Great video! You mentioned that you thought German was a harsh language. I used to think so too but since I’ve started studying more German poetry and classical music (because I am an opera singer) and what I’ve noticed is the consonants clusters and glottal fricatives can actually be extremely beautiful. Where as in French or Italian singing the language really suits a very smooth singing of the language, German allows you to really chew each word and get every last drop out out the meaning of the lyrics you’re singing. Would love to hear what people think of this!
I have to point out Lorenz's 20 second solo on the synth from 4:52 to 5:12 , it's a perfect 5 second cycle but he puts so much motion and energy into along with the drums adding to the beat, along with the theme of the stage just makes it a perfect performance
One thing that the video can't convey is that you can feel *all* of that fire in the audience. Even in the upper balcony of a stadium. I got to see them perform a few years back and it was honestly one of the most intense experiences of my life.
im not sure if there is any band out there with such intense Pyrotech in the live shows. Alot to look forward to if you like to react to some more Rammstein. Like always fun to watch and i love your Explanation to the Techs the Singers use. Enjoy your Day.
I found this video randomly. I don't you how good you understand German, but what I always love about tills singing, besides the things you mentioned, is his clear pronounciation. We Germans tend to miss the endings of our word. He speaks every word as clear as a teacher would. Love this.
I saw them live in Montreal, to this date. It was the best concert I have seen to date. They put on such an incredible performance. They were planned to be part of an outdoors concert this year before the pandemic. It would of been insane what all they couldve done with pyrotechnics and everything else being outdoors.

You would be right that his singing is untrained. He kind of learned through his own experience, but his deep almost baritone voice sets him apart from most singers. His rythmic breathing probably comes from his experience as a swimmer. He is an interesting fellow to say the least.
@@hectorvegasduque2234 he's a baritone. That bass note he's constantly hitting is a D2. If he was a bass, he'd probably go even lower to sound even cooler and kinda creepier

"Low and powerful, and it sounds untrained, but yet it is so commanding that you can't help but be like … crap, what is going on here?" German language in a nutshell. :D
absolute nonsense. Any language can sound like anything, depending on what is being said. Even Rammstein has some lovely songs where the singing does not sound harsh at all, Ohne Dich for example. Engel isn't particularly harsh ether. The female choir certainly does not sound harsh or commanding, does it?
@@gulliverthegullible6667 As I German I both agree and disagree. German doesn't sound angry or harsh per se, but it certainly can. More so than many other languages. Some languages can just be a bit more dimensional. I love the expressiveness and feel that can be added by rolling Rs, and sharp sounds like t, p, k or something like the hebrew throat 'ch' sounds. Slavic / Russian languages, German, and skandinavian languages have lots of those elements too. Love lots of swedish songs. With German itself, I really like the dialects with the rolling Rs like baverian and austrian, others like the saxony accent much less so :p

I heard that Rammstein uses enough fuel in their pyrotechnics for a short airplane flight in a single show. I don't know if that's true or not, but that's what I remember hearing.
I had the privilege to work with the people in charge of the pyrotechnics. They really don't work with fuel! It depends on the effect. Most of it is gas (not liquid fuel!), black/gun powder and for the body near flamethrower, they use a special kind of tree pollen. That's often a safety issue in the venues. The tree pollen is much safer than fuel because it burns faster and most importantly it does not leave critical residues. The guy told me that Rammstein buys most of the special tree pollen which is available in the whole world at the start of a tour!

When you're in the audience at a Rammstein concert, you can feel all the flames. And let me tell you, they are SUPER hot.
I can't imagine how extreme it must be on stage, right next to the flame-throwers.
As for german: we can sound quite nice...sometimes :P
Right in front of the stage it's quite luxurious, because of the liquid gas they use to cool down the audience ;)
I was at a Kiss concert in June and the flames were hot, now imagine Rammstein where they use loads more fire
@@PreciselyTuned sweating ppl all around you, not really sexy but I would do it again and again :D
I was at first row of last year's tour. Was sweating until flames burst. They dried off the sweat of my face.
Agreed, standing in the crowd at a Rammstein show is incredibly hot! In addition the stage is already very hot without any pyro because of all the lighting, so adding these together, well fcuk
Can't wait to see her reacting to Rammsteins "Ich tu dir weh", one of the songs where Till really... SINGS!
ulli_ulli my favourite!!

