Hey guys welcome back to the channel! A few weeks back I came across an ad for a catholic meditation and prayer app that was being promoted by none other than David Henrie (Justin from Wizards of Waverly Place lol) and it got me thinking about the other ridiculously random celebrity endorsements that have happened in the past/are still happening today. I'm not kidding when I say they get straight-up strange... like why is Nicki Minaj working with Call of Duty loool
There's everything from Ariana Grande showing up in Fortnite or Ava Max's disaster of a Roblox album release party to Nintendo trying to convince us that Beyonce, Kim Cattrall, Nicole Kidman and Diana Agron all played on the Nintendo DS at one point. Jessie J even had a borderline bizarre series of ads with Cadbury at one point. Katy Perry's iconic Simlish version of Last Friday Night for Sims will always outsell all of these though just so we're clear... I could never forget her.
But I thought we could check out some of my favourite weird celebrity endorsements/commercials that have happened over the years in today's video. Obviously, there's no shortage of strange celebrity commercials so I definitely missed out on some stuff so feel free to share any personal favourites you have in the comments. I think it could be fun to do this again at some point considering there's honestly an unlimited amount of material lol.

A few years ago Jesse J did an endorsement for Smart phone services (a prepaid sim company that exists in Asia). They flew her out to Phnom Penh to perform a free concert for anyone that used Smart. Me & some friends went to the concert and it was...bizarre. She isn't very well known in Cambodia and I suspect to convince her to do the show they must've implied Cambodia is like basically South Korea or Japan in terms of development & exposure to western music (it's not). It was basically a few foreigners and some very confused locals watching her perform on this huge stage they basically made overnight that was next to a large pile of trash (eventually a lot more people came in when they started letting people in regardless of whether or not they used smart services). Very entertaining, but probably not in the way they intended. Weirdly though it did make her famous in Cambodia basically overnight.

The Ariana Grande "yeah" part after a kill, killed me! Some of the endorsements sometimes make sense. Like Katy Perry in Sims3 made sense because it was her extremely colorful era and they had an entire pack that looked like her stage and videos and all that. But the random pop stars in shooting games always make me wonder how much money the got

They do it a lot actually . I mean they also have brand cool as even if some are questionable
The most annoying part about those online concerts is that it’s the studio recording of the songs almost everytime.

For some online concerts that weren't just studio recordings, Nightwish did one in a virtual reality fantasy tavern, and Epica as did live vocals etc for theirs.

Been playing Wizard101 lately and feel I should mention the absolutely iconic collabs the game had with Nick Jonas and Selena Gomez. Nick Jonas composed the soundtrack for Wintertusk and floats ominously in the hub area for Grizzleheim, and Selena Gomez's limited collab produced the rare Selena Statue and Portrait which I think people now pay real money to get a hold of.
Honorable mention: Lizzo didn't officially collab with w101 but they added a character named after her that references her songs.
