G’day Mr. Smith. I did watch you be interviewed the other day, however forgot to make any meaningful comment or any comment for that matter, sorry !! Or rather excuse me. Skipp well done for making the best out of a very interesting situation. Mate I doff my cap to you, it could have been gone either way. The gent that interviewed you did a pretty reasonable job of it. So much that you achieved was just done with a good ideas and keeping an eye on & of what drove the economic cycle. I Also admire your love of your fellow man. Ewan you have reminded me of my late father whom also ended up seeing an opening for an economic opening an airline that required oceanic ops in SOUTH ASIA unfortunately the big end of town told our local friendly zillionaire if the family firm should keep nosing around this little company that was very close to starting ops. However Mr big end of town with his banking, political, and other evilness said to the small emerging airline if your financial friends should extend a helping hand he will never do any biz in the country of domicile EVER AGAIN !!! What a nasty person.😊 ☮️ 🤙 🛫 🛩️ 🛬 The small emerging airline remained just that/////////>>>>>>>>>>>
Went to Rarotonga back in 2006 I was still young and dumb but I really wanted to move there . Beautiful place or at least it was back then have not been back since but have fond memories
Well done Captain Ewan Smith and of course not forgetting every one of the team members associated with the past and ongoing ADVENTURE. It sounds like another Kiwi KISS formular at work here ( keep it simple stupid ) Another golden rule in aviation at work here is Shiney side up and rubber side down. PS I trust I heard Ewan mention Murray Pope's name, another south pacific aviation legend . Cheers and beers from the Creek , regards to all.
This would have to be one of the best interviews I have ever watch ,nearly 2 hours with so many emotions from tears to laughter wow I only hope your others hold my attention like that
Amazing interview for a great man Ewan. Meitaki ranuinui no taau i rave no to matou Ipukarea Kuki Airani. A true Cook Islands Warrior. 👌👌 Thank you for sharing Kiwi Tales
Ewan, what a wonderful and gutsy dream that came to fruition.. I may have flown with you on an Aero Commander out of Rotorua - Edgecumbe - Rotorua - Auckland way back I am 85 now and retired flight instructor, took on flying at the age of 61 and not that long after invited to do the instructor course. The rest was history until retiring. Not to take away any one thing from your remarkable vision and foresight in developing Air Rarotonga. No doubt many a hurdle and opposition from a certain airline at the time. But good for you if I may say so and not being patronising in any way. Your airline may have been responsible in getting students to get to and from to College down in New Zealand over time. I think the Peyroux boys may have been some. They went to St Patrick's College Silverstream at Heretaunga, North of Wellington. Anyway what a magnificent achievement you accomplished in mounting all the hurdles along the way to establish AND Maintain Rarotonga Airline. I hope to visit Rarotonga again before I turn my toes up. Such a beautiful collection of Islands . Best wishes for a continuing long and prosperous life. Regards Warwick Parkinson ex St Patrick's College , Silverstream, 1952 - 1955

Ewan what a wonderful interview and history of your time in Aviation and at Air Rarotonga. Your attitude towards the Cook Island people in particular makes me proud to call you a friend and also brings back memories of some great times we enjoyed when learning to fly. Keep up the good work.
This was su ch an interesting interview, what a capable man Ewen is. I became very emotional when it was revealed that Ewan had lost two children to road accidents...how do you survive that type of tragedy. Thanks for producing this video Craig, This material should be televised.
Thanks for the positive feedback! Yes, very tough thing to have to go through losing two children. Unfortunately the only stuff "televised" these days is quality material like "Married at First Sight" or "The Bachelorette" !!
Ewan Smith has been instrumental in the growth of tourism to the outer islands of the Cooks, his story is one of challenges and adversity an incredible journey and vision. Ewan has had a huge impact on the community and deserves all the awards and accolades.
Wow, what an interesting and motivating character. So much perspective on the industry and the region. Keep up the great interviews Craig, I'm often playing them while passing your house commuting to the Airport.
