Good video. What use for the efield and manual and light?

The E-Field / Manual / Optical setting selects the source of the frequency reference. We want to lock the instrument to the power system frequency, and you have these 3 ways of doing that.

@@eatechnologyllc2219ok understand, incase we are not setting,is not showing the pd pattern or value?

Also please explain hfct method and where pd occur in HV cables?

For HFCT measurements you place the ct on the ground strap of the HV cables. PD in HV cables will travel along the shielding in the cables and can be measured from the groundstrap. PD in HV cables is typically caused by a void in the insulation, as discharge jumps the gap in the insulation it breaks down the surrounding insulation and eventually leads to failure. eatechnology.com/americas/resources/case-studies-and-white-papers/case-studies/avoid-mv-cable-termination-failures/
Here is an interesting study of cable failure causes.

Why do you need the frequency for in the TEV?

    • @eatechnologyllc2219

In order to draw a phase resolved plot, you must be locked to the power system frequency. Otherwise the pattern will drift left or right and be harder to interpret.
