“Hit trees harder than Sonny Bono.” Sonny Bono is Cher’s husband and he died when he hit a tree while skiing. Em was wildin’ on this whole track!
Em was wildin' nonstop for the first three albums 😂 (well, technically albums 2, 3, and 4 but you get it lol)
@@dawb86Encore was low-key fire too
@@olschoolTonyCarter It was cool but stylistically that's when he started changing to me, wasn't really my style by then
@@dawb86I agree. I f**ed with Eminem first 3 albums. Some songs on 4. It was bunk after that.
Yeah, Eminem on drugs was a different breed. Glad hes off all that shit but man, i miss when he would say crazy outta pocket shit back then lmaoo
I think this was the song that made me realize he was more than a gimmick
😎
Same. Even though listening back, it’s still gimmicky as hell. But the beat was official and moreso than on My Name Is, you could hear he was a really dope MC
@@gweah7821 I mean technically, EVERY mainstream rapper is selling you on a gimmick. Kanye basically admitted that he wasn't into the conscious rap shit like that and essentially used cats like Mos, Common and Kweli because they were the only ones that accepted him earlier on. So his "gimmick" was being the conscious/backpack rapper that hung with the cool kids. (Jay-Z/Cam/Beans/etc)
@@dawb86yeah back then you needed a gimmick to get attention, half of NY was that mafia gimmick, half of LAs gimmick was acting like a Mexican gangsters, even though most them came from good families and good schools. Just depends on what the artist does after the gimmick runs out and how they evolve or keep people's attention
@@dawb86now the gimmick is either bagpack rap as you said which is still kind of niche imo, the drill gimmick or that Xanax and lean druggy gimmick
Or the female rap gimmick
After 11 albums and 20 plus years of listening to this guy, this song right here is still my absolute favorite ever. It's just sums up everything about his talent and personality in one song.
There’s just something about it, I think you nailed it. It’s like the quintessential Em track the way I think of Eminem.
This one’s always been a monster of a tune,absolute banger 💪💪
“I get a clean shave, bathe, go to a rave, die from an overdose, and dig myself out of my grave” is such an intricate, yet smooth line. I love his flow on that shit!
When I smoke out I hit the trees harder then sonny bono😂personal favorite line
This album is great, one of the funniest albums ever. I really miss the funny Eminem that doesn’t take himself so seriously.
Well he is 50 years old with adult children. gotta grow up sometimes
@@otisyoungbloodMarlon Wayans 50 also and he still funny & fun
"I bought Cage's tape, opened it and dubbed over it"
Is a reference to Cage who was a similar rapper to Eminem. Back in the day, you could record over cassettes. So Em's saying he spent the money for his Cassette Tape, but just recorded over the whole thing. Thats cold.
Cage was an underground rapper from NY who had beef with Em...they both had the crazy white boy image along with Necro. Cage and Em had a few diss tracks back n forth around this time. Its wild because Cage who legit crazy and is hella emo now lol
Gotta do Eminem - As The World Turns next 😂😂😂
fr 😂
Yessir!!!
The whole Album is worth a review. The man is lyrically gifted.
Sherbert is like a form of icecream idk how to exactly desccribe it but theyd give u that in the hospital after having ur tounsils taken out lol
Orange sherbet is legendary
I'm not sure about America, but here in the UK we used to have a different kind of sherbert. This was a white powder that was kinda fizzy against the tongue. I believe Em may have been referring to this Sherbert because after ripping her tonsils out, feeding her something that would fizz would increase the pain, rather than easing it like ice cream or similar would. Which effect do you think Em would go for in that case? Lol
@@AlexWorrell Absolutely the 2nd one. Only em can go that far🏊😂
I loved all ice cream and sherbert but when I had my tonsils removed that was my diet for 2 weeks once I healed I didn't eat it for atleast a year lol
My favorite Shady song. Beat is fucking fire.
Early Em is the best. Listen to those first 2 albums.
I think Eminem Show is him at his peak
I dyed my hair blonde about 3 months after I first heard this song. I was a Stan before Stan, I had just gotten my license and played this almost nonstop on my Alpine system that cost more than my pos Honda!!
"sherbet"the ice cream. I think the Eminem Show was my favorite album, I hope you put Death Certificate on the list. Ice Cube was in the zone for most of his career. Sonny Bono was skiing, hit a tree head on 😔
Slim is a fucking legend! Love this album! 😂 you gotta review it! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Marcus Allen was O.J.'s teammate who he asked to testify saying he had an affair with Nicole. Ron Goldman was the guy who had an affair with Nicole.
