    I very much appreciate your informative channel. My friend just bought a condo in Las Tarrenas area and I'm coming down for Thanksgiving to see how I feel about living permanently on an island with her. I would not be able to relocate for a year so I want to come visit several times in different seasons. I'm fed up with the political scene in the US that is turning people against each other. I want to enjoy life in my retirement and enjoy the people around me. I enjoy people that are different from me because they bring something exciting and new to my life and hopefully I can bless theirs too. Again I love your videos. Thank you!

    Very interesting how this gentleman has analyzed the Dominican culture and personality ...The foreigners perception of people in this country is like they are from a different planet 😁

    • @EducatedTraveler
      @EducatedTraveler  2 года назад +3

      Most foreigners are very different than Dominicans, and we get treated very differently as well, based on several factors, therefore the coaching tips that I pass on based on years of experience here, are tailored for their optimal survival and enjoyment for their visit or long-term stay - I hope you understand :) Saludos! Hey Mr. T. Loving the videos. Very informative. Question for you that is somewhat unrelated to this video. Do you have any advice or videos or upcoming videos that talk about what currency visitors can use while in the DR. My wife and I will be in PP for a week in December and we can’t find any information about whether we should be carrying US dollars or pesos or both and the ability to use our credit cards (Canadian). While we will be at an all-inclusive, we would like to get out to the local towns like Sosua and visit local restaurants and shops. Any advice? Or could you do a video on this?

    • @EducatedTraveler
      @EducatedTraveler  3 года назад +1

      Hi Anthony! Yes it has been covered before, but for me to remember exactly which one is hard :) So here's my suggestion. At the airport, exchange only enough cash into pesos for the taxi drive as they offer a bad rate (so maybe USD50,-). Have the taxi guy swing by a place where you can exchange at a better rate. i.e. Yesterday I got 56 pesos per USD$. Maybe change USD$500,- yet only carry RD5000, with you on each field trip i.e. Sosua / Cabarete, as that will be plenty, and leave the rest in a safe.
      The cards function in every ATM of which there are plenty of, and some bigger establishments accept them too (even though I would stick to cash if I was you, and only use card in ATM's). I hope that helps. Brgds, Mr. T

      Hi Vanita. It can be done, but (as written in site) for now we have to be involved in the account set-up, so kindly e--mail us at info@educatedtraveler.info and we'll forward you the payment link - after that we'll send you the account access with temporary log-in details (which you'll then change for something permanent). We look forward to your e-mail, cheers, Mr.T

      @@EducatedTraveler I see people moving there every week. Very happy. I go 3 time a year. Love it’ll and people are the best. I am in the U S A a lot to talk about but to talk negative prefer not to talk. More people talk better about DR than people talk negative. Just go to a place can make you happy.