@@BethRoars Awesome video... ;) Did you - by any chance - read a translation of the german lyrics after you made your reaction video?? You really should try to understand the lyrics, because the way why he sings in these different styles would make so much more sense for you I guess ;) Just a hint: He sings from the perspective of a sadist how finds (sexual) pleasure in hurting someone who is a masochist.. who ends up with rodents in his colon.
Its playback.
Im from Germany and he is rolling the R in a very extreme way. You did that maybe like 70+ years ago in some regions in Germany
Fynn Gattermann Yeah, he’s exaggerating his Rs for more impact...
I'm actually learning German (funny enough, because of Rammstein) and from what I've heard, the rolled "r"s are still occasionally used in dramatic stage shows to add a little something to the performance.
don't some austrians do that?
Exagera la R porque le da un toque sexy, es muy grr eso 😍 depende claro como pero a él le resulta de maravillas
Zarah Leander did that too in a rather profound way.
It seems like he sang Engel as the finale to the concert... he seemed like he was pretty exhausted at that point. You really should listen and react to Ohne Dich, and
Mein Herz Brennt Piano Version; those two song express how excellent his singing voice really is IMO
ruclips.net/video/Dv6Th7kJ64Q/видео.html
Yes Engel was the final song for each show on this tour. So he had done a full 2 hour set prior to this track.
Seconding Ohne Dich! Anyone who thinks he can't sing needs to hear it.
@@cletusbeauregard1972 the man can sing. Very well too. One thing with Till is that he has been consistently good over the years. His voice is still incredible now. As good as it has ever been in my view.
Definitely Ohne dich!

Thats a really good point about drummer vocalists. Never thought of that. You can hear a similar thing in some of Johnathan Davis' (Korn) earlier songs

Till started singing and I immediately got goosebumps. Saw Rammstein last year Love for the first time and i will Never forget it since it was one of the best days of my life
It's been almost 30 years and you can see how much they still enjoy performing, I love it.
"It must be hot." - Yeah, I think by now bathing in fire is like bathing in water for him as they always have so much fire on the stage
Yeah lol sparks flames and more every time I've seen them.
@@ToolofSociety well their budget for pyrotechnics increased quite a bit in the last years
He used to be an Olympic swimmer so he would know what water is like. :-)
But yes, I think he's a certified pyrotechnical himself.
In early years he actually 'set himself on fire', so this is all child's play for him.
@@minzwaffel337 I just realized the last time I saw them was over 14 years ago.
The first time I saw them was in 98 and they had pyrotechnics galore. Thought for sure something was going to catch fire that wasn't planned. It's a testament to their skills and discipline that they have been doing this for decades without a major injury.
I discovered them via the lost highway soundtrack :)
For sure, there's a song, I forget which one where he wears a chainmail coat that they set on fire.
Who voted for this to show him of as a vocalist? So many brilliant songs showing his actual vocal skills and people voted this?!
Probably people who thought any other song by them would scare her away.... But.... Like, It's Rammstein.. pure musical art. (And visual, both live in shows and in music videos..) The intention of metal is not for shock value or to frighten.. It's to portray emotion in a powerful way. But I can understand the reasoning by seeing, myself, how others react to metal in such a way that to them the planet has nothing more evil or frightening to behold... This woman clearly lives life with open eyes (and ears). I agree that there are far better examples. And too many to list right here.
@@_M_a_r_t_i_n_M like the manson request of sweet dreams...its like they wanna give her the shock factor haha

