"Genes load the gun but environment pulls the trigger." Colin Campbell, PhD is credited with this statement. You'll find it in his book, The China Study.

Fasting mimicking diet utilizes "metabolic flexibility". I lost 50 lbs of body fat prior to starting chemo. I used a carnivore diet to maintain nutritional ketosis allowing my own body fat to create the ketosis. I had zero nausea or vomiting and the majority of side effects came from the dexmethazone pills afterwards. I stopped both pills since I did not have a need for them. I monitored my own blood tests. 2 infusions were canceled because of low WBC and platelets counts. I had an active tooth abcess and resolved it with a root canal. The second delay was because of "emetic risk". I fixed my WBC and platelets through nutrition, but noticed before my 5th infusion my RBC was low and my RDW% was high. This is the definition of megaloblastic anemia! I have remedied this condition with folate and B12 supplementation. Exercise is great, but only proper epigenetic nutrition repairs the blood. I have the MTHFR mutation and the folate and B12 are the intervention.

I like those exercise snacks. I walk but don’t do any strength training but I could totally do a few reps of the 3 in the slide (dumbbell row, press, squat). Easy to remember and digest thanks!

Ah a tip on exercise snacks... I use the free version of Duolingo, I used to get frustrated by the frequency of adverts. Now I use them as prompts to do various physio exercises and stretches.... I also sit on large exercise ball instead of chair at my desk so I'm often mobile/ engaging core ... Didn't stop my colon cancer diagnosis, however seem to be recovering well after surgery...

People who exercise tend to eat a lot healthier than sedentary people, does diet cause some of the reduction?

Could be because muscles are a glucose sink. Cancer cells live on it, but more muscle mass soaks it up first, thereby depriving the cancer of fuel.
      Just my layperson hypothesis.

Thank you! On prostate cancer, I recall a presentation some years ago which indicated that exericise was protective, in part part due to upregulatiing p53. So puzzled by that. will have to go back and dig that study up.

Fast search (5 min max). Here’s two:
      J. Appl Physiol, Feb 2004: “...present study tests the hypothesis that these effects on tumor cell lines are mediated by enhancement of the function of the p53 gene known to arrest cell growth and induce apoptosis.
...results indicate that exercise training alters serum factors in vivo that increase cellular p53 protein content and is associated with reduced growth and induced apoptosis in LNCaP prostate cancer cells in vitro.” (In test tube)
PLoS One. Aug 2016: “...current study demonstrated the effects of exercise on p53-related IGF-1 signaling regulators with respect to potential cancer preventive mechanisms.” (Mice used to study skin cancer.)

You are explaining why the current treatment for cancer is completely ineffective. Exercise is a good start. Food should be the next.
