  • Touch and go w/ some bounce. Hopefully by end of spring I might be able to do it competition standard but that’ll be a few months.

    Don't want to sound like a "hater" or anything, but judging by his form he looks like he picked up the barbell for the first time in his life. If that is the real weight we can expect 450 kg bench press from this guy in a year or two.

      @@Joshua_B I am no expert either, but I can see that you didn't pack your shoulders, you are laying flat on the beach with no arc, you went immediately straight down with the barbell without taking a breath and bracing your core and your legs are just dangling out there, you have no leg drive whatsoever. And because of all that you are in a very unstable and compromised position. But you lifted 204 kg anyway??? I am very sceptical to say the least.

    • @Joshua_B
      @Joshua_B  9 месяцев назад +2

      @@theprofessional438 My basic idea for legs is just to force my traps into the bench as much as possible during the entire rep, which I set-up before the video starts. I haven't been able to figure out leg drive even though a few friends IRL have mentioned it, it just has never clicked for me.
      During set-up of the bench I do make sure my shoulder blades are pinched together as much as possible, and I also get a small arc. Nothing egregious, but it is there. Probably easier to see in this short - ruclips.net/user/shortsJsqcba25gxk
      For skepticism, here is me doing 424lbs in comp (and also includes how I set-up every time, which I normally edit out of short vids) ruclips.net/video/GfloM3K989A/видео.html
      Of course, everyone I know at the gym also says I have bad form (mainly around the absence of leg drive, and not staying "tight" or whatever that means.) If possible, send some videos that you think might be good to watch on that

    • @Joshua_B
      @Joshua_B  9 месяцев назад +1

      @@ibrahim_-_-_ I do a lot of bench. The only program I've used Candito bench program (should be free online) and I've done it twice now and it has worked well. I was already benching 405lb (touch and go) before ever using an actual program by just doing 5x5s and constantly pushing myself. Mindset also plays a huge role. I try to do the same thing every time: Go to the water fountain and have a splash of water, listen to the same song, get into the same thought patterns, and then walk back to the bar. Though sometimes doubt creeps in, that can also help. Fear of catastrophic failure can give you the adrenaline you need.

    • @ibrahim_-_-_
      @ibrahim_-_-_ 9 месяцев назад

      @@Joshua_B real quick, for 5x5s…do you take each set to failure?
      or are some from the 5 total sets also warm up sets?

    • @Joshua_B
      @Joshua_B  9 месяцев назад

      @@ibrahim_-_-_ If I was doing something like 365 for a 5x5 I would have warm-up sets @ 45/135/225/315 for example, and then try for 5x5 at 365.
      Every time I was able to actually do the entire 5x5 I would go up 10lbs. So that means most days I was failing on the last 1-3 sets and not actually getting all 5 reps in.

    I am actually amazed. Upon first impressions, you look nothing like a lifter at all. Your muscles arent swole either, you are just big. You are so deceptive it is crazy. You have scary strength and you use absolutely zero leg drive and what looks like no bracing either, as well as being completely raw.
    This video appeared on my feed and i thought you were going to fail the lift initially. Damn brother, you are exceptional, awesome stuff.
