    Why is this video so validating to all my struggles as a wavy girl 😭 Also lately I've been having no inclination nor motivation to style my hair. I just feel like it's too much work for one day's worth of good looking waves (sometimes waves don't even last a day in the humidity). So now I just scrunch in a leave-in and call it a day. It's too much Courtney. It's too much work. Sigh.

      All grey now and my hair has gone from super thick, horse tail coarse and strong with a few waves, lots of shine and NO Frizz to fine, thin, super frizzy, dry fluff. Menopause and aging completely changed my hair! The good news? All these curly girl routines are making my hair feel so silky, shiny and soft! Yes! Grey hair with natural shine. I didn’t think it was possible. Fingers crossed it will become stronger and less prone to breakage!
      I love all the super targeted wavy girl advice. THANK YOU!! Just what I need just when I needed it! I am at the stage my curls last several hours…still looks good, just not as full and beautiful. Great specific advice.

    Thank you for this video! The struggle is real with wavy hair and I don't think non wavy hair people understand it. If I let my hair air dry with no heat and product it's frizzy, limp, with a variety of 2b to 3c waves and curls.. It looks horrid lol I have been trying for a year with different products to wear it wavy, but I have had zero success. I envy everyone who can go 3-5 days without washing. I can't I get so much product buildup and have never been able to have a positive refresh day so I feel like I have to start over with clean hair so I can only make it two days without washing. Thank. you for all the tips and glad I am not alone with the wavy hair struggle.

    You say not to rake product in but Curlsmith's website directions for the Effortless Waves product says to rake as step 2: "Work the product through the hair in sections using the "raking method" for an even distribution." I guess I can try it both ways and find out which works for me.

    Thanks so much, Courtney. I've watched this video twice. Focusing on having healthy hair and knowing it's normal for my curl to stretch between washes is very encouraging!

    Being fortunate to having mostly wavy with also curls interspersed, the one positive is not having to spend the time to style "curly" is the days that follow I really don't have to do too terrible much. I pineapple my hair overnight. I'm then able to take it down and spritz it with a bit of water. Sometimes I have to add a bit of product on those uncooperative areas, but for the most part, it works. I love your channel, Courtney. Early on yours was the first one I found on RUclips. Your channel is the one I can relate to because I don't have the tight curls or ringlets. I also like how you're willing to show a failure or a super successful wash day. I love how you say, you are fearfully and wonderfully made. Yes, we are! 🥰

    The validation I feel from this video OMG. I always feel like my hair is such a pain. I have a variety of patterns ranging from 2B-3A and my hair is quite thick. Majority of the wave sprays I've tried don't do enough for me. I'm a huge fan of Curlsmith products (especially the hold me softly balm and curl souffle), and have thought about trying the wave spray. You've sold me on it! I do wish more of their products contained heat protection. I bought their heat spray and like it, though.

    I love this video and I happened upon it at just the right time. I've been struggling for almost 5 years with my wavy hair and have had only limited success. It was so good to hear that I am not the only one who has these problems--it's like you read my journal. Thank you so much for sharing and giving me some good, practical tips to help my 2a-2c, high-porosity, frizzy, GRAY (wait until you have THAT added bonus, lol) hair behave. I promise to stick with being gentle.
    And, you're right, somehow I feel more confident as "me" when I wear my hair wavy and not blown dry with a round brush.
    Thanks again for your videos and your honest recommendations. I love Curlsmith; my only beef is, as an old lady, some of their bottles--while attractive and a bit "pharmacy-retro"--are difficult to dispense product from (arthritis).

    I am so glad I found this! I always felt like my hair was chronically unkempt and messy, no matter what I did. I thought it was because my hair is fine but now I see that I’ve just never learned how to care for wavy hair!
    I’ve cut my hair into a mullet, and the layers really bring out the curl while being a forgiving style in messy moments. I also use a small amount Kendra perfect blowout cream and a dryer brush after washing. I will definitely stay tuned to see if I can develop a technique for more consistent results.

    Listen, i have wavy hair, similar to Courtneys and i have found the best results so far with, believe it or not, Fructis banana hair food. I use their hair mask only and the schampoo max once a week. I do not leave the mask in.
    No brushing but i do draw my finger thru before squishing in the mask.
    I style with two pumps of Tigi Catwalk Curl cream and finish with a small amount of Redken gel och Björn Axén curl cream. Microplop with a microfiber cloth, diffuse and schrunch out with a tiny amount of oil. Turns out so good every time!
    Once in a while i work in some protein products when hair seems to need it or the Redken acidic bond line. (have some old bleaching).
    So funny how my cheapest products seem to work the best.
    P.S I pixie diffuse

Like the shape up aqua gel from curlsmith and then layer it with shine gel hold 9 by curlsmith and add water to your hands when using the shine gel since it is very thick.I find brushing the product in gets a more even distribution of the products.

    So relatable 😭 I’ve found your channel over 3years ago and I’ve learned a lot but as my hair is pretty much 2a I have one more struggle- even after consistently styling my hair wavy for years one side of my head is flatter than the other and the waves don’t form in the same way. Drives me crazy! But still, I enjoy styling my hair wavy as much as possible but fyi if I don’t then my hair is so healthy now that it’s not frizzy at all. It actually looks straight with just a front wave - kinda like a retro pin up wave through the front and the rest is straight. Oh well, I’m excited to see there are more products for naturally wavy hair!

