Thank you for the explanations Mr. Professor...however, if you don't know how to "read" an electrical diagram and understand the respective circuit, you have little chance of finding the IC...the same problem is with the backlight led testers produced in China... the components inside the box have the specifications erased or a substance is poured that you cannot remove to see the name of the ICs used in the construction of the backlight led tester... I wish you good health and respect, Dan from Europe East

      Очень! Очень, очень верные слова!
Очень часто приходиться просто перерисовывать фрагмент принципиальной схемы, прямо с платы!
И искать по "типовому включению" во множестве даташит.

"if you don't know how to "read" an electrical diagram and understand the respective circuit, you have little chance of finding the IC" - If you don't know how to read a circuit diagram then this kind of thing is not for you anyway. This kind of reverse engineering implies some pretty solid background in electronics.
"a substance is poured that you cannot remove" - Yes you can. Resins used for potting can be softened either by boiling water or a good soaking in DCM (make sure the DCM doesn't touch any other components though).
Also the trickier part is that a chip in a backlight LED tested will most likely be some kind of PIC, so even if you DID figure out the exact component you'd still need to dump the firmware somehow in order to be able to procure a replacement.

@@CoolKoon it's none of your business about what I know and what I don't know, stop making assumptions about others, even if you're from HU, you're not an expert in the field.. you'd better mind your own business if you don't offer explanations more in-depth about this topic..anyway, this is not the place to play smart and time is too expensive to answer your provocative language..maybe you have a way through Ukraine or Poland and use your native Hungarian language in the area.. .success in challenges

Another good idea is to narrow down possible IC chips and than look at some possible circuits the manufacturer suggest in the datasheet. Amazing how close suspect circuits mimic the factory's suggested circuit designs using their chip...

"Amazing how close suspect circuits mimic the factory's suggested circuit designs using their chip..." - Especially in cases where the chip's surface has been sanded off like this, yeah. Either way doing this chip sanding crap is unbelievably dumb.

I find it helpful to place the populated pcb board over a strong light to illuminate the copper tracks on the underside of the board. This helps to show the connections without mixing up the pin numbers from the reversed view.

      Correct
It is easier to find the IC when the circuit has been drawn around the IC.

    • @stefanpejak9131
      @stefanpejak9131 Год назад +1

You can check what IC they are connected to and to which pin of the IC. Then google the IC datasheet. The component value will likely be in the typical application diagram. If it is a capacitor that is in parallel with another capacitor, just remove the burned one. It will be fine.

    • @callishandy8133
      @callishandy8133 Год назад +1

      @@stefanpejak9131 = Wrong.
If the following text is wrong.
Ok no problem for me ! Write some additional lines.
You have to ask yourself : ' ' ' What was the reason for the failture of a part ? ' ' '
Is there a reason before or after the worse part.
Never ever change only the worse part and test the ciruit.
A capacitor loose capacity in some years . I know but often this is not the reason for a fault.
Or= the working temperature is inside to hot. (Reason= Cheap construction and a build short time usage construction)
Often not worth to repair ! !
Other part normally aswell very cheap
and will follow to fail soon = Constructed Obsolecence = calculated short lifetime = more devices are sold = more profit
Or = high voltage or voltage peaks apeared and destroyed the capacitor. Why ? You have to check the possible reasons.
Think like the company owner = Additional parallel capacitor are not cheap !
There must be a very very good reason to spend money for parallel capacitors. See above 80 Ampere current
Why is a expensiver circuit layout sold ?
Lower impedance ? Lower noise level ?
And = Lower temperature in a lot of capacitor (bigger one have smaler surface to spread heat to outside)?
High current for a fraction of time (load and-or unload current) ? = Inside high temperature = 80 Amp will cause a lot of current
A smaler capacity for better high frequency response and lower noise level.
Always think what you have to change additional.
You have to understand the circuit diagramm
(You never ever find the circuit chart of these PCB)
(well you have to look for standart electronic circuits from teachers/internet/ ...)
to understand if there is before or behind the worse capacitor the reason.
Sometimes silicium parts are used at the boarder of there specifications.
The consumer is the first test person and will check if the the device is worse or usable.
To test every ultracheap device is for a lot of (china) companys to expensive .
These companys accept 2% to 4% gurantee exchanged devices.
Sometimes these additional electronic components are very expensive or you cant buy these new.
I repaired a expensive circuit and spend a lot of money for new silicium parts. After the first test I need these expensive part again ! There was a reason for the fault and I can not find it. The part dealer sell the part for a lot of money and via internet I can buy a new ready to use PCB. But the owner dont like the risk of a additional fault later. If I pay the broken test parts until it works some month well ...
      Back to the video =
If the capacitor is paralell than the circuit designer spend additional money for a very good reason.
Maybe he need more (and exact) capacity and not the standart value (plus-minus the tolerance). Or an other reason ?
Or the will reduce the impedance of the big capacitor with a smaler capacitor value and low impedance for a better high frequency response (or reduction). Often the mal capacitor reduce the inner temperature of the bigger capacitor.
Remember the inner resitance of a capacitor produce heat.
Or the desinger knows that the cpacitor will be inside very hot because of the fast load and unload plus high current values.
If he use cheap brands the PCB have a well calculatedtime until fail. The costumer get what he pay.
If other companys copy these electronic , than his company have to sell the PCB cheaper.
By the way= I repaired a circuit where a fuse can be installed. But later produced PBCs have only a cheap wire.
Sometimes it is not a good idea to change a small capacitor dimensional size (with lower voltage) with a higher voltage type. The higer voltage capacitor have a higher impedance and than the reduction of high frequency noise is bad.
Always think that a ciruit designer have to choose the cheaperst layout or his boss will never ever like his expert in his company.
But he have to find a solution that will last some years (the boss tell him how long the lifetime have to be).
This PCB looks like a cheap consumer market construction. Everythink have to be cheap and only have to work until guarantee is gone (plus some month).
If these PCB is for hard and longlasting industiral use, you see the quality.
And if it is for aviation / naval use or for health devices you see the best quality and the heavy parts are fixed plus sikicon drops against vibration faults. The electronic parts are only from best brands and everythink is better designed.

    • @Dave_en
      @Dave_en Год назад +1

@@callishandy8133Exactly. Even in electrical design, the cost of production is taken as major criteria. Manufacturer makes the design only to last the warranty period, beyond that they wont even repair the motor. If one chooses expensive product, the quality of internal component is much better. A customer gets what he/she pays for.
I have seen repair technicians complaining that customers arent willing to pay sufficient money, hence they find ways to cut corners and use cheaper or used components. Using best quality materials cost more than 70% of the brand new product. So these technicians often refuse to repair the product and instead suggest to buy a brand new one. I being able to design things from scratch, spend extra bucks to get the best out of it.

Would not it be easier to try to find the diagram of the complete circuit and find the component in question? What to do if there are a lot of 16-pin ICs?

the biggest problem is that, no documentation is available for these chinese unbranded power supplies. just we can download the datasheet or application note for the ic.
to find the datasheet, we need part number
if part number is removed then it becomes hurdle

The IC chip could be an MCU chip, and may have various perepherals and exceution speed, different timings and so on. I once have used an MCU to act like an SMPS supply and the MCU had analog input. Even if we guessed the MCU then how about the code space? The perepherals? the timings? the RAM size, Flash size, EEPROM and so on? It will take forever to make a guess. My best bet is to take the board number and purchase new board from the manufacturer or distributer.
