I learned an amzing tip from you, use a tee so your clubs don't get wet. Genius!

I like the unspoken tip of putting a tee in the ground to rest your club on and avoid getting the grip wet. Never thought of that!

It took me going to the DR everyday for ten years before I really got my act together for hitting the ball straight and over 300 yards. Statistically professionals only hit the green 70% of the time on the PGA tour. Thus, their is a technique for hitting it long and straight and ultimately it has to be done for men or women. Anybody can learn to chip and putt but not everyone can drive the ball. Unfortunately for the professional, golf is a game of distance. I say unfortunately because most people are not professionals and they still want to hit it long. EGOs aside playing it FORWARD is the best answer for amateurs. The real challenge is final score not hole by hole. Your advice is always so interesting. I am working with the idea of increasing the hole size from 4 to 6 inches for the very reasons listed above (so hope you approve if you ever get a chance to read comments). GBG NO EDITS.

Loving your videos Gen, you a true inspiration! I try and watch at least a few minutes of one of your videos before I head out to the course, just to have something in mind that I should focus on every time I play. Following this approach last year, got my handicap down by 6 strokes, and aiming for a further reduction this year, maybe 3-4 strokes but really need the UK to get some decent weather! Thanks again 😀

excellent advice Gen. I totally agree with what you said about there being so much out there and you can only control yourself. Last season I was having a great round, very relaxed, 8 pars through the first 10 holes. Hole 11, a downhill par 3, 162m, I´d selected a 7 iron because it´s what i´ve played before. Then another player zapped the flag with his range finder (I dont use one at all) and said it was playing 138 with the slope. This led to indecision for me. I changed clubs to an 8 iron, then started over assessing the effect of the wind, which was at about 7m/s off the left, and tried to hit a draw to compensate for the wind. I got the draw ok because I had to hit it flat out, but the wind never touched it because of the high trees, so I ended up in the pond beyond the trees. result, a double after a drop. Whereas If I´d stayed with the 7 I wouldn´t have been hitting it so hard and would have gone straight at the green, because the bail out on the right is safe. Knowing where your misses are is essential to good course management. As you said, make your decision on what you´re playing before you hit the shot, and stay with it.

Great points. Taking out the ten or so tap-in putts per round will give me 75 strokes that require full concentration. That's 750 seconds or 12 1/2 minutes. If a round is 5 hours, that's 4 hours, 47 1/2 minutes of goofing off and relaxing with my friends. That's a good time. 🤣

I like what you say about reducing margin of error. I feel like an obstacle to that for me is actually knowing my margin of error. Haven't had lessons in the "trackman" area. Maybe that is something a teacher/coach would help with instead of or in addition to just swing changes? When on typical range where I go it seems the balls are reduced distance of varying amounts. I don't think I really know how far my ball should go and on course am just adjusting swing to distance by feel (with not good results) instead of having a swing with "stock" distance for each club.

You should win 🏆 if your making videos like this apply it to yourself so winning 🏆 is a possibility. You really need to add length of the tee and you will have a chance to get to the LPGA. Mental strength is a must.

    • @saufai74
      @saufai74 Год назад

Amen! It’s so funny because green keepers people that know what’s best for the green always try to teach push towards the middle. So many people including pros still lift up. Madness!?!? Lifting can yank the root up and thus the grass dies and you have a dead yellow spot on the green. Please everyone push towards the center and then lightly push down with your putter to flatten the grass.

For good golfers that want to become very good, one thing I can add is to ONLY attempt a shot that you are 100% confident you can hit. No one is forcing you to go for a green over water with your 3 wood.

There is NO difference between a professional and “amateur” golfer
    (I hate that term) 😡
    Golf is a game.
    We have the same goal:
    ☝🏻Advance the ball
☝🏻Get the ball into the little hole.
It’s just that some of us are more skilled, better trained, more well practiced.
I am not comparing myself to so called “professional” golfers. I play the game for the enjoyment of the game itself, and for the quality time with my friends. I am NOT trying to be a “professional”. I am not trying to make a career of it. I am not dependent on it for my well being, or trying to make a living, any more than you are trying to be a doctor, an accountant, a musician, an engineer, or any other “profession”.
Golf is a GAME, and we PLAY it for the sheer enjoyment of it. Life is a balance of career/work, family/friends, education/learning and recreation/health.
For the majority of us, Golf is recreation (and time with friends, and for our health) … not our career. If we don’t enjoy it, we should do something else.
