Learning about our past can give us a “why” we do the things we do, but once confronted with it, it is our responsibility to ask the Lord to help us and change us. I was abused heavily as a child, I didn’t know it was abuse until I got into relationships and did the same thing my dad did and they left me. I didn’t know they were wrong until I was confronted about it. Now I am on a journey of change leaning on the Lord for it all. But it started in my upbringing. For example: My dad would punch a hole in things all the time. We were supposed to just deal with it. When I got older and punched holes in things there were consequences to my actions. I was left confused until somebody explained to me how these types of actions are unacceptable.
