I've had a hemmer foot for decades since I bought my sewing machine and only used it today 😂 Thanks for the tutorial 💞👍
That's so fun! It's our pleasure!
Keep the edge "right here" is the most helpful instruction I've heard for using the rolled hem foot! thank you!
Have had so much trouble with this foot. Never saw tweezers used to get fabric into the funnel. And you actually sewed at a slow speed so we could see how you were getting fabric fed evenly. Thank you for this video.
Thank you so much for this video. I bought a 1/16 Suisei hemmer foot to hem almost invisible organza and man, I really thought I was gonna go insane there for a second trying to work such a tiny hem into the feed. My hemmer foot looks different but your tips put me at ease, way less stressful seeing it actually work. Thanks again!
Best explanation & demo I have found for my Brother sew machine. Thank you.
Our pleasure! Thank you for your kind words!
This is the greatest presser foot tutorial I’ve ever seen. Right now I’m learning how to make cloth napkins. How do I handle corners with this foot? Thank you so much.
Many thanks Sarah for sharing your experience with these different sewing machine feet👏👏👏👏👏👏😀
Who could *not like this video? :-) The instruction is thorough and the visual is clear.
I have purchased my very first serger, it's an old model I have found on EBay Singer 14u44, I find your videos extremely helpful because you explain everything so well and your voice is easy to listen to. Thank you so very much.
Excellent instruction. I had no problem doing it myself. I wouldn’t have known to start with stitch or two before feeding the fabric through the loop. That made all the difference. After that it went perfectly. Thank you.
Hello, I am new to the sewing game. But, I want to say thank you so much for all your videos! if not for you I would be lost.. you are AMAZING....
Thank you so much for taking the time to share , your visual and explanation helped me so much 🙏
Your video explained the hem foot to me the best! Thanks so much! I honestly could not have done it without you.
Thank you so much for mentioning the landmarks you use on the foot and also how to know how much of a fold to feed through. This has been extremely helpful to me. I'm actually looking forward to practicing more. THANK YOU!
You are very welcome! Thank you for watching!
Of all the hemmer foot tutorials I found, this one is the most easy to understand and follow. Thank you so much 😊
I really need that ....I have read the manual several times but being able to actually see it helps . Thanks.
The best video on hummer foot ever! Excellent teaching thank you so much
Our pleasure! Thank you for watching!
Thank you for your very clear explanation on how to use the hammer foot. I have a project that needs this type of hem!
New fan. You have been the only i found to be very detailed. Thank you so much for sharing. Kelly from Ohio
Thank you so much for covering all the details; going over a seam and how to use the hemmer foot on sheerer fabrics!
Good tutorial. What you show obviously works even if it is a bit tricky. I haven't bought rolled hem feet yet but think I'll manage! Thank you
I found one in my Mum's work box, no idea what it was used for. After watching your tutorial I used it with great results. Thank you so much for the explanation and the visual.
Thank you for your kind words and for watching!
Excellent tutorial 👌Wow! Thx for being thorough 💖
Thank you for your kind words and thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing this tutorial... Very helpful and motivating...
Watched several videos on using hemmer foot. This one gave me the best hints to improve my technique. The close-up view of starting the fabric feeding into the foot and placement of hands/fingers to guide the fabric is very helpful.
This is Very helpful. I've had this foot for a while and was challenged by the beginning of the hem & how to end it well. Also, thanks for the bulky seam treatment. Grateful for these tutorials :-) !
Brillant!! That's what the French called "roulotee" and of course was made by hand and used in the Haute Cotoure. Could be not the same but is a fantastically helpful resource. Thank you!!!
Seeing how you have to wrassle with the fabric to get it to go through the funnel right, I don't feel so bad now. It cannot be over emphasized that this is a foot that needs to be practiced with a lot! I appreciate your little tip at the end to keep the corner of the hem from going over the edge. I hadn't figure that one out on my own.
You said it right! It definitely needs a bit of practice, but once ya get it down, it's awesome!
Thank you for your video I bought my hemmer foot over a year ago and have tried using it at least a dozen times but couldn't get it to work for me with the included instructions then I found your video and it was easy thanks a bunch
Thank you so much....watched a few before yours and it just was not clicking. Your tip with the pin then stitch and how to hold it worked ....my scarf to poncho looks perfect....thxs again
Thank you for this! This video has helped me master the hemmer foot on a vintage machine! Brilliant!! I’m so pleased!