??? Engel isn't one of my favorites but its not like till does a bad job on it.
I'd think English would also sound harsh to people who don't speak English.
think about ode to joy in German beautiful!
I have to point out Lorenz's 20 second solo on the synth from 4:52 to 5:12 , it's a perfect 5 second cycle but he puts so much motion and energy into along with the drums adding to the beat, along with the theme of the stage just makes it a perfect performance
OFC his wings are on fire.. :D Till Lindemann is in fact a trained pyrotechnician
Rammstein do have the most beautiful stage performances ..
One thing that the video can't convey is that you can feel *all* of that fire in the audience. Even in the upper balcony of a stadium. I got to see them perform a few years back and it was honestly one of the most intense experiences of my life.
I love the way Beth keep being cute while reacting to Rammstein
She's always cute
And then starts some shy headbanging 😀

he came up with the idea of having an treadmill cos he thought he looked too still and boring behind the keyboards + he gets a good exercise xD
Flames shooting out of everywhere, and the band is like, "Just another Tuesday night...". Love Rammstein. 👍
He’s literally saying „God is aware I don’t want to be an angel“ also Rammstein is known for their effects I absolutely love them
Engel was a really weird choice of song for this, I would have suggested something more like Morgenstern or Frühling in Paris
I mean the vote could have been du hast im glad that it's engel
Morgernstern! Klavier as well
On the other hand, Engel is a very good song.
Fruhling In Paris would be a good one, he can really hold the notes on that one
im not sure if there is any band out there with such intense Pyrotech in the live shows. Alot to look forward to if you like to react to some more Rammstein. Like always fun to watch and i love your Explanation to the Techs the Singers use. Enjoy your Day.
Huh.... Kiss?
Till even got a degree in pyrotechnics to be more informed about the useage and to be legally allowed to use the gadgets and all that.
Mara Elayne The Trans-Siberian Orchestra uses a ton of pyrotechnics in their stage shows as well.
Lordi include lots of Pyro as well, quite apart from all the other insane stuff.

I found this video randomly. I don't you how good you understand German, but what I always love about tills singing, besides the things you mentioned, is his clear pronounciation. We Germans tend to miss the endings of our word. He speaks every word as clear as a teacher would. Love this.
I'm seeing them live on the 6th, I CANT WAIT!
I saw them live in Montreal, to this date. It was the best concert I have seen to date. They put on such an incredible performance. They were planned to be part of an outdoors concert this year before the pandemic. It would of been insane what all they couldve done with pyrotechnics and everything else being outdoors.
I waited for u reacting to Rammstein :) He has such a distinctive voice and great lyrics, too. Really an exceptional band, plus the great stage performance. Have u ever heard him during an interview tho? Its such a difference. :)
Thank you for your great reaction :)
yes there is another youtuber that does German lessons who breaks down Lindemann's acting voice versus his spoken and mentions the rolling R's (which Beth mentioned) and very breathy vowels--apparently it's a kind of German theater "accent" or method.
I'm going to see them live in San Antonio, TX for the first time ever later this year! I can't wait!!!!

And I'm going to see them live for the third time this summer in Düsseldorf, Germany.

I saw them on this tour! It was insane! We were maybe 50ft from the stage and we were sweating from the pyro.
Maybe you’ll decide to do a second reaction on Rammstein. “Mein Herz brennt” , “Rosenrot” or “Ohne Dich” would have been so soo much better
:( his vocals ware really really nice in those songs.
I have tickets for their show in a few months, I really hope it doesn't get cancelled because of Corona

So glad you've finally taken the time to check out this song by Rammstein.
Saw them back in like 01 or 02 and they opened up with “Rammstein”. During the whole song he wore this full length cloak with a hood. At some point during the song the cloak was on fire when he was singing. It was great. Their whole show was fire everywhere. He shot this bow and arrow that was also on fire.
I read somewhere that his pyrotechnic wings weigh about 50 kilos. I don't know if this is true, but it would explain his somewhat heavy step at the beginning and the slightly bent forward position.
I'm from Germany and 16 years old I listen to Rammstein for the last idk 8 years and when I listen to Rammstein I feel it and love it but her reaction is awesome 😂👍🏻 never seen reactions like this.

