity that he can't even get close to
That's just him.. no acting involved.
In season 1, when that dude smacked him to the floor though...
ao el is that you, Marc Maron?
Just like rappers comedians are innate actors... but he can only play HIMSELF .... his parts are always type casts and written for him...

Marc hates Dane because his entire act isn’t whining and self deprecating 😂
Sure, so what if Dane's comedy is light weight, he's like the band, Poison. If you're fan of heavy music, you might not like Poison.
Dane cook shows at the garden where really good let's not lie
Is it just comics that don't like dane? I feel like he is the nickelback of the comedy world. EVERYONE loved him back in the day, and all of a sudden he's a pariah. I really like him, and hope he comes back to the big screen someday
They’re pissed because he was selling out msg. Comedians are usually weird jealous sociopaths.

I'm 32 from Brazil, was 19 when I moved to Canada in 05. I never really had access to standup before, and I loved Dane Cook. Listened to his CD a bunch of times and I enjoyed it when I was young. Now, I'd be over it even if he was still on top. But he was important for standup back then. He had his time
Dane sucked balls, he was the boy band of stand up.
I don't know about stand up but he was never important to me
I only ever needed to see a half minute clip of Dane on YT to know that I didn't need to see more.
I don't think so.
Nah.
It's sad to see how so many comedians always attack the one who's on top at the moment.