Memories Of 1998'' 99'' Back when Eminem was Dangerous with the Bars And All. Way Before The 8 Mile movie. This Album is a Classic And still 1 of my favorites from Eminem!🎶🔥🔥🔥😎
That Dre beat with those witty punchlines. This was those Slim Shady days 🔥🔥
2:41
Triple meaning: At that time Eminem was not even on the radar for the public who felt he did not exist. Hip-Hop was so predominantly black at the time, most white rappers like Vanilla Ice weren't lyrically... impressive, so someone like Em _"couldn't exist"_. This song is made from the Perspective of _"Slim Shady"_ (evidently because of the lyrical content). Slim Shady obviously doesn't exist, he's just the figment of *Eminem*'s imagination.
4:32
Did anyone else (who obviously hadn't seen Psycho II before hearing the song) think that when Eminem said that, we all automatically thought he was actually talking about himself and his real mother? (without having to _"dress it up"_ with the Psycho II reference, that is.)
(The fights that Eminem had during that time against his own mother were very strong and very frequent.)
6:03
Your laugh made me laugh too 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Now that OJ Simpson has passed away, you get those "wow, I'm feeling old" vibes.
That ice cube leathel injection is classic. Yo another sick reaction.
🔥
Lauren Hill said she rather her children starve than white people buy her album so that’s why Eminem kept making these jokes lmao
That was a rumor
This song slapped in 99 fr we were blown away he became shady
the line in the freestyle was "scariest then a white trapped in a room white laoren hill" he changed it and it's even better
This was so epic when it came out. I was 14 the goat
This is still one of Em's hardest tracks...
The very first video and song I heard from Eminem is "My name is....". I hated it at first but MTV heavily played it out and I slowly liked it over time. But THIS song and video made me a complete fan of his because of how dark it is! The first 2 commercial albums and the album "Infinite(96)" are my favorites! This was a short but good reaction 👍!
What did you think of Kamikaze and MTMB?
My guess would be you didn’t like them.
As for me I love his old stuff and new stuff, for me he’s one of the best to ever do it.
A true student of the game.
@@MrKnowledge0014. I definitely liked both Kamikaze and M.2.B.M.B, I heard the Kamikaze album on RUclips and I actually have the double disc of M.2.B.M.B! Both are 🔥 bodies of work from Em! He definitely was the student of the game because Treach of Naughty by nature was his actual inspiration for him to start rhyming in the first place. Treach is also sick with the wordplay as well!
@@MrKnowledge0014. The first 2 albums of Eminem's I just listened to heavily at the time.
@@anthonymcmillan8273don’t forget Big Daddy Kane.
Em hates "my name is" seen in concert once when the up in smoke tour was going shortly after MMLP came out he started that song and said F this I hate this F'n Song, you could hear a bunch of ahhhs in the crowd when he stopped it including myself, i was 12yrs old going to that show had no business being there. haha
You should react to D12 - Devil's Night that album was wild asf. Eminem's group
EM is the best 🔥🙅🏽♂️
There is also a one line diss to Cage who said Eminem stole his style. He is an underground mc from the Weathermen crew and Smut Peddlers, but he's first few albums are ug classics. I think you should listen to the Agent Orange from him, that's also a crazy joint.
Movies for the blind is one of my favorite albums of all Time
Also the Leak Bros album with him and Tame 1 is one of the greatest albums i ever heard
slept on underground classic! Tame One matched Cage's style perfectly@@SCUZZI87
@@SCUZZI87 Yeah that Leak Bros Waterworld is amazing. Funny story for those who don't know ... Cage had a contract that he had to deliver X number of albums. He had one more album to get out of his deal. So, he hooked up with Tame One and made an entire album about smoking wet. LMAO.
slim shady lp and martial mathers lp were pop cultural phenomenons at the time. they still are.
This is my favorite Eminem song.
You're one of the best reactors on the platform. Looking forward to more content fam 🔥.
I appreciate that my dude 👊🏾💯💯
"How tf can I be white? I don't even exist". Cause it was Slim Shady. Which is just a fictional character created by Marshall Mathers lol. I love that line cause a bunch of people to this day still don't get it.
You got my sub bro, it's like you're reviewing my own playlist lol
Love this reaction 😂😂
W reaction. Love the channel
King my brother it's me again love the video Em went hard but again you have to give the people a great story told by 1 of the greatest storytellers of all time Shakey Dog Ghostface
This is one of the best songs I’ve heard
I was 14 when this dropped I listened to the whole cd thousands of times God should get our focus not rappers but em is dope
I have to insist that you take yourself immediately to the store and try Orange Sherbet! You've definitely missed out 😂👌🏾
funniest rapper who never smiles... gonna go listen to reaction of the album now!
Sick shirt b 💯
This Dr Dre beat banging like a mf
This was my theme song back in high school
Salute King u reviewing nothing but classics thats why the oldheads like me love yo channel
😂😂😂😂 Yoo King, the whole album is Like That!!
Make sure you near a hospital, cuz you're about to be full of stitches😂😂
I thank you for recognizing that age gap on references there’s a lot lmao Em crazy lmao goat
em is fire especially early Eminem .