I was experimenting with this foot to do napkins but I got aggravated and just ran them through the serger for a rolled hem. I'll practice more later. You make it look so easy. When I fiddled with it previously on my treadle machine it worked great...on my electric, not so much.
OMG I love making circle skirts and MY WORD my hem looks fantastic now. Great idea telling me to practice first. I used the waist circle that I cut out earlier and I did good but saw the need to go slow before hemming my beautiful circle skirt I just made. I'm so excited now. Thank you so much for this tutorial.
You are welcome! Thank you for watching!
I have a walking foot that I bought and have not used yet. I bought it to sew silk fabric, mainly neckties. Can you please do a tutorial for how to properly use a wlking foot with silk fabric?
At this time, we do not have a video specifically about sewing silk with a walking foot; however, we do have a walking foot video that you may find helpful: www.sewingpartsonline.com/blog/use-walking-foot-updated/
you are an excellent teacher. Thank you
You are very welcome! I was completely baffled when I first used this foot. It definitely took some practice.
I was really struggling until I saw this, and then voila! Success! Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
excellent tutorial...You covered pretty much every scenerio for using the hemmer.
Very nice tutorial. Thank you for doing it this way. Helped me a lot (off subject, love your nails! I wish mine were so nice!) I'll keep watching your good tutorials. Thanks!!!
Thank you for watching! (And thanks for the compliment! :) )
Watched two other videos and this is the only one that really shows you how to do it and gives hints to help like the tweezers. Actually I have watched several of your videos that have been real helpful since I just started sewing this march with the mask.
I come across your video and sewing and use of hammer foot interested me to watch. Highly useful when in earlier times conventional type we use it by hand folding very fast. It is an essential for indian mend wear kurtah. Now with modern and electric motor operated and especially for people old age or wearing glasses this foot is very useful as it is difficult to vouch yhe stitches in aligned to the same size. Wonderful presentation. As far the pin either you can use hand long stitches at the start with loose thread hanging which can be pulled out easily.
Thanks for the clear tutorial. I'm going to attempt to conquer this new sewing foot today.
Go for it!
Thank you so much! I have had my hemmer foot that came with my machine many years ago and never used it. I am excited to try it. Great camera angles and commentary! 5 stars.
I've been teaching myself how to sew, and this video has been the most helpful. thank you so much!
Our pleasure!
Thank you so much for making this video! Sometimes you just need to see someone else do it for the instructions to really click. I bought my hemmer foot earlier today thinking I'd just figure it out on my own. HA!
I'm so glad I stumbled onto your channel-- especially because you use a brother to demonstrate the specialty presser feet!
I cannot say it often enough - your tutorials are very helpful and I love the way you explain it. thank you so much!
MondbergViennaDeutsch Thank you for being so kind!

Best tutorial I have seen on how to use the hemmer foot! thanks for being so thorough.
Melissa Christy Thank you!
Melissa Christy and I
DITTO and a thank you.
Always wondered how someone makes those tiny hems on scarves and such😍
Thank you! And thanks for checking us out!
Despite your AMAZING tutorial this is still challenging to do. With a bit of practice i will get better. Thanks for sharing this with the world! :)
Thank you for watching!
I bought one. 10/10 would recommend
I wish there was a closer up view of how she got the fabric into the foot. I have issues with my hands. Tremors and I can’t hold onto things. So I have to figure out how to do things differently. So it would have been nice to have a closer look. To me, there’s so many parts to this foot; instead of the normal ones where you just put the fabric under it. I guess I’ll just keep looking for a video that helps me. The explanation was the best I’ve come across so far and I love your videos.
thank you so much for doing this video. I was given a hemmer foot and watched a couple of videos that did not explain how to use it very well. I watched yours and now I feel confident enough to use it now. your a good instructor.
Thank you! I've been dying to make pretty scales out of georgette and silk chiffon and tried to do a rolled hem by hand!!! Which didn't come out very nicely so am so happy to watch your tutorial.
I'm sending my hemming to you! You explained it better than anyone else! So neatly done! 😄
Super-helpful! Thank you. 👍🏼
That was a great tutorial! I have watched several on this foot and none was as thorough. I am ready to give this foot another try! Thanks so much!
Wow! that was SO helpful, you do a wonderful and thorough demonstration,,, thank you. I feel confident to try it now.
Using a sewing stiletto (once upon a time every machine accessory box included them) makes working the fabric into the foot prior to beginning to sew makes this part of the process much easier.
Thanks so much. Your tutorial was great as it helped me tremendously.
