Just got into flying with vatsim a couple of months ago- controllers at Gatwick always willing to help out and patient. Hope to speak to you soon BAW93!
Prior C1 controller -Toronto FIR - Outstanding job mate. That is a quite a few all looking for clearance at once. Gnd /clearance is a lot harder than people understand, especially when combined on a busy push. Twr is insanely easy compared to your workload here. Over The Pond was always the craziest time I ever had on Vatsim. That will make you pay attention. Keep up the good work. Just enjoy.
Not controlled on VATSIM for years, but thinking of getting back into it now as rating and KK endorsement valid forever. I noticed in your departure list, you have a neat feature where you can mark the call for clearance or push and keep an eye on the sequence and how much time has elapsed since the pilot asked. Is this now standard or is it some customised setup or addon you have? Would like to know how to get that before I reconnect again after all these years
Hi, it is not standard, which is a shame since in situations like this it's so handy. It is called VCH and can be downloaded here: github.com/DrFreas/VCH Hope this helps!
@The VATSIM Controller thanks for taking the time to reply! I've just installed it. Now to pick a good time to jump back into controlling Gatwick after a few years away!
This is really impressive. I use VATSim and IVAO so it is good to see what happens the other side of the mic. Quick question - have you memorised the taxiways? You were giving taxi instructions and I was trying to follow them, but couldn't see them on your screen
The red carpet rule is a rule for taxiing aircraft, in which an aircraft may not cross the route of an already taxiing aircraft at any point. It is called such because the aircraft that is taxiing has been laid a ‘red carpet’ which must not be crossed; if an aircraft wishes to taxi in-front of the aircraft it must wait until it has passed and the red carpet it clear :)
@@kaynub1 I recommend playing an ATC game called Tower!3D Pro. (ON STEAM) It will get you into how ATC works and its singleplayer with AI responses. Just somewhere you can start to try understand how it all works. Please note that the terminology they use is not 100% correct. By that i mean there are ways of saying things a lot easier than the long winded ways you have to. They have a script to follow. Because its AI. whereas if you was speaking from person to person its more easily understandable what the person is telling you. But yeah give it a go!
@@kaynub1 There's a lot of terminology and understanding to get your head around as a complete novice. I think loading up the MFS20 in offline mode, making a flight plan, then flying it using the AI ATC is the best way to start. It's not great, but it'll get you used to the terminology and the phonetic alphabet, help you to understand flight plans, SIDs and STARs, and the UI will guide you through the order of operations (clearance->pushback->taxi etc.) without having to read it out of a textbook.
Hi. I have two questions. How do you check that pilots set squawk mode C? Is "request" column an add-on or I can create it within default settings of Euroscope?
We can see on the strip on the bottom right and if the colour is correct on the list. A combination of those confirms mode C. It is an addon - VCH: github.com/DrFreas/VCH
How the hell do you understand which taxiway is which on that terrible map? The taxiway markings are ridiculously unclear. Why are vatsim airport maps so incredibly difficult to read? That said, your controlling was impeccable. Congrats.
Great video mate, thanks! Slowly building up the courage to get on Vatsim. This helps
A tip that really helped me out when i was starting out is you can always disconnect :)
@@DJclonk I thought about that. So that’s an acceptable option? Theres not a issued of being banned for doing that?

absolutely loved it man. Crazy stuff. Now I understand how it looks on the other side!

Thank you mate. Coming from C1 means a lot. I know some of the crazy things radar has to put up with lol. Thanks :)
The RYR34AM asking readability at 4:40…
How you understood that and gave it a 5 ai’ll never wrap my head around 😂 It just sounded like static
As a controller we get used to these XD
you've should told him that u'v read it like Urdo 😂
impressive work, im still sitting in the waiting list to even begine training
Best of luck!
Jesus this is so impressive! Good job!
You earned a new sub! Keep up the good work!
Welcome aboard!

niice! always wondered what the other side was like.
YEAH, IT'S THE GUY
Wondering why you only have ~100subs . As there is not many I hope this channel will blow soon
Means a lot, thanks. Hopefully we can get more people into the hobby and people interested in flying on VATSIM
@@thevatsimcontroller wish you all best ! Maybe we will meet someday at Gatwick 🤔
Why don’t you do text PDC in the UK?
How do I become an ATC controller for VATSIM? I can't find a straight answer on the internet or in the VATSIM website.
What division/country are you registered in? All websites will have a clear outline of the training process

Thank you! I started with the tags on but when traffic picks up they get in the way. Therefore I turned them off and memorised them all :)
@@thevatsimcontroller fair play. I would be lost without charts
Ur Very good at this. Respect 😂
Just have to ask, at time 0,45 you said something about a breach of the red carpet. What did you mean with that? or

@@thevatsimcontroller Good to know.
Great vid! Any recommendations for getting started from 0 experience into ATC?
Have you flown on the network before? Or completely from scratch?
I have not, I’m not a trained pilot and no experience with that either

Because there are no taxiway markings. We memorise them! Thanks also :)
If a taxiway has holding point J4, J3, ... We can logically guess it's taxiway J
the whole 1:27 minutes trying to recognize the taxiway L 😂
So many people talking over others lol
Welcome to VATSIM lol