    The hydrogen bond stuff makes so much sense! When I was a kid/teenager, I thought my hair was straight, but it was always a little fluffy (not bad or frizzy by any means) and would hold any style heatless or otherwise. My hair is very wavy now and a little curly when I style it as such, but if I want to let it be straighter for a day it doesn't get too upset at me. She's obedient!

    I’ve never felt more validated in my entire life.
    Products-I love the Giovanni tea tree shampoo paired with the smooth as silk conditioner. My scalp reeeally loves the shampoo and I also find I just need something more cleansing than a typical curly hair shampoo. I also love curlsmiths foam-lightweight and really brings out my waves, but it I wish it was a little higher hold.
    I haven’t tried that specific shampoo, I’ll have to try it!

    I love CurlSmith. The Effortless Waves spray was far more effective than I expected it to be on wash day, but I didn't have much hold left by day 2. I also didn't have any cast to scrunch out, so maybe I'll try using a little more on my next wash. I let mine air dry and was pleased by how much faster it dried than my regular gel while giving me a similar look. That makes this a great product for a quick wash day or a more relaxed few days. I think Effortless Waves is a fantastic product for me right now because I'm currently working from home and this is an easy summer styler, which is hard to find in Texas humidity. I'll use my regular gel when I need to go to the office or out with friends, but this is a great product for a relaxed weekend or work from home weeks. Today I'm also trying it as a refresh spray after using it as my only styler yesterday and so far, so good!

    Definitely want to try the CS Effortless Waves. But have to say that styling on soaking wet hair has never worked for my low porosity 2c hair. Bigger clumps, yes, but they are stuck to my scalp. Not sure if this is because my hair is at least medium density, if not more, or if it's because there's a lot of grey hair mixed in which is like having wires grow out of your head. Or maybe both. It always comes down to what works for your particular hair. So try everything.

I have tried a satin pillowcase and a satin lined bonnet pineapples don't stay because I have hip to low back length hair. I have mixed textured hair from fine to coarse. I have extremely thick hair as well.

    I know you have perfected how you style, but I would love to see some videos where you style different ways. For example, I have a similar hair type and I have tried getting out of the shower, adding no product, not brushing, air drying. Then once dry, I add the curlsmith effortless waves, scrunch, and then diffuse and I get ringlets! Without any other products my hair is soooo light and it seems like those curls last for days!

    I love this video that you have put together. I’ve been on a journey to embrace my wavy hair and make it healthy. Sometimes I feel like I’m rocking an old 80s and 90s style because I don’t take the time to straighten my hair and wear it the way I see so many ladies wearing their hair (which, by the way, takes me a very long time). So, I tend to just let it go wavy and pull up the sides and the crown. Which brings me to another struggle that I have…the fact that I always pull my hair up. My hair is just beyond shoulder length and I would love to wear it down and wavy. But, I can’t seem to get the top to style correctly or have a slight uplift, or even be going in the right direction without styling it with the brush and dryer, which then pulls out the wave. Do you have any suggestions? Have you made a video about how to style the top crown of your hair when wearing it down and wavy? Thanks a bunch! Here’s to being our best selves!

    I have and have used the effortless wave spray with the multitasking conditioner and though i liked the results, i work outside ans it just didn't last for me. I have two things that do work: 1. The feather light protein cream with the hydro style flexi jelly (my most favorite of their products) or 2. The weightless air dry cream with the shape up gel. I always style with soaking wet hair ans hover diffuse with my Shark IQ styler dryer. With either of those two options, I can get 3 days between washes. I also NEVER scrunch out the cruch on wash day. I wait until I wake up and do it then. All curl smith all the time for me. I find that the effortless wave spray does a beautiful job of refreshing my hair while adding some hold in it.

    • @DaraS84
      @DaraS84 Год назад

      Question for you: does the flexi jelly weigh the hair down at all? I have had a lot of issues with gel making my hair really stringy. Same with mousse and creams!😅 I'm really just trying to figure out how to eliminate the stringy ends. My waves look great in the middle section and then my roots are frizzy. I am so lost 😂

  • @aprilalfaro2995
    @aprilalfaro2995 Год назад +1

    My hair always seems to return to straight after an hour maybe 2 so I don't do all the products and diffuse super often any more. (It's a lot of work to just work from home and not leave the house all week) I do however always use a leave in conditioner at minimum and even that has made a huge difference. I have noticed that I don't really like my hair straightened anymore so I don't use my straightener anymore unless I'm using it to curl (pretty rare) I never used to use much heat on my hair, just curling on special occasions or straightening 2-3 times a month so I feel like I never had that much heat damage but always hated now frizzy it always was. Scrunching in my consider and leave in have changed my hair and that's what works for me! I also decided a few months ago to get a waver tool and the waves last until my next wash day and I was amazed because I could never get curls to last so perfect for so long so if I have plans for the weekend or something I have started to use that heat tool on my hair more often but I still feel like it's slightly less than a straightener or curling iron because my hair naturally wants to be in that shape so it just takes shape so quickly.
    Long story long 😅 do whatever you want to do with your hair! It's YOUR hair and you have to style it and lube with it so just find what works for you, what you like the best and do that! It takes time and experimentation to figure it out but you'll feel more like yourself and you'll probably start to look forward to and enjoying wash/style day