I love this tutorial very helpful and you explain it so well
amazing instructional video!!!!! you are a blessing thank you so much
Thank you for watching
I watched a couple more vids on this foot before stumbling on this vid. Best one yet. So far this foot has been a pain to use. You make it look so easy. So now I'm wondering if it's me or my old 15-91 Singer machine. Nice vid though. Guess it's back to practice practice practice
thank you so much for this tutorial!
Thank you so much for posting this. It was very helpful. I was doing it totally wrong! I'm anxious to try the correct way. BTW your ring is beautiful. :)
Why thank you! Good luck with your hemmer foot - you can do it!!
Thank you for this tutorial, I've been having trouble using my hemming foot for very thin/light fabric, the tip with the pin is very handy! :)
Very helpful tutorial! I think I'll give these hemming feet another try.
Thank you for watching
Excellent tutorial! Great, detailed explanation.
You just saved me 50 bucks thank you
Every time I looked at my hemmer foot, I scared the tar out of me. With your tutorial it took away the fear. Thank you for taking the time to teach us in an easy to understand way for those of us who feared the dreaded hemmer foot. 😉
Great demo...with excellent visual....Joan
Thank you for watching
great teacher thanks
Very helpful video, thank you
would like to have seen the completed edge of the lightweight/chiffon fabric. but thanks for the demonstration. 1/8" looks a tad more challenging than the 1/4" would be but looks like it makes hemming chiffon much easier.
Thanks for your amazing tutorial!!
Love your ring!!
AMAZING! You made the only nice video that illustrated me!
THANK YOU!
Great tutorial! Thanks so much!
It's extremely useful with super thin fabrics...that being said, it takes a bit of practice LOL
I needed this tutorial!
Excellent - thank you....
OK! All I saw is just it is done by magic! Right? :-D Thanx for the vid x
Nice 👍
I luv ur videos. I am wondering if you can show a tutorial using the hemmer foot with a rounded edge such as on a bridal gown.or very rounded edges. Can you please upload that..It will help a lot of people, including myself.
Would have loved to see how you "mount" the fabric into the hem and how it looks like when finished hemming
I was thinking the same thing and I'm sorry but she is not very good at showing how to operate the machine or the parts / pressure feet I have found more detailed sewing instructors than what she is doing :( won't be back here again Bye and good Luck
She did.
Thanks, all these vids will help me alot!!
Still useful video even after several years of posting.
Thank you so very much!!!
Para utilizar este pie con un tejido elástico que se necesita para aplicar almidón o coser una puntada primera estancia. Disminuya la presión del pie para tejidos ligeros.
When working on a curve you feed it on an angle. If the curve is greater than what you were working with, should the feed angle be great too? Thank you for doing this video!
Ohhh yeah... It looks so easy. I don't know what you are doing that I don't. If I were to describe my results, "professional" would not come to mind. The edge just wants to pop out.
It takes a bit of practice. You can do it! 😊
Yes very helpful, thank you
Getting it started looks like the tricky part
It takes practice, but it is worth it!
If you were to sew the needle would break on the presser foot, is that what you mean?
great tutorial. thanks.
i think this would be perfect for making fabric napkins....
eva Veva It is! I alterateven between a large rolled hem foot and the picot foot when making my napkins
I tried this foot & no matter how I tried it would not roll the hem.Thank you will practise more now I know how to do it properly
My first suggestion would be to make sure that you have ordered the correct hemmer foot for your model. If you can please call us with your make and model of machine, we will be happy to double check for you. Our number is 888-824-1192.
Sewing Parts Online It is a genuine Janome Hemmer foot that I bought from their online shop. My machine is a JanomeQXL605 low shank so they double checked the foot & model compatibility.
Im in UK I think I need more practise with it. I dont do much dressmaking anymore as I do quilting mainly.I bought it to alter a chiffon bridesmaid dress hem but did not sew a nice hem just a mess lol
Hi Dawn! I attempted to pull up an order with your name, with no success. If you can please call us at 888-824-1192 with your order number, we will be happy to look into this for you. I apologize for any frustration.
Sewing Parts Online I did not buy it from you but direct from Janome. Thanks to your video I now know how to use it correctly & can practise more.
I see! If you need any assistance in the future, please give us a call!
Hi and thanks for all videos, they're all very helpful! I'm interested if is this compatible with a Pfaff 1230 OL?
this really helpful ! .. and your explanation is so good .. thanx a lot ^_^
Thanks this helps