That is a great song, plus Radio
I agree, the song Deutschland is a very powerful and moving art performance when listened to while watching the music video. But one must be German or at least very familiar with German history (especially modern) to truly understand. Far too many don't understand, and many who do understand do not understand how to appreciate it for what it is. ---- I would, though, love to see a reaction from this woman on that though, she seems to have a good head on her shoulders.

the sound of your videos is AWESOME!
I love your personality! Your smile and laugh really shine through. Subscribed and can’t wait to watch more.
fun fact: TIl is a licensed pyrotechnic and does most of the planning and execution of the pyro too. thats why hes so comfortable with flamethrowers strapped to him every show
Tyler Chrise he doesn’t do the execution part. At least not anymore, trust me the band has a dedicated and highly specialized crew for that stuff now. It’s pretty interesting to look into though for sure
Not the best song to pick for his vocals. This is at the end of the whole concert and those wings on his back weigh 50kg.
You would be right that his singing is untrained. He kind of learned through his own experience, but his deep almost baritone voice sets him apart from most singers. His rythmic breathing probably comes from his experience as a swimmer. He is an interesting fellow to say the least.
Almost baritone? I would say I almost bass
@@hectorvegasduque2234 he's a baritone. That bass note he's constantly hitting is a D2. If he was a bass, he'd probably go even lower to sound even cooler and kinda creepier

"Low and powerful, and it sounds untrained, but yet it is so commanding that you can't help but be like … crap, what is going on here?"
German language in a nutshell. :D
absolute nonsense. Any language can sound like anything, depending on what is being said. Even Rammstein has some lovely songs where the singing does not sound harsh at all, Ohne Dich for example. Engel isn't particularly harsh ether. The female choir certainly does not sound harsh or commanding, does it?
Gulliver the Gullible seeman too
Nah, German can sound really soft, just as many other languages can sound harsh.
This is what people all over the world think how German sounds while it most of the time doesn't. You know 1945 is over this joke is getting old.
I've always loved Tills operatic vocals he's pretty much my favorite next to Kirk Windstein from Crowbar. One or my favorite songs were he sings in a operatic fashion is Raise Raise. very powerful song also Ohne Dich is also really good. Another band I always thought that was unique is Ruoska I like them pretty much for the same reason I love Rammstein the vocals does stand out in some way. Although people say he sounds similar to Till I think he sounds closer to the lead from Metsatöll.
I am to attend the Sept 26 th concert in Mexico City, my first for Rammstein. This vid makes it even more exciting. I cannot wait!
His voice is like nature itself. Like ocean that any moment can turn into a tsunami wave. And some notes remind of ice cracking and roaring of waters coming free. Raw and almost uncontrolled and uncontrollable.

Check out their performance of Rammlied, when he has a damn hole in his cheek to accommodate the light inside his mouth. I can't imagine how much more difficult that makes singing.
It’s just a wire in the corner of his mouth going to the roof of his mouth. You make it sound like he had surgery.
@@mrfclarke For the live performances of Rammlied, that is correct. The commenter above might be confusing that with the music video they did for the song Ich Tu Dir Weh, in which Till _did_ have a hole surgically cut into his cheek to connect a wire attached to his clothes to the LED in his mouth.

What I speculate makes him able to sing his deep tones and hold them for a while is the fact that he used to be a professional swimmer. Now I don't know if he still swims or how the body reacts if he does no longer swim, however I think his lung volume is potentially larger than your average person's.
Never heard of that but I was a swimmer as well and can go low... Not like Till but interesting
He ripped a muscle swimming i read
What does lung capacity have to do with how deep your voice is? It's all about the size of your vocal folds as far as I know.
@@pakkazull8370 I think he means that he can hold even with the wings these notes quite long.

I heard that Rammstein uses enough fuel in their pyrotechnics for a short airplane flight in a single show. I don't know if that's true or not, but that's what I remember hearing.
457jinzo I don’t think that’s true, that would be waaay way too much fuel. Way too much. But they need their own power-generator.
Rammstein is also the biggest purchaser of lycopodium, using about one third of the world's harvest.