If U haven't reacted to Em's early stuff yet (before SLIM SHADY EP, LP & INFINITE), I strongly recommend BITERPHOBIA (HQ Version) & ONE-HANDED JUGGLER (Studio Version). Em has always been an INCREDIBLE MC. Keep up the great work (it's appreciated). Good Luck & Njoy!! 😎👍
Is the hardest CD ever Eminem for real💨🔥🔥
If you're going to review Ice Cube, I suggest starting at Amerikkka's Most Wanted then Kill At Will then Death Certificate then Predator..
That Cage dis always gets me.
Love the fact that you are not scared to give Em his props.
🤙
Yeah, it's 🔥
He has a song on Missy's album Da Real World that goes in.
Yeah I was like 17 years old when Eminem came out and this shit was just crazy.
Underrated song on this album, I don’t hear a lot of people talking about it
Sick shirt
The video is crazy
Dude really said what’s a sherbert
Yo that Pun shirt is fire
Didn't know Marcus Allen smashed Nicole Simpson. Just looked it up as i was wondering about the reference in the song. for those that don't know, OJ was Marcus OG from USC. OJ is 13 years older. Both played runningback, wore #32 and won the Heisman Trophy. Both running styles were mad similar too!
It's about time lol
Sherbet is a type of powdered candy. It usually comes in a foil packet with a lollipop to dip
it was great to be 17 in 99
i like your reaction bro.
Sonny Bono hit a tree coming down a ski slope. "I hit the trees harder than Sonny Bono."
The line is funny but its messed up
Me and Marcus Allen went over to see Nicole, (Nicole Brown Simpson wife of OJ Simpson) When we heard a knock at the door, must've been Ron Gold (Ron Goldman, who was Nicole’s best friend)
Jumped behind the door, put the orgy on hold
Killed them both, then smeared blood on the white Bronco (we did it) basically saying Ron Goldman was knocking at the door while Em and his friend was running a train on her so they hid behind the door as he came in, and incriminated OJ by smearing the blood on the white Bronco which was the getaway car that OJ had in the infamous chase scene on the highway with. The adlibs of “We Did It” was him confessing 😂😂😂😂😂😂
1 of the best Em songs
"Scarier than a white person trapped in a room with Lauryn Hill, human horror film" Was the line, I think. And yeah, that was all around the time Lauryn wasn't doing too good mentally and she went on some rant about her hatred for white men or some shit lol.
damn i have the other version of this song on album where he says " me and dave were buttfkn nichole when we heard a knock on the door"
He was so dope back then
I love Em, but can't say he was the first to say things and when you ask 'who says things like this in a rap song', i suggest you review the first Ol' Dirty Bastard album Return to the 36 Chambers lol. I'm sure ODB was a huge influence for Eminem
Sherbert is like ice cream but fruity.
Man, you postin daily!
Sonny was skiing and hit a tree
This has a video that’s pretty good too.
Bad meets evil the 1st with him and Royce its a hip hop ghost story
Peace King. What happened to the video version?
It’s funny you mention Danny Brown cuz he said he was heavily influenced by Em and that’s how he got some of his style
Are you going to react to Coast Contra "Breathe and Stop" freestyle?
I really hope you stay West Coast for a long while
Your next reaction video should be trying Sherbet (sherbert). You bout to be in luuuuv. Lol
I just realized the thermometer in your mom is obvious he got it on with her line is because he's sick. That's dope.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
He mentions cage. Which claims Eminem bitted his style. I recommend reviewing the album movies for the blind..
Sherbet is like a icy , ice cream.
Given your age your ear for these references is outstanding! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
his best album
Nah. Eminem Sow, The Marshall Mathers LP
“I ripped her fuckin tonsils and fed her sherbet” 😂 an amazing line. Sherbet is a popular ice cream flavor, usually consisting of orange, raspberry and lime. I always took the line as a lot of the time after you get your tonsils removed the doctor will recommend ice cream because it’s soft. See em is helping Hillary out 💀
Rap God 🔥🔥🔥🔥
DOPEST
His whole thing is topical reference punchlines, but I fucked with it at the time. It had a time and a place
Cage was another white rapper who was known for having a similar style to Em, and the two of them would battle. Cage claimed that Em stole his flow and cadence so he could go mainstream and wanted a battle to end it all. Em and Cage were gonna battle but Em decided to play a concert instead so the beef went unfinished. So em saying "i bough cages tape opened it and dubbed over it" that shit is hard af.
sonny bono hit a tree and died while skiing... eminem said he "hits more trees than sono bono"
/I hit the trees harder then Sonny Bono/
Sonny Bono was an old singer that died when he skied into a tree.
And sherbert ( I'm spelling that wrong) is kinda like ice cream kinda
Check out Eminem “Rock bottom” say album as this
Sherbert: ice cream but made of juice. Commonly given to patients who toncils were removed to soothe the pain.
u should react to his song "campaign speech"
Yeah and he was like 29 or 30 when he blew up so he used older references
Sherbet is Ice Cream my man
