    I can vouch for the rosehip oil. Been using it ever since I discovered it about 3 years ago. Oh my gosh!!!! Try it just one time- and you’ll immediately see a difference in your complexion. Before the rosehip oil I was using straight olive oil. It is also great but I love the rosehip oil best because I love the smell.

    I'm already doing most of this. Rosehip oil coconut oil shea butter is really all you need. I must try that Evening Primrose oil you suggested. May I highly recomment the African Black soap called Dudu Osun as the best soap ever and the only natural soap to lather up and be kind enough to use on a newborn. You can get it online Amazon, Ebay and in some Asian supermarkets. Sometimes you must ask and they will get it. I've been using it for years. The potatoe idea sounds great. I've been vegan over three years and since I only eat wholefoods I find I don't need deodorant as the sweat doesn't have a bad smell. Your ideas are great and so down to earth. I wish more people could hear all about how easy it is to live without products and the planet would be in much better condition. Well done!

    All these are Indian homemade DIYs that many households use, I am surprised how do you know this? Also, we use 'ararot powder' in so many food items. It's so great to know that you are using it for your minimalistic lifestyle. It's really inspiring. My my father also used to brush his teeth with a Neem twig (it's a medicinal plant). Just a suggestion, if you would like to try someday, it's really bitter though, you have to spit it out after crushing the twig with your teeth for a few minutes, that's the technique.
    Your videos are so relaxing. Keep it up. Love, from India.

    Thanks Niamh. This video inspired me to use potato as a deodorant. Best natural deodorant so far. Loved this video - very thorough, unlike most I've seen. The potato is an interesting idea but I washed to ask if pastor flour/starch couldn't be used - just ordered under the arms. I think I prefer something thicker to do the job - I was using coconut oil mixed with essential oils but even summer hit it was to runny so I address some beeswax in and found that I lovd that much better. I'm thinking of making silence more solid for convenience and was going to add arrowroot to the mixture - but potatoe starch would likely accomplish the same arms is that has properties that make it ideal for deodorant so much the better! I'm so curious though I'm going to try it on its own first. About the toothpaste though - toothpaste isn't just for cleaning or teeth but should also remineralize them and neutralize bacteria. I'm struggling with the toothpaste thing myself because though I do really appreciate what the bicarb does - I struggle with the saltiness. The recipe I'm using also contains calcium carbonate for remineralizing so I cut back on the bicarb but Deb so it turned my stomach for many weeks in the beginning. Concerning arrowroot, I can appreciate that it would thicken the coconut oil nicely and taste a whole lot better, but aside from a bit of abrasion, what else does it do? Tfs.

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  6 лет назад +1

      Mony's cell Hi There, thanks for watching and for your thorough comment. Arrowroot powder is actually a powerful anti inflammatory which is great for teeth. It is also the easiest starch to digest and gluten free and is completely plant based.
      In relation to the potato starch. You could try it and let me know how you get on. I have not tried it. I like your idea of putting wax into the coconut deodorant to help it solidify. I hope I answered what you were looking for. Let me know if I can help in any other way. ❤️

    Hello! :) Thank you very much for your tips!
    I just wanted to clarify. By coconut powder do you mean coconut milk powder which is used for baking? I didn't find any other.

  • @violettiger21

    Hi, first of all I love your videos, I'm picking up so much new info! With the facial routine, so do you use oil to cleanse and remove make up, and then apply the other oil on top to moisturise? If so do you not find this is too oily/breaks you out? Am keen to find some kind of low-waste, natural facial routine.
    Also, I'm testing out the potato deo today! I made the coconut & bicarb soda recipe the other day and was amazed at how effective it was, bit sadly I now have sore pits, so I'll keep that for the more sweaty days I think!

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  6 лет назад +1

      violettiger21 in relation to the baking soda in deodorant you can swap for arrowroot powder as this is less irritating but still works.
      In relation to oil make up remover, I take it off and then leave my skin as I find it is nicely moisturised. Also your skin gets moisture during the night so an early night can do your facial skin the world of good. X

    Thank you for sharing this with us! I was wondering Is the arrow root powder toothpaste good for people with sensitive teeth?

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  7 лет назад +6

      Yes! I have sensitive teeth and gums. Arrowroot powder was used traditionally for babies who were teething. It gentle and effective.

    Can't wait to try potato deodorant! Do you find it gets expensive? Or how does it compare to other methods price-wise?

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  7 лет назад +6

      Haha not at all! If I buy about 10 potatoes for €1.50 per week for cooking and I use one a week for my deodorant. It works out at approx €7 a year. Thanks for watching the video. Let me know how you get on with potato. Ps: you only need a tiny slice per armpit. It's the liquid on the potato that does the job. X

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  6 лет назад +1

      Aldara fernandez Hithere! I have a a video on what I do for traveling. I think it's called Zero waste travel tips. I keep it really simple when away and use baby jam jars. I have only a few make up items that I have had for years before I was conscious of my waste. I know the lunabeautyzw brand is zero waste and elatecosmetics are another for make up. I hope this answers your question. X

    I make my own deodorant with coconut oil, bicarbonate of soda and essential oils. Problem with the coconut oil is, I live in Scotland and the oil is always rock hard, lol. I never heard of using a potato, wow. Gonna try that soon :) you come up with great ideas, I like your channel a lot (new subscriber here hence also vegan, minimalist, keeping it simple and clean, diy girl as I make all my cleaners at home)

      Genevieve Lawson it works! My friend was the one who turned me onto it. She was told by her friend and so it goes... there is a component in a potato that absorbs odour. I'm sure there hasn't been any scientific studies 😁

    I tried the potato this morning and it doesn't seem to have worked. Do you have to constantly reapply it? Also, do you keep the other part in the fridge?

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  6 лет назад +1

      Sky M. Ah no! Was the potato wet? It's the wet part when you cut into the potato that works. I keep it in a little jar in the fridge...

    • @skym.3362
      @skym.3362 6 лет назад +1

      Fairyland Cottage yes I made sure it was wet because it is the juice that does the job. It's in a jar in my fridge too. I just reapplied. I hope it works because I love this idea!

    Another alternative to the tooth paste is white clay or kaolin! Here, in Europe it is main ingredient in so called tooth powder. Also deodorant alternative is natural mineral crystal deodorant, it's comes without packaging in it's natural form in little straw baskets like a little clear tumble stones. Not the plastic tubes packed ones, those are man-made and questionable.

    • @FairylandCottage
      @FairylandCottage  5 лет назад +1

      Ah very interesting... I'll look up white clay...
      also I have heard about the questionable man made crystal deo.... you are lucky to have the real thing!
