When I was younger my family would visit family in Oklahoma every year or two, and we would see a native American woman in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma that would do eye reading. At the time she didn't charge for the reading because she sold natural supplements, so it was expected you would take the list of recommended supplements she gave you and buy them from her store. She didn't use pictures or bright lights, or take any kind of history. You just sat on a stool in front of her and she stared at your eyes, and she would tell you about your physical health. (She never dove into your personality or anything similar like this woman does). The first time I saw her she knew I had a large bone that was only recently healed from a break. When I visited her a bit later in life, she knew I had endometriosis. It was absolutely fascinating and it always gave me the most intense ASMR response too so I always wanted to go see her as soon as we got to Oklahoma lol

It’s not Melissa’s job to educate or convince you of something - she just wants to provide relaxation and a source for asmr. Funnily enough, the experiences that are the most controversial (reiki, alternative medicine etc) are also some of the most relaxing/ popular. So take it with a pinch of salt and avoid videos that don’t appeal to you ◡̈

It sure isn’t her job but that’s kind of what she’s doing isn’t it, when she uploads a video like this and says in her description she uploads videos ‘with the intention to help people destress, relax and LEARN’. The comments are full of people who think they are learning something and might take it seriously. It’s really fine to question that, especially with some of the outrageous statements made in this video..

My immediate thought, from an objective business perspective, is I think her practice would benefit from a larger second monitor for her clients to look at their eyeball pictures on! I think it would be more comfortable than peering over her shoulder at a poor angle for screen glare. Love her voice and the paper shuffling and mouse clicking and quiet examination of the screen!!

There are far too many comments with the gist that "what if someone sees this and starts believing it's true". I dont watch a men's suit fitting ASMR and start believing I'm a man. Nor do I watch alien abduction ASMR videos and start thinking aliens exist. Melissa is providing relaxing content, she is not claiming that any of these treatments should be considered truth. It's hardly her fault if you aren't able to separate it.

@@CatastrophicCupcakee You and I, and most people watching these vids, can figure out what's real and what's not. I sometimes watch these vids to relax, but these quacks prey on vulnerable and desperate people and take money from them to tell them what they want to hear and often give them false hope. Or, more worryingly, they give medical advice with no medical degree. It's dangerous. They're professional charlatans and thieves. I understand why people get upset and call it out. People are calling out the woman's nonsense and not blaming Melissa anyway, so I don't know where you've got that from? That's not meant to be horrible, I just genuinely don't see anyone blaming Melissa.

@@TheycallmeMrWonkawhat part of a video posted for the purpose of relaxation and that makes no claims about the validity or legitimacy of anything in it is the appropriate place for honest discourse?
People aren’t here being brainwashed into joining a cult or something. People are watching these videos because people that practice these weird kinds of alternative therapies tend to speak in a very calm and relaxing voice. It doesn’t matter what they’re saying, it’s the way they say it. I’m sorry, but I don’t think the people watching these videos are invested in the beliefs behind the practices. It’s just relaxing. And coming into a space that people are using for relaxation and trying to start ‘honest’ discourse about the practices is like walking into a church during service and declaring that you don’t believe in god and that everyone there needs to listen to why.
Sure, discussion about religion and religious values is good, but there’s a time and place for it. This isn’t the place for discussing how legitimate the practices in these videos are. People watching just want to relax, it’s not the right place for that talk. A video of someone promoting essential oils curing cancer? Yeah, go off, that’s exactly the place that discussion needs to happen. Not here. Because people here aren’t falling for bullshit.
Just cause we’re not in a physical room together doesn’t mean that the concept of ‘reading the room’ no longer applies. Read comments from the people that enjoy these videos and you’ll just see talk of how relaxing they are.

When you were discussing your periods it made me so sad that 50% of the human race between the ages of 12 -55 (ish) have to endure days of pain every month and no one seems to think that it's wrong. I'm in my 60s now but I still remember awful days filled with miserable pain, but still having to carry on working etc. Anyway, thanks again for showing this, it's a good watch and is helping my insomnia!

For me personally the disclaimer on the video is a good decision and it shows a responsible mindset from you. People generally don't look into the descriptions for videos unless they have a good reason and the random youtube traffic that might pop by is even less likely to do it. I think there will still be comments taking issues but hopefully less so as time goes by. I legitimately see no issue with disclaimered videos and if people do say that you shouldnt upload videos like this at all then they are not being reasonable.

I remember my Mum and her friends seeing an iridologist back in the 80s. They used to call him the "color man". He did color therapy and examined their eyes also. I was always intrigued by it as a small boy.

She reminds me so much of the person that read Melanies palm, they both say "erm", "let me see" and "that sort of thing" a lot. They both ask very leading questions and you can see them making it up on thd spot. As long as people realise this is entertainment only. 😅

Eeeeek, SO excited to watch this one. Not for ASMR but for the Iridology. Most think it’s quack as crack, but as for me, it helped my husband (and myself) tremendously. Again, SO excited for this one!!!!!

Cats with freckles may actually have eye cancer and it should be checked out by a vet if it ever changes in size - if it remains consistent it may be a sign they poked their eye and it healed. I wouldn’t recomend going to a vet to get it looked at unless it changes as the biopsy demands the eye be removed. While cats do well with blindness if the freckle doesn’t change it shouldn’t be a cause of concern

@NamaeSEL what? You should chew your food though... it's how your body is designed. Maybe not 35 times but it's not healthy to swallow actual pieces of food. Chewing, the mouth and salive are the first step of the digestive system. Saliva does have certain "chemicals" in it to start breaking down your food.
