    Jake Walman has easily become my favorite player, the skill in the offensive zone and defensive zone is there, he's young, he's physical, he's got emotion and heart, and ofc he did the griddy. I love that inside cut move he makes, he's a beauty!

      Hell yeah!.. do you try to implement that move in your game now?

    his stutter steps at the blue line are just top tier. making some of the best dudes in the nhl look like clowns

      Yea, they are similar to Steph Curry type head fakes / crossovers at the three-point line😅

    The Red Wings most interesting player if you ask me. Hoping him and Seider can build even more chemistry together next year. They looked really good together.

    Last off season, Walman and the Red Wings almost went to arbitration. Now, he's our top D pair with Seider 🤣

      @@moappleseider1699 I didn't really know anything about him when he went, so all I had to look at was his stats at that point, and he didn't seem to crack anyone's lineup. It seemed he was asking a lot for not appearing to show a lot. I'm very happy to have had him shut me up.

    What a perfect defence pair Detroits got.
    Seider:
    Hits hard
    Punishes players trying to check him
    Blocks shots
    Fantastic passer
    Big body
    Good hands
    Walman:
    Great edge work
    Rocket shot
    Great passer
    Likes to jump in on the play while also being the first man back
    Loves to block passes
    It’s actually incredibly just how much Walman reminds me of Duncan Keith. He’s like a carbon copy even if he does lack the incredible senses Keith had. The way he skates, the way he takes away passing lanes, and the way he creates offence is just staggering to me. And Mo Seider is just in a league of his own. For a defencemen to be a good as a puck mover as he is while have Shea Weber levels of strength is just nuts.
    Detroit has a bright future on the defence, and with players like Edvinsson who is also a massive defencemen with amazing skating legs and passing skills coming up soon, as well as Pellika is is much the same but he’s also got a deadly wrister.
    As for offence, with players like Raymond, Larkin, Copp, and now DeBrincat leading the core I see no reason why their offence wouldn’t be a powerhouse as well.
    They may not be a team who scores a ton of goals, but man, they will be one awesome two way team with goalie tandem that can split a season 50/50. I look forward to watching them, it’s gonna be good.

    Imagine how good Seider's season would've been if he wasn't lumbered with Ben Shiterot for most of the season. He and Walman looked good together. Not sure I want Walman as the top line D Man for the long term though.

    • @icedo1013
      @icedo1013 Год назад +3

      If you keep him and Seider together to continue building their chemistry, and you get Edvinsson and another guy he clicks well with, you're looking at two potential top pair D lines. Maybe load up and put Mo/Ed (or insert your ideal top line pairing here) on a PP line, but keeping them separate balances the load and makes your defensive corps at least twice as deep.

    How exactly do you collect all of the defensive plays? I think it's really important for these videos and shows that players like Walman aren't just defensemen who play like forwards, but defensive plays don't show up on the score sheet. Do you have a way of combing through the games after they've aired? I can't help but wonder how many defensive plays you could highlight for a guy like Chiarot, even though no one wants to see a video for him

    • @awood40
      @awood40  Год назад +11

      When I take notes during live games for my game highlight videos, I write down something next to the timestamp for plays I might use in another video. For example, 1548 WD, which = Walman defense at 1548 of whatever period.
      Goals are obviously easy to find, but I keep track of extra replays, big hits/saves, defensive plays, scoring chances etc. With the exception of hits & saves, I don't do this for every player, just the ones I feel might get a video at season's end. Walman surprised me a little bit, I started paying closer attention to his game once he was paired up with Seider.
