I'm an SQ newb and I'm flying blind doing if trial n error absorbing whatever I can wherever. And I have another hurdle of I can't afford high end equipment. I have to try n find the products that fight over there weight class. I can say one thing that has surprised me the most is the increased SQ that comes with excessive headroom. I have 2 15" subs rated at 1500wrms each and I started out with a 1.2k amp went to a 2k and now a 5k and each time at lower volumes I noticed a significant increase in overall sound quality. They just sounded fuller and alive or more dynamic? When I thought they were fine at each step. Next I'll be upgrading the amps for my mids and highs. At the moment my front has 2 budget A/b amps tweets and mids on a 40w+ x4 and the 6.5s are on a 50w+ x4 bridged. They sound decent but even my abused 49 year old ears hear the sound degrade at higher volumes. Its hard to imagine tweeters and 4" mids need more than 40w amp but hey why not give them headroom, but the doors could definitely use some headroom I use a Dayton 408 and I like it but I have bad noise issues even with filters on RCA's and power wires, but a a RUclipsr named nateO gave me a tip to wire in a 12v to 120v inverter and use the 408's AC power adapter,, I ran extension cord to the dsp and with vehicle running whahlah no noise so hopefully an inverter does the same.. Seems like bandaid hack but if it works so be it, that will get me by untill I have the funds to upgrade the dsp someday once I am content with what subwoofers I'm using which I never am no matter how good they work, so now Ive been building my own subs, you can invest 50% less expense while still incorporate features that would only be features in high end retail subwoofers like Faraday/shorting rings, shorting, sleeves excessive cooling better coils so on. I can build a $1000+ sub for under $500 because I'm not paying for high dollar facilities infrastructure and advertising like paying $1300+ for JL's 13" W series subwoofer, its nothing ground breaking, nothing special other than it's p.i.t.a. steel band that holds the surround down for more cone area... and actually an old out dated design $500 value tops, it's that dust cap that drives the price up another $800...
I’m still smiling. I drove up to Sheffield and back at the weekend 7.5h round trip. I think it’s a bit bright sounding and lacks a bit of warmth. But that is down to the limits of the system not the tuning. I still put it back to memory A sometimes just to remind me how bad it really was. 😂 I will get to a meeting when I’m free.
Hey, I asked you about some focal bmw speakers on RUclips a while a go. You answered really quick to my surprice, so I am hoping you can help me now. I have a match up 7 dsp that i just installed a Bluetooth card in. I also have a director. My problem is to actually pair my phone to the dsp. It shows up in the dsp program but not in my Bluetooth on my phone.
i have everything but a dsp. i have a great selection of amps and midbass drivers to test. i dont know what other good dsp's there are besides zapco and helix. i have a surf board 6 channel zapco. love there gear but not looking to drop 1k on a dsp. my alpine 7995 head unit is amazing and does have some options but its not a separate dsp.
I’m currently using a Rockford Fosgate DSR-1. It’s got an mobile app interface that you connect to using your phones Bluetooth. I’d rate it as being effective and affordable at about $250. I’m running three way active front stage with a single 10’’ sub (though it could handle two subs). I don’t feel limited at all by it versus slightly nicer/more expensive options. so it may be worth a look for you. Good luck 👍🏻
Yes, Helix DSP.3 or the Zapco Z8-IV II are both great and not mega money. Zapco comes with controller and BT module as standard, while with Helix everything is an add-on, so don’t get caught on the base price.
ah, thats a good point with the zapco dsp. @Pssound . last time i looked at pricing was awhile ago. they might have been inflated or just come down a bit. i am seeing more dsp's available now. pricing is all over the place depending where you buy.
Hey Peter, just curious is that certain audible physics speakers are not available or are you guys having a difficult time in obtaining Audible physics as a whole?
@@drrckhamilton it’s difficult to bring in a new brand to the small UK market, especially when you need to import from the opposite corner of the planet. The brand’s marketing strategy didn’t help either and slowly by slowly as the interest was also dropping, the distribution stopped as it was not viable from business point of view.
You could have a Stradivarius, but if you don't know how to play it ? what's the point right? think of it like confectionaries and desserts. There is a lot more than just adding sugar.
I can't wait to drive down with mine for a tuning session😎
Peter is the GOAT!
Thank you again peter, another great video, maybe should call it the” PS sound smile”
Love your stuff man!
Peter When I have time to finish my little install I am coming for a tune
Do it you won’t regret it
Nice ... great to hear from fellow enthusiasts
"The right speaker in the right location" NAILED IT!
But what about the left speaker ?
That needs the left location ofcourse xD
First like!… love tunning sesions!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Tweaking the spectral balance to make it suit your taste a bit better takes me 15mins, so feel free to pop in! 😉
Hey Peter, do you have more information about the used LED controller and 5V LED regulator ?
'The Smile' the reason we do what we do......

Hello! AB Class or D Class amplifier is better for subwoofer? SQ .THX
Most people can’t notice the difference, power supply and headroom of clean power are more important.

Oh wow, that's a bummer. I have only heard good things about them.

That’s a good one! 💪😃
What program do you use to tune?
Check the Tuning playlist, you can see everything there. 👍
